I was not impressed with Ruth Chris steak house. The waitress forgot to bring us our second glass of wine with our main entrees, (we each got the wine pairing). So after we ran...

FAB STEAK, AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! 5/21/2007

If cost is a concern... don't go to Ruth's Chris. It can get very expensive. I would say an average dinner for 2 would be $120 - $150. If price is of no concern then definitely visit Ruth's Chris. I had the petite filet with a side of potatoes au gratin. The steak melts in your mouth. I ordered it medium -rare because the steak comes out on a sizzling hot plate. If you like your meat pink in the center I would suggest ordering medium-rare 'cause it will cook a little on the plate. As for the potatoes... YUMMMMMM! If you have a problem with loads of butter and cheese, stay away from the potatoes au gratin. Let me talk about the service now. Our waiter, I wish I remembered his name, was sensational. He was very attentive and possessed an extensive knowledge of wine. He must have popped back up at our booth at least 7 times during our dinner to check on us. He seemed genuine and that's important to me. I will definitely go back for the service, food and ambience. Pros: EVERYTHING EXCEPT COST Cons: COST more

Overrated 5/4/2007

I went to Ruth Chris with my husband for the very first time and I was really excited since I've heard many good things about them. I tried the ribeye and my husband had the cowboy ribeye. It was extremely dry and tasteless. We also ordered the oscar appetizer which included 1 crabcake and 3 pieces of asparagus (not worth it) for $12 and my husband ordered a glass of wine. I wanted a glass of water but they don't give you that option. Instead, they bring a bottle of sparkling water and charge you for the whole bottle. I don't mind paying for the water but I can't finish the bottle by myself! I prefer steak at Houstons or Mastros. The total bill was $150 and I am completely unsatisfied with the food however the service was quite nice. Unfortunately, I will never go there again. Pros: Nice Ambience Cons: Overprice, Overrated, and Tasteless more

Great Steak! Great Service! 2/11/2007

Ruth's Chris is the place to go for great steak. My wife and I has been there for over 4 times, and we love it everytime. I really wish they have the Kobe steak more often (specials). I really love their Kobe, cooked to perfection. The first time my wife and I went there, she had the filet and I had the kobe. Before I took a bite of my steak, I had a piece of her filet. It melted in my mouth, and I was impressed. Then I had my kobe. This changed everything. I could not settle for any other steak except the kobe, where I loved it to the last bite. Now they're presenting the buffalo beef, which is not as good as the kobe, but great in its own. Pros: Kobe steak Cons: not having kobe steak all the time (regular menu) more

Good food, but not so great when it comes to customer service. 2/5/2007

I took out one of my friends to Ruth's to celebrate her birthday. Everything was great as far as food, wine, desserts. The setting was perfect (candles, dimmed light) But here's the catch, it took 45 minutes for someone to take our order. If I didn't go up to the waiter who was serving the other table, they might've forgot about us. Pros: Steak, Dessert, Wine Cons: Customer Service, Vallet more

Pleasantly surprised.... 1/29/2007

Absolutely delicious!!! This was my first time dining at Ruth's Chris and I will definitely go again. I had the petite filet (8 oz.) with a side of sweet potato casserole....my mouth waters every time I think about the food. For dessert, the vanilla creme brulee...amazing...only down side was the bill but it was well worth it!!! Pros: great food & great service Cons: expensive more

Good but not Great 1/2/2007

My expectations were not high as this was a chain restaurant after all. My family had no choice but to dine here because a lot of the other restuarants were closed for New Years. There was five of us and we always dine wisely. Steaks come a la carte and we ordered 4 steaks (filet mignon, lamb chops, rib eye, and t-bone). I reccomend the t-bone, the lamb chops was too gamey. The steaks were juicy and had good flavor. We didn't order any of the side dished but ordered the grilled portobello mushrooms which comes with broccoli, mash potatoes, asparagus, and tomatoes. The entree was a better deal than ordering the individual side dishes. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding with the whiskey sauce on the side and the banana cream pie. They were gigantic and they were under $10. To me, I think the desserts had too much liquer. The food was good but not good enough to come back again, besides there are so many other steakhouses to try like Cut and Mastros. For a party of five with 2 drinks, 5 entrees, 2 desserts, the bill with tax and tip was $265. Pros: quiet (maybe cause monday), juicy steaks, service Cons: nothing spectacular more

A Christmas Eve like NO OTHER! 12/27/2006

It has been a new tradition in my family now to eat out on Christmas Eve, so we don?t have to fight over whose house to celebrate at and no one has to clean up a mess after. So each year as Christmas draws closer we decide on a fine restaurant to celebrate for our annual Christmas Eve dinner. We chose Ruth Chris in Pasadena this year and it was the apex of our Christmas Eve dinning experience thus far. There were 7 of us and we were seated in a private dining room that was round and dome like with a round table perfect for a family dinner. It was nice to be in a private setting and made us feel like we were at home on Christmas Eve. Our server, Karla Elizondo was most informative, pleasant and paid full attention to us. Her demeanor was calming and relaxed us all. She was definitely a reason to come back. The food spoke for itself, from cocktails made with fresh juices, to wonderful sides served family style and steak that melts in your mouth! Everyone at the table enjoyed every bite. We topped off our meal with champagne and Creme Brule for dessert which was the perfect ending to a wonderful, not to be forgotten night. I don?t think we?ll need to search for a restaurant next year for Christmas Eve dinner! I?d like to make our reservations for 2007 now! Pros: Service and food more

Best Steak Place in Pasadena 12/21/2006

We dined here for our anniversary and again for my husbands birthday. The food was exellent. I ordered the garlic encrusted halibut which was cooked to perfection. My husband ordered a steak with the blue cheese. My mother is a vegetarian and they even have a portobello mushroom entree that was excellent. The side dishes were very impressive. This is not the place to go when you are on a diet. The resturant is on the expensive side however in my opinion worth the splurge. Pros: food Cons: cost more

Meat and Potatoes...Sweet Potatoes That Is! 10/29/2006

Great steak...of course, it had better be great for the price! Good wine list. Service was great too! The story of how the steakhouse started is very inspirational. The sides were terrific...especially the sweet potato casserole! You've got to try it...all that butter, pecans and brown sugar on top of the sweet potatotes brought back memories! You can't have just one bite! The ahi appetizer was yummy too! It's a great place for a date but great for groups too! Pros: great steaks, good wine Cons: pricey more

bad service 10/8/2006

A very expensive restaurant which I don't mind, but the service was very bad. With a price like this you would expect a waiter will come to you more friendly and ask how is the dinner, can I get you something else... Our waiter will only come to take our order, put the orders on our table and give us the bill. Not once to say thank you. A eighty something dollars prime rib steak for two - presantation was plain, only steak on the plate. I think Lawry has much tender prime rib, even Houston's prime rib was better than Ruth. But we still give the waiter a 15% tips. more
