Best Vet Office in Chicago 12/28/2011

I've taken my dog to RVAH for 5 years. They have always been great! Very knowledgeable vets. Extremely clean facility. Only downside is that parking can be a bit tough (can always find parking a block or two away, but may not be able to park right out front). I thought they were a bit pricey, but heard from others who have taken their dogs to other offices in chicago area that they are comparable. more

Dr. Rovner Saved My Dog's Life 12/25/2010

Dr. Rovner is the best. I brought in my dog that is 12.5 years old because she stopped eating and looked very lethargic. Dr. Rovner also knew that there was something up with her regardless of her vitals being great. He worked through a process of elimination and figured out what was wrong with her. Throughout the process he was so positive and encouraging, even though I was less than encouraged due to her age. When they found the problem which was a massive splenic mass, he removed it and she rebounded immediately. \r The surgery was 3 days ago and my dog is 100% better. I was a little hesitant about the surgery due to her age, but Dr. Rovner was so caring and positive, and that is what got me to pull the trigger. It was absolutely the correct decision for me and my dog. My 12.5 year old dog was so much better the next day. Dr. Rovner is the best DVM in the city. He is so caring and so meticulous; no wonder why he is in such a high demand. If you are looking for a really thorough veterinarian, Dr. Rovner is who you should see. \r more

No One Better!!!!! 5/7/2010

I have been going to Dr. Rovner for 15+ years now, dogs & cats. There is no one else I would go to. I have even worked in other vet clinics and STILL took my pets to him because he is the best!!! Yep, you may wait awhile, because he does actually care so much and is thorough. Compassionate, educated and professional all the way. He doesn't race through appts., just to get out of his office by 5pm. or to squeeze in as many appts as he can to make the $$$. HE always goes the extra mile, even to the point to come in after hours to check on patients, to stay hours after work to return calls and emails, etc.... I have referred many, many, many other pet owners to him and never once had a complaint.\r \r For those who have bashed him here - If you question his treatments, you may need to ask yourself if you told him EVERYTHING that was going on with your pet and if he said the treatment the was prescribing was the ONLY option? A good start to trying to treat the problem? Trying to elimi more

Roscoe Village Animal Hospital will butcher you 9/15/2009

This place is absolutely preposterous. Exhibit A: Today we took our 10 month old puppy for her follow up appointment on an ear infection. We were told the fee for this would be $35 (keep in mind many places don't even charge for a follow up). As it turns out, her infection had SEVERELY WORSENED during the time since we first visited and had been applying their PRESCRIBED TREATMENT. So, their TREATMENT DIDN'T WORK. You would think they wouldn't charge us for the follow up then, no? WRONG. We were instead CHARGED $175. For a follow up to the appointment that MADE OUR DOG WORSE. Don't get me wrong -- we'd go to any lengths for our dog. We feed her high-quality food and are totally devoted. We'd pay and have for any medicine she needs. But this overcharging instance was not the first time. If you take your dog here for diarrhea, you will be charged $300 before you can blink an eye. While their facilities are modern and the location is central, Roscoe Village Animal H more

I repeat -- THEIR TREATMENT MADE OUR DOG WORSE AND THEY OVERCHARGED US ANYWAY. Pros: Facilities Cons: Overcharging, inflexible, and not qualified more

Bah! Go elsewhere! 7/30/2008

Took my two dogs here for the past year and won't be back. Expensive, indifferent doctors, very much a city practice that delivers zero care and compassion to customers and their pets.\r \r Last straw was about a month ago when my dog was scheduled for a check-up after some minor surgery on his foot. They scheduled us for noon on a Saturday then called less than 24 hrs prior to that appointment to cancel it saying it was over Dr. Rovner's lunch break. Seriously? Give me a break.\r \r The doctors are less than compassionate and frankly, rather aloof when it comes to care of your pets. Add to that they are extremely expensive. For two labs' annual check-ups and Heartguard and Frontline for a year the bill was $1000! No, thanks.\r \r I've gone to a suburban vet recommended by a coworker. Much better experience. Pros: Pros? Seriously? Cons: Aloof, discompassionate staff, high prices more

Dr. Rovner is a fantastic vet 7/10/2008

Dr. Rovner performed double ACL surgery on our dog and she has been doing great. He spends a lot of time with his patients and is very caring and informative. He never pushes products on us and always remembers all the details of our dogs. Of course, we've been going to him for over a decade. We LOVE Dr. Rovner and our dogs do too! We're happy to pay for the excellent service our dogs receive. more

Dr. Rovner = BEST VET EVER 7/10/2008

We've been taking our two dogs to Dr. Rovner for 10 years now, even before he opened up Roscoe Village Animal Hospital and we LOVE Dr. Rovner. He is the most ethical, caring, wonderful vet we've ever met. Our older dog had double ACL surgery which he oversaw and she healed beautifully. Our other dog is hypothyroid and has been doing great on medication. He has taken care of various canine catastrophes and given us great veterinary advice and help. He volunteers for the Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation. If you go to YELP dot COM you will see that Dr. Rovner and Roscoe Village Animal Hospital get 4.5 stars!! Pros: Excellent vets, caring staff, superb facilities Cons: They can be busy, but they have always made time for us when it was an emergency during office hours. more

Very Caring Vet 5/9/2008

I read some of the reviews for my vet Dr. Rovner. Yes his office is nice. I started going there when her was under construction, so that does not come into my review.\r \r I care about the service, knowledge, and pricing. I do not think they are at all overpriced. I think they are a medium priced vet. I wouldn't want to go to the cheapest vet in town. Wouldn't that send up a red flag? \r \r As far as the long wait goes. Yes, i agree. he usually runs pretty far behind. The reason being is Dr. Rovner does not rush through any appointment. He takes the time to spend whatever time is needed.\r \r Scott treated both my dog and me with caring concern. He made a very bad situation, pleasant if you can say that. I brought my dog to 3 other vets before coming here to find a vet that would do a needle biopsy, before proceeding with an invasive surgery. Although he did find in cancer in the needle biopsy atleast I knew before having to make large incisions. \r \r He also does quite a bit o more

Horrible, Inept & Uncaring Vet! 1/13/2008

Scott Rovner = HORRIBLE VET!\r \r To read entire detailed review - Go to Yelp dot com and search for Roscoe Village Animal\r \r Afte what Scott told me and did - this is what my surgeon told me ? ?You seem like a smart girl & I?m sure you already know what to do?but you should NOT go back to this guy?.\r \r And if you love your pet the way I love my pooper girl ? neither should you! Pros: Not one thing! Cons: ""State of the art"" equipment that no one is able to use! more

No complaints here! 5/11/2007

I love Dr Rovner and his staff, my dogs and I are always treated like family and my pups actually LOVE going there! They drag me through the door! I have never met a staff so personable and accomodating. I won't go anywhere else. more

Great package ~ lousy services ~ expensive - not worth it. 4/9/2007

When you first walk in, you are impressed with the establishment. It is nicely decorated, clean and accessible with convenient parking out in front. \r \r But once you get passed the receptionist, your looong journey begins. Once you are called into a room you are left for quite a while, while different staff members come and make small chat with you at different intervals. The check ups are pre-mature and not thorough. Then they come in with a pre-printed assessment of what your fee will be. This would be good if it was accurate but they give you a low end and a high end fee (which is usually doubled), with a great huge gap in between. They leave much room for them to gouch out your eye balls and maybe even an arm & a leg, and still be able to say that the fee was discussed up front. An average person will not understand alot of the terminology in this contract without intensive research (which one cannot do at the moment).\r \r Some of the staff is friendly & considerate but others are more
