Why is there writing on my shirt 3/23/2008

I posted a review a couple of years ago for this place and gave it 2 stars. I'm trying to give it 0, or even a negative, but I'm not allowed to. I brought in a work smock and some of my boyfriend's shirts for laundry. A couple of months later, I noticed a small "am" written in permanent black marker on the bottom of my work smock. I didn't remember it being there before, but I thought maybe it had been there all along and I just didn't notice it. Because I got it from work, I thought it used to be someone else's and they had written their initials on it. Today, my boyfriend was putting on one of the dress shirts I had taken to launder there and he asked why "am" was written on his shirt in black marker. !! Too much of a coincidence. I went to his closet and looked at the other dress shirts that I had taken in at the time and found that "am" had been written in permanent black marker on those as well!!! Why would anyone do that to a shirt they are washing?? I know it is them because I only took the shirts and smock to get laundered once and I am the only other person who washes them. I will NEVER, EVER go back. (The "am" is written on the very bottom part of the shirt where it is tucked into the pants, so it is not noticeable, but still. . . .!!!!) more

"There's Nothing I Can Do" 6/25/2007

"There's Nothing I Can Do". That is the ONLY response, repeated over and over again, I could get from an employee and her manager of Rick's in Georgetown. My problem was a ruined shirt, one they'd previously laundered a number of times. The issue appeared to be that it was laundered with another item that ran its dye over my shirt. But, "There's Nothing I Can Do" was the only response until finally the manager indicated that I'd had the shirt laundered too many times causing it to run all over itself (it wasn't the same color). So now of course it's not Rick's fault, it's my fault. I wonder what the critical number of Rick's application of laundering a shirt constitutes the cut off figure for no-more-laundering-of-an-item-or-the-dye-will run Go figure. Still, "There's Nothing I Can Do". I guess that mantra is part of their training to be used in all cases regarding Customer Service; a valid assumption since any human being with an IQ at least equal to their age would be able to deal with customer complaints in a more reasonable fashion. They weren't even willing to reimburse the amount they charged me to ruin my shirt. more

Ruined My Sweaters! Lousy Customer Service. 3/23/2007

Ruined two new sweaters; a cashmere and wool sweater gotten in NOV and DEC. When I took the clothes out of the bag and tried on the wool sweater the neckline was stretched all out of shape and there was a small hole in the back of the sweater. The cashmere sweater had similar smaller holes in one sleeve. I had had a wool sweater cleaned there previously without a problem. When I took the sweaters back and complained they could've cared less - I requested a ticket for them and indicated that the items were a wool and cashmere sweater. They wanted to know how long I had them, how much I paid and how many times I wore them - the counter person had to call someone because they couldn't find the forms. After leaving the sweaters for a week I stopped in again and they told me to call Barbara in Customer Service. She did not return my calls (even though her message says she would call back right away) until I told her that it had been 3 weeks and if I did not hear from her promptly I was going to call Fox 7 on Your Side. I then got a message that said to go to the 620 store to pick up my sweaters and the paperwork - I just did and the paper attached to the sweaters said the holes were caused by moths! If I want to I can pay $25.00 to have them analyzed - if not moth holes they will then do something. I told them that was not satisfactory and got a big lecture about having my house checked for moths - and that moths don't fly - you can't see them she said. I am so exasperated with these people who wouldn't know customer service if it bit 'em on the nose! I guess I'm out $120.00 bucks on sweaters and am very glad I did not take my daughter's wedding gown, my dress and a bridesmaid dress there to be cleaned. Thank you for allowing me to spread the word. more

Cheap price 4/15/2006

Whenever I go in here, the lady at the counter looks like she doesn't want to be there. Almost to the point of being rude, but not quite. Their prices are way cheap, though, and I have been a couple of times to get some dry cleaning done. I'm not so sure I will go back, however. I dropped off some shirts to be laundered. When I got them back, one of the shirts had two tiny brown stains on them that weren't there before. Looked like rust stains (?). Another shirt, I usually wash and iron myself. When I got it back from them, it looked dirtier than when I had dropped it off! Now I am a little wary to take my dry cleaning there. more

Did good job on all but one article of clothing 10/14/2005

Driving by, always saw the neon sign for $1.89 cleaning. Since it was pretty cheap, though I'd give it a shot. Didn't expect spectacular cleaning, but also didn't expect them to ruin my clothes. Pointed out the stains to them. They made jotted that down. Note: They only accept cash. After picking up my clothes, I noticed that the stains were removed. So that was nice. But, somehow, they removed all the stitching along the bottom of one of my skirts! How is that possible?! So the part that was folded up and sewed was now hanging losely. It looked terrible. I didn't go back to complain because they're store seemed a little bit shady and I'm pretty sure they would deny liability. So I sewed it back up myself, and it just doesn't look the same. I loved this skirt too. more
