Poor Quality 4/28/2016

I purchased a Stanley bedroom furniture last year, delivered 12/18/15. Three pieces had defects: the dresser had a cracked back piece, the headboard had 3 streaks and the chest had a blister bubble. The only piece that has been repaired after 3 months was the back piece on the dresser, which had a label "Made in Vietnam." The other 2 pieces have not been repaired, and the store made us pay the entire balance upon delivery. I only bought this brand because of the reputation, don't be fooled like I was. more

Beauty Only Skin Deep from 15 feet Away 3/8/2014

Spent a lot of $$ on a complete Stanley bedroom set. Once it was delivered, I found the stain finish extremely thin and slopped on - with several globs / thick spots and a lot of places so thin, you could see the natural color of the wood. Also, when my furniture arrived, the night stands were extremely scratched and marred. The dealer contacted the Stanley regional manager and after several calls from me, they eventually sent out a fix-it guy who did a fair job refinishing the end tables out on my deck. In addition, the stain on my armoire and dresser mirror was not even thoroughly dry when it arrived at my house. Stain got on my wall and my hands and my pants. The entire episode with Stanley was a stress producer. Furthermore, the fit and finish of the drawers and hardware leaves a lot to be desired. I will never buy Stanley furniture again. more

I'll never buy Stanley again 6/11/2013

I bought a very expensive bedroom set. Each night table had 6 drawer pulls. Most of them have snapped off in the last three years. Very cheap poor quality!! Not sturdy at all!! I contacted Stanley to get replacements. They say they no longer make the pulls and I should buy something at my local hardware store to replace all of them. This is not a typical pull. It has a back plate and each has two screw holes. I will never be able to find a pull that will fit the space and cover up the screw holes and the marks left by the original hardware. VERY shoddy construction for VERY overpriced furniture. I own many good quality brands of furniture. This is definitely not one of them. I will never buy Stanley again. more

Stanley Bedroom Sets - We learned our lesson. 4/12/2013

We purchased two bedroom sets for our daughters. A short while after the warranty period expired we noticed the paint on one of the dressers began to peel. We were told by Darvin where we purchased the furniture that Stanley will not do anything to help us and we were on our own. They will not even send or sell you paint so you fix it yourself. It seems to me that furniture paint should not peel after a year and if does the vendor should have a better answer than tough luck. I have learned my lesson, no more Stanley products for us. Extremely disappointed, we always thought they were a higher quality product. Unfortunately, I had to give them one star because there was nothing lower. more

Same Quality as Big Lots furniture poor customer service! 3/11/2013

Bought many Stanley products over the years and have I recently had a problem with my bed falling apart. After 5 emails asking somebody to call me back and a month or so waiting I was told via email that quality control said there was nothing they can do. Whatever you do don't buy Stanley Furniture as the quality is inferior! more

Not lasting as expected 1/24/2012

We've had my daughter's bedroom furniture for just over five years and the vanity/desk is wobbling and the paint is peeling. Given my childhood bedroom furniture lasted over 30 years, I expected this piece would at least last a decade. We are very disappointed in Stanley. more

Do not buy Stanley Furniture 1/6/2012

I bought two continuum chairs from Home Gallery Stores at $579 each. The chairs are advertised to be 21 inch high. They are 2 inch short and it makes them useless. There no customer service and there is nobody to understand the problem. I am not buying anything from them again. more

Stanley: Young America 10/10/2011

Great solid furniture! Takes a little longer for shipment which is odd since it's made in the USA. 2 dressers arrived in 6 weeks and crib arrived in 9...3 weeks shorter than what they had estimated though. Come in a wide assortment of colors! Had a drawer problem and the warehouse sent me a new one in 2 1/2 weeks without any problems. more

Dont buy, dont trust Stanley! 4/15/2011

I purchased over $2k worth of furniture from them and 7 weeks later they still will not give me any shipping information. They have lied to me repeatedly: 1) told me the furniture was in stock before I ordered, then claimed it was back ordered 3 weeks later; 2) given me at least 3 dates that the furniture was supposedly ship - it wasnt; 3) when I send them an email accusing them of fraud and intentionally misleading a customer, they send me a nice not thanking me "for putting my trust in Stanley". I will be filing complaints with the secretary of state in CA and VA and anywhere else that will listen. Save yourself some time and frustration - DO NOT BUY STANLEY!!! more

Quality Furniture That Stands Up to the Test of Time 12/28/2006

We have purchased a few pieces of furniture over the last 10 years and have learned a few things. Furniture that is made from a soft wood, like pine, or furniture that has to be assembled will not stand the test of time. We purchased a nice maple bunk bed for our oldest son when he was 3. The bed was manufacutred by Stanley Furniture. It was definitely more expensive than other beds we could have purchased, but when we consider how great it looks after 6 years of tough love by our son, it was worth every penny. Pine furniture we bought around the same time looks completely beaten up and gets dented and nicked every time it comes in contact with a toy or a person. With 3 boys in our home, this means that most of our furniture takes a beating. Even furniture we've purchased that has hard wood veneers does not hold up as well as high quality, hard wood furniture. We recently purchased another bed when our baby moved out of his crib and into a bed. We looked at Costco, Dania, JC Penny Home, Levitz, Wickes and several other furniture stores. What we found was that most furniture is now made with very few solid wood pieces or is made with soild soft woods. We had a very hard time finding an inexpensive piece of furniture that wasn't made from MDF covered in veneers. So, we bit the bullet and purchased another Stanley bed, but I know it will be the last bed we will have to buy our son. The bed was part of the Young America line of furniture by Stanley and we were able to purchase it at Paul Schatz in Lake Oswego, Oregon. I realize you are probably looking to spend a lot less on a bed, but you definitely get what you pay for. My suggestion would be to check Craigslist.com or your local paper's classified ads. Also, put the word out that you are looking for a high quality used bed. I have a friend who did this and a friend of a friend happened to be getting rid of 2 Ethan Allen twin beds for $200 for the set! I would pick a high quality used bed over an inexpensive, cheaply made, new bed any day. I hope this helps. more
