Rocket Video is a really good neighborhood store. It has a good collection on DVD and VHS, with a more foreign, independent and generally eclectic selection than the chain video stores. Rentals are $3.25 for two nights, with a late fee of $3.25 per day thereafter. There is an annual membership which is about $30 dollars, which gives you a dollar off each rental (and each day's late fee). I think Netflix and similar services are a much better deal if you rent tons of movies. But if you're like me and watch most movies on cable and almost never rent, Rocket gives you a good selection and fair pricing. I recently rented an indie title there that was not available from Blockbuster, Hollywood Video or 20/20 Video, to give you some idea that their selection is better. Be careful if you bring kids in there, though, as last time I went in they were loudly playing "Glengarry Glen Ross" in the little home theatre they have set up in the back, and Alec Baldwin was giving a speech with every four-letter word imaginable.
