Great Gyros and Loved the Outdoor Garden Ambience 9/1/2007

If You enjoy a great ambience when dining out, and you like middle eastern/turkish cuisene...this is the place to visit. Sahara is one of my favorite late night spots to eat at and it has the very best gyros in brooklyn. the salmon kebabs are great as well. they have a garden style outdoor seating area that offers a very unique feel. Pros: Delicious Food at Reasonable Pricing and Great Ambience Cons: none more

NOT GOOD ... Stay AWAY 3/28/2007

When the Turkish community first became popular in Brooklyn, this was a very good place to dine. Pros: NONE Cons: MANY more

Not what it used to be 2/9/2007

Insanely expensive. We spent over $70 for two people. Prices are outrageous, service is slow. You pay for lamb, yet they bring you beef. To be honest Sahara is not what it used to be. I would not recommend it. Cons: no parking more

Priced to much !! 12/23/2006

Don't get me wrong the chicken kebab is good but not for 20.00 bucks!!! Oh you get rice with it...big deal!! If you like turkish food try another place and save money there's nothing there to justified the price nothing not even the service...!! Pros: chicken kebab Cons: everything else more

WAY OVERPRIZED 11/12/2006

best Turkish food! 8/2/2006

If you are into the delights of Turkish cuisine, which is almost everything Eastern Mediterrenean and MiddleEast, Sahara is far better than any Turkish restaurant in Manhattan. No, it is not a fancy place for romantic first date, but it has a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, and very child friendly. The food...oh, the food.. fresh, delicious and deservingly priced. Sahara is for those who enjoy eating and responses to a wide range of preferences.. more

Dee-lish 6/29/2006

The food here is delicious and fresh. My favorite thing on the menu is the shepherd's salad, which is very light and chock full of feta cheese. They have a dining room or you can go in and order things to go. Parking is pretty much non-existent here so you really have to give yourself time and not already be hungry when you go. Just let someone sit in the car and order to go! more

Great Authentic Food 6/29/2006

I go to this place whenever I'm in the neighborhood. Their food is really good and plentiful. The delicious dishes are prepared in front of your very eyes and served right away! The setting is beautiful with a nice outdoor option in the summer. PROS: Great food CONS: none more

Best place for authentic meditteranean cuisine! 2/24/2006

Ok, yes its is far out in the middle of brooklyn, yes the wiaters can be hot or cold, but this place knows what its doing. Iv been going to this restaurant since I was a kid and have been more times than I could eer remeber and they have never provided me with a bad meal or for that matter anything less than the bets tatsing kebabs, shepherds salad with feta, lentil soups, yogurt and hot sauces, spinach pies, baklavas, and freshly made out fo the oven bread I ahve ever had outside of the meditteranean istelf. I never complain bout a $25 mixed grill or something ebcause their portions, quick service, andtaste are worth it. Pros: great food, valet parking, large space Cons: loud, not good for dates more

So overpriced!!! 12/24/2005

$19.95 for a medium-sized plate of so-so hot appetizers? (this price is not a typo) Pros: food was fresh Cons: overpriced!!!, overpriced!!!, bland-tasting more

Great place 9/29/2005

This is a great place to take the whole family. It is quite large and beautiful. There is also an outside area in the back. It is usually very busy, so expect a wait . They serve delicious turkish food. The price is a little expensive, it's not for someone who is on a strict budget. They have a great assortment of food on the menu. The decor is very nice, with fish tanks and flower arrangements. I would really recommend this place, however if you are coming with a large group I sugggest you call first since it is usually very packed and crowded, especially around holidays. I drove by on mother's day and was planning on going, until I saw the line outside. Overall it's a great place. more

Nothing but the best. 9/2/2005

The Gyros here are just amazing. I cant even describe. Hot and fresh all the time and whats really great is that everything is made to your preferences and right in front of you. There are alot of choices on the menu and they are all good. PROS: food is awesome and open real late CONS: parking in that area is not the best more

The Sultan of all Kebabs. 1/30/2005

Great middle eastern food in Brooklyn. Must try appetizers are the shepherd salad w/feta, the lebne (yogurt w/walnuts and garlic) and the salmon in grape leaves. The homemade bread served at every table will bring you back each time. The fried calamari is done well in a very light batter with a creamy dip sauce. Their whole fresh fish or fish kebabs are all grilled to perfection. The chicken kebab is great and usually better than the lamb, but the lamb and pork chops are amazing. The yogurt kebabs are very special - chicken or lamb kebabs served on top of a pool of yogurt and lightly fried pita chips. The combination is incredible! In warmer weather, the back is open and is a nicer atmosphere than the too bright interior. But the custom printed tables, dishes, and water pitchers are almost worth the trip alone! Pros: great grill, large space - no line, good for groups Cons: service is eh, interior is weird more

Ok experience 11/27/2004

I had lamb kabob, but it was very dry and tough. I tried my friend's chicken and it was very tender and yummy. Perhaps next time I will get the chicken. The feta cheese wrapped in filo dough and deep fried is a MUST TRY appetizer. Baklava was soo sweet and soggy. more

Great Middle Eastern Food 8/6/2003

This place serves food good, fast and cheap. I have eaten at Sahara many times and the food is solid. Yes it is far out in Brooklyn, but it's worth the drive more
