i've been here for a year and had trouble finding authentic pizza in houston.... and this place rocks. great food, reasonable price, new york friendliness. really! : ) that's a go...

Worst

I love NY pizza. So when I hear the reviews of Romano's, I went. I fail to see the comparison to their pizza and NY pizza other than the general circular appearance. It was not...

I love this place 5/18/2005

I'm not normally into greasy food but boy am I glad that I ate here. The food is that greasy, gooey, old world pizza that is infamous. I recommend it for groups of friends. more

A slice of New York 5/18/2005

Great Pizza, Great Pasta & Great Service. Frank and Vinny are great! Authentic Italian New york natives. The Shrimp Parmigiana is excellent, as well as, the Baked Ziti. Even the Spaghetti with Marinara has its own flare. But you must accompany everything with a slice of cheese pizza, it is like no other in Houston. Outside dining is nice at night or in the day for people watching! It's overall an excellent casual Italian restaurant and pizzeria! more

Best Pizza 4/26/2005

Coming from New York, this is the best pizza that Houston has to offer. My children were born and raised here in Houston and grew up eating Pizza Hut. When I took them there and told them this is what real pizza taste like, they don't want to eat any other pizza now, it's the BEST IN HOUSTON!!!! more

Best Pizza in Houston 4/26/2005

Best NY-style pizza in Houston. The salads are great, as are the pasta dishes. Get a big slice of cheese pizza and watch a game on ESPN. It's a cozy, friendly place that I return to again and again. I can't eat another other pizza since discovering Romano's. more

Decent pizza 7/26/2004

The pizza was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. The pastas looked a bit pricey for a casual joint. Pros: clean, easy parking more

If you're Italian... 5/26/2004

You're going to love this place. Run by two cousins from Queens, NY, I found this to be a nice bit of home, with cooking that would make my Grandma happy. Molto bene! Abondanza! Pros: Quality, Authenticity, Menu more

BEST PIZZA IN HOUSTON 5/9/2004

You want the best pizzza in Houston-you'll find it at Romano's! There's always some pasta dinner specials on the daily blackboard...try 'em! Two of my favorite dinners are the Chicken Marsala and good ol' Spaghetti with Meatballs. Romano's is a River Oaks favorite....get take out or enjoy very casual dining in their newly constructed ""strip center"" cafe. This place is popular for one reason---THE FOOD!!! You won't be disappointed! Pros: Best Pizza, Great Pastas, Good $ Value Cons: Busy at times more

Romano's should be #1 12/11/2003

O.K. - So Star delivers, but if you REALLY want good quality pizza or fresh from an Italian kitchen pasta dishes, Romano's is the place to go! Drop some white linen on the tables there and they could charge twice what they do for their food. The owners/chefs are fun, everyone knows your name and they have the best food in the city -- A CAN'T MISS!! Faithful diners - Michelle & Glenn more

Just like home 11/10/2003

As a native New Yorker transplanted to Houston ten years ago, Romano's was a dream come true when they opened. Over time, they have only gotten better--their pies are just like I remember, their pasta is like being at Grandma's house and their shop is fast and no-nonsense! Easily best NY Pizza in the Houston area--and believe me, I looked around for what I missed for a long time! Pros: Fantastic Pizza, Fast, Inexpensive more

not calling again 7/14/2003

I really enjoy the pizza at Romanos and they are located pretty close by but after tonight, I am not placing an order with them again. 20 minutes after placing an order over the phone, I was told at the shop that an order had not been placed. They were not apologetic nor did they concede that they could have done anything wrong. This is after a few other times when the service left much to be desired. I am done with Romanos. I had high hopes but decent pizza is too easy to find to continue to be treated like this. Pros: food Cons: bad service, bad service more

Yummy Pizza 6/12/2003

Great pizzas; great pasta dishes; good meat dishes Lasagna is delicious Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food Cons: Strip mall ambiance more

Overrated 4/29/2003

I love NY pizza. So when I hear the reviews of Romano's, I went. I fail to see the comparison to their pizza and NY pizza other than the general circular appearance. It was not bad, but I was expecting much better. For average pizza, go there. Pros: fair pizza, good location Cons: fair pizza, pricey pasta more

The best of the best 3/24/2003

Without a doubt, the best in Houston and most probably the entire Southwest. Pros: Food, Parking, service Cons: Location more

Romano's Rocks My Italian World 1/24/2003

I am a devoted Romano's customer. My family and I have been eating since it first open a few years ago. I can still remember the day I tried their pizza. Yum! And their pastas are fantastic. Their salad dressing is to DIE FOR!! Always ask for extra, so you can dip your garlic bread into it. Pros: Great Environment, Friendly-Funny Staff more

Delicious & Fast! 1/24/2003

I love Romano's! Their red sauce is the best and I also love the Lobster Ravoli, Manicotti, and of course, their pizza! Romano's is a cheap eat and a quick bite! Very friendly service too!! Pros: Food, Service, Price more

Great Food, Great Guys 1/11/2003

I am from New York, and this is by far the best pizza that I have had since moving here. It is just like a real pizzeria, real italians behind the counter. Sure they might be a little gruff, but isnt every New Yorker? more

Highly Overrated!! 1/8/2003

My wife and I were expecting great things after seeing Romano's ranked as one of the best pizza's in town. We were highly disappointed. We found the service to be rude, the atmosphere/place wasn't nice at all, it was expensive and the pizza was average at best. Stick to Fuzzy's on Kirby if you want a good pizza...(try the Florida it's our favorite.) more
