Some might not like that a place runs out of food but I believe its the mark of a great restaurant. Would you rather have food that is a day old or something fresh? At Ron's every...

I have to admit that as much as I can not stand the folks who work there, the desire for the ribs is to great. I eat them plain, no sauce, and keep the sides. The ribs are out of ...

a pleasant surprise 11/4/2007

Our son recommended Ron's, so we tried it last night for his 25th birthday. The food was excellent, served hot and delicious. The chicken was tender, tasty and along with\r coleslaw and the mac and cheese, I'm totally convinced . My\r husband had the ribs, so tasty, loved the cornbread. Ron\r and his wife were friendly, made us feel very welcome. We\r will definitely be back there to try any other entree on their\r menu. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: fun Cons: parking on a Saturday Night more

Sweet & Spicy 8/7/2007

What a great find, and right in the middle of the city. From the warm welcome to the super delicious BBQ everything was as good as it gets. I was in absolute heaven with the spicy pork ribs and the baked mac-n-cheese was to die for. Although quite delicious, be prepared to have a cold beverage handy for the kick that is served up with the ribs! Its not to understand why this place has been around for so long. I have already passed on the news to friends about Ron's and looking forward to my next slab! more

Best ribs in Philly! 3/19/2007

This place is downright great. These are handsdown the best ribs I've ever had in Philly, and their baked mac n cheese is pretty awesome too. Come to think of it, everything I've had here is just about the best in it's style of food. My only regret is that I rarely get there early enough for the heavenly cornbread, it goes quick! more

Amazing. Period. 1/25/2007

I have gone here only twice and I'm addicted. This food is AMAZING. I am determined by the end of the month to try every single item on that menu, it's that good. I've already had the chicken, and the pulled pork. Both were delicious. The place has a brick oven and they actually smoke the meat right there. If that isn't amazing, I don't know what is. The pricing is cheap, even for a student such as myself, and it's a good meal. Very filling and a lot for your buck. I haven't had this good of a meal since I left for college about two years ago, and even so, I'm not sure if my mom can even compare. I could go on for hours but I'll leave it at this. Go to Ron's Ribs. If you don't like it, you can personally come find me and I'll pay you. Go. Now.\r \r P.S. The cornbread is to die for. Make sure to get it. Pros: Everything. Cons: Messy but who cares?! more

Can't be beat! 1/16/2007

Ron's Ribs has delicious, meaty ribs-- perfect for those days when you're feeling particularly carnivorous and need a quick fix. Pair them with one of the best hot sauces I've ever had (not only considerably spicy, but great tasting!) and there's nothing else you could ask for. The mild sauce is good too, but I think the hot sauce really seals the deal. The corn bread is a perfect side dish to go with your meal-- though sometimes they run out. Just one word of warning: you'll smell like smoke and ribs for at least a few hours after leaving. Pros: Amazing hot sauce, student discount Cons: Your clothes will smell like ribs for a while more

comfort food at it's finest 10/25/2006

In the mood for some southern style BBQ, look no further than Ron's..and yes, Ron is there all the time. His wife and him run a small kitchen and produce some of the tastiest ribs ever...and if you are lucky enough to get there early be sure to get the home made skillet cornbread, complete your meal with some greens and mac and cheese...are you needing some more comfort? Then throw in some BBQ chicken and don't be afraid to ask for some extra BBQ sauce, cause it is that good. There is some seating inside and out but I usually bring it home, but if you sit in, Ron is sure to charm you. Pros: it's good food... Cons: messy fingers more

Too hot to handle 8/24/2006

I ordered two dinners and the sauce was way too hot. I couldn't even enjoy them. I would recommend another rib joint if you're visiting Queens NY. We've been going there for a while and they have big ribs and a nice mild sauce. The address is 157-06 Linden Blvd\r Jamaica, NY. We've checked out some a nationwide BBQ fest, and one in Boston. The Rib Shack in Jamaica Queens is the best so far. The sides are generous and it comes with cornbread. The greens and the black-eyed peas with rice rock. It's a cafeteria style, no seating, no nonsense kinda place.\r \r Definitely worth the trip.\r more

Best Barbecue!!! 8/2/2006

I would recommend Ron's Rib's to anyone who is a Lover of Barbeque ribs or chicken. I was recently on a business trip to Philly and wanted some ""Down Home Cookin"" delivered to my hotel room. Ron's Rib delivered my food quickly and provided me with excellent customer service. The food was hot and delicious. It was so good I ordered two nights in a row!!! When visiting Philly you must try Ron's at least once. more

Best Ribs in Town 6/9/2006

I saw Ron Rib's featured on Roker on the Road so we tried it. They were the best ribs I ever had. The place is not fancy but the service and food is good.\r \r more

I loved it!!!! 7/9/2005

i would highly recomend that everyone tries rons ribs..i went there a week ago and cant wait to go back. the ribs were great and the mac n cheese and collard greens are to die for.the people are friendly and made the dining experience great.i can see why they have been around for so long. Pros: inexpensive, not crowded more

You'll be back for more. 6/25/2005

These ribs are scrumptuous and you can't beat the sides of rice and beans, greens (in a salty bacony vinegary sauce), sweet cornbread, macaroni and cheese, and yams (to name a few of the options). The beef ribs are so tender, they are falling off the bone. The atmosphere is smokey; the workers are friendly, and the prices are reasonable. This is a place that takes BBQ very seriously and prides itself on being a neighborhood institution. This has quickly become one of my favorite destinations for comfort food. Pros: Inexpensive, Delicious, Unpretentious Cons: Sticky tables, Styrofoam containers more

Great Ribs 3/16/2005

Yes, the hot sauce is a little too hot, but I find the ribs to be delicious. Even more highly recommended are all the sides (macaroni and cheese and cornbread being my most favorite). The second floor party room is a bit lacking, but I think its still a work-in progress -- and the ambience of the first floor / entrance cannot be beat (its like walking into some Georgia bbq joint in 1960). more

Highly Addictive! 6/18/2004

Ron's is my favorite BBQ restaurant in all of Philadelphia. My boyfriend and I got addicted to Ron's years ago when we first tried it. They use spices from all around the world to make their famous sauce, which has to be the most delicious BBQ sauce ever. Try their delicious BBQ ribs and chicken wings. Green beans or red beans and rice are nice sides and for dessert try their heaven sweet candied yams in melted brown sugar. Their homemade lemonade and iced tea are perfectly sweetened and highly refreshing. The only thing one needs to be cautioned about is that they don't always have everything on the menu in stock. You may want to call ahead of time and ask or your best bet is just to go early! Pros: delicious, reasonably priced, friendly family more
