Salon Opus

I paid almost $55 after tip for a haircut. I told the hairdresser over and over again what I wanted. Instead the hairdresser cut my hair the way he wanted to. When I got out of the shower to style it on my own, I realized that the front was the EXACT same length as when I went in there. He had blown it out so that it was trendy looking. I'm not trendy. So basically I paid almost $55 for a trim. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. Pros: can't think of any Cons: over priced, poor haircuts more

I needed a new salon and the reviews for Salon Opus were amazing and were compared to Nubest where I was previously a customer (which must have been written by one of the stylists). I had a 12:30 appt and was told it would be a few minutes. At 12:40 I was told it would be no longer then 10 minutes. At 1:00 pm they told me that the stylist was just about finished and they brought me back to wash my hair. At 1:10 pm I was still waiting for the stylist who was not finished and still had half of the hair to dry. Cons: Inconsiderate. more

Salon Opus is great! I walk in feeling crumby, and walk out like a movie star! Seriously, the staff there are always friendly and accomodating. The colorists are amazing, really educated , and highly creative! My hair has never felt so healthy until I started coming to Salon Opus.As for the previous comments, I feel I'm worth $25.00. If a blowout or a haircolor makes you feel better about yourself , you just cant put a price on that. My mother always told me cheaper is always more expensive! I went to a hair salon in Great Neck to get color done, I left with hot roots and multi colored blonde hair.I heard about Salon Opus and went there after leaving the Salon in Great Neck hoping that they could help me out. Nicole which is a colorist at Salon Opus corrected my color and it came out awsome. She also introduced me to this cute stylist Tiago who did my hair for my prom, I wanted the Vanessa Hudgens updo, and I walked out of there with the exact updo as hers if not better. It held up all night, I never got so many compliements on a updo before. I LOVED IT. and so did everyone else. Thank you Salon Opus. more

I went to Salon Opus based on a friend's recommendation and was pleasantly rewarded for doing so. Upon entry, I was greeted with a friendly smile--something increasingly uncommon nowadays. My color and cut were both top-notch; I have received many compliments ever since! The stylists' knowledge and expertise were both impressive and comforting. It has been very hard trying to find a salon that consistantly gives me great haircuts.... The search is over. I have been going to get my haircut from Billy and will never switch again. Not only is it great every time but he offers great insight when I want to try something different and he always knows the latest trends. The salon is modern and the staff is extremely friendly. I always get compliments on my cuts and have had numerous friends and family go there with similar results. I have made a believer of many.... I tried this place out after reading the reviews. It's very modern and clean - but a bit cold. Plus, I was ready for a new trendy haircut and wasn't happy with the results. I have long hair and specifically asked that he does not give me long layers - I walked out with them. I also wanted side sweep bangs (which I've gotten before and liked)... however he cut them - they just don't work so I'm pinning them up until they grow out. I am totally impressed with Salon Opus. I used to travel from Long Island into the city to get my hair done at a swanky salon on 5th Avenue until my stylist moved to Columbia, so I started to search for a high quality salon near home. I found this diamond in the rough via this website (its location is in a typical Long Island strip mall with a low-end supermarket and your usual array of shops), and after reading ultra positive reviews, I decided to go for a color and cut. Lenore, the colorist, is lovely and realistic, assessing my hair to see what it needed, and the color came out natural and vibrant. The stylist, Tiago, is an absolute artist. He not only gave me a gorgeous cut, but worked wonders with a hair dryer. The final touches resulted in a stylish and chic look! I sent my finacee to him before our wedding day (who at the time had an overgrown, butchered look from a barber shop gone wrong), and I can not believe how the shape of his hair transformed into a flattering, manageable yet sophisticated look. Our experience was so fantastic, we used him to style our hair for our wedding day. Tiago created a beautiful updo for me and a blowout for my husband. The best part about all of this is the price-I can not believe that I could get a cut and blowout for under $50, including the tip! Color was reasonable and my husband got a top notch men's haircut for $25. Updos and wedding make up are competitively priced as well. I highly recommend this salon! Love Nubest but love Opus too! The price is right at Opus. Its very nice. Marsha can cut hair and Lenore did my highlights and I tell you I was impressed! In fact, Marsha used to work at Nubest! Pros: Price is right, get hair styled as you ask, color is awesome Cons: the women that washed the color out did not wash it off my face so make sure you check your face before leaving! more

So I just got a haircut from Salon Opus and wow, let me tell you, this place is nice! I've been to nuBest but that place charge way too much. Salon Opus is just AS AMAZING for the better price. Thanks to the reviews I've read on here, I asked for Tiago and he is amazing. Talk about FIERCE. That's right, he made my hair look fierce. Funky - funky ! Very stylishg. I have literally been going to Salon Opus since it opened.....and I have followed Billy, one of the owners, for 20 years. He is the best colorist in New York, and that includes Manhattan. I have five sisters, one of whom lives in Manhattan but comes out to Long Island for Billy. My other sister has gone to Nubest for years, but feels Billy is better for her color. Billy styled my daughter's hair when she was 5, and now she is 21 and she still goes to him for her cuts. You can't go wrong with anyone else there either.....they are all good!!! When I recently called to make an appointment to see Debbie, my stylist, I was told that she did not work there anymore. I had asked the receptionist, Mandy, if I can have Debbie's number, as I'd like to see where she might have gone. I really didn't know if I was going to leave Salon Opus to follow Debbie, but I would have liked to make that decision myself, as I'm particular about my hair (isn't everyone?). I was initially told by Mandy that she would call Debbie and give her my number. After not hearing anything for a day, I called back and followed up. Mandy indicated that she did not call, but would make the call. After waiting another day and receiving no response, I lobbed in a call to the owner, as I thought he might be a little more receptive to my request, which I didn't think was out of the ordinary, as I know that stylists usually welcome calls from happy customers. When I called the owner, I was told ""he is a stylist and VERY busy right now"". I left my name and number. Never receiving a callback from the owner, out of frustration, I had my girlfriend intervene by going in the salon. Once inside, Mandy and the owner spoke to my girlfriend and indicated that he had just heard about the request and would have Mandy call again. If, for whatever reason Debbie did not respond, Mandy PROMISED to provide us Debbie's number. After two to three follow up calls, the last one finished up with Mandy coincidently stating that ""I just spoke to Debbie, and she indicated that she did not want her number passed on."" VERY ODD! When my girlfriend indicated that we are frustrated and didn't understand why we were given the runaround, which this was, my girlfriend was told, ""If you are unhappy, take your business else where."" I'm not sure why Debbie left, but if it were on bad terms, I could understand them not providing us a number. However, I know if I owned a salon, I'd handle things differently. WELL I'M GOING ELSEWHERE, AS INSTRUCTED! Pros: Debbie was great! Cons: Read the review and come to your own conclusion more

Just needed to comment on this Salon. I've recently walked in there scared of course because it's your hair, i really can't trust anyone doing my hair. Anyway, when i walked in I was greeted with smiling faces. They sat me down where i can actually speak to the stylist who was doing my hair and to let them know what i wanted done. That was so professional, I've never had that done before. Then Karen cut my hair the exact way i had described she is amazing. She was like Edward scissor hands, my hair was cut and dry within no more than a half hour. It was just beautiful, best hair cut I've ever gotten anywhere.The following week i went to get my highlights done by Nicole. I looked fabulous. Overall my experience at Salon Opus was Amazing. Salon Opus is God's throne. Honestly! I went into this place with pitch black hair and some hope to come out with brown. And i got more than expected. LENOR [ im not sure if i spelled your name right ] did a FANTASTIC job on my hair. The price was so worth it becauses shes the best hair professional there. I was soooooooo happy with the resultss my hair was shinyy, a beautiful brown and still as soft as i wanted it to be. THANKS SO MUCH LENOR FOR GIVING ME THE COLOR I WISHED FOR! Besides this event ive been going to Salon Opus for about 3 years. I got my first set of highlights there and im going to continue going there as long as i live! :] I reccommend this place to everyone who wants to look amazingly beautiful this salon is full of majic! I just had to come on and leave a thought about a stylist to look out for ...For a long time I been going to Salon Opus and been getting great hair cuts and styles by one of the owners, but I am now going to have to say that one of there stylist Tiago has made me look like a star each and every time I go to him. He took his time and made sure I look on point for whatever occasion I have to go to. I have never been so please with anyone?s work, I guess because I am picky. He is new, fresh, and very cute too hehe. Anyway, I thought all you stylist who read this should know they should watch out because he is going to be probably a stylist stars are going to want to book. I went to Salon Opus b/c I saw so many great reviews on CitySearch and everyone was right about this place! Everyone who worked there were super friendly and helpful. I went to the salon after I had a horrible experience at a swanky NYC salon that cost an arm and a leg for a haircut. But at Salon Opus the price was right and Debbie who cut my hair did an amazing job and I love it love it love it! I've never had so many compliments on my hair before!
