Best

If I want a burger and have time to drive to Red Mill, this is where I'm going.

Worst

One of the most popular burger places in Seattle is plagued with long lines, slow cooks, and a bad attitude towards technology. While the burgers are usually above average, t...

Good, but not worth the long wait 7/27/2011

Red Mill makes above-average fast food burgers, at above-average fast food prices, and potential half-hour waits. It's Kid Valley with slightly better quality, slightly more interesting ingredients, and about a thousand times the undeserved popularity. more

Best Burger in the Area 10/12/2006

We read about Red Mill in GQ Magazine, as being one of the best burger places in the US....and we were not disappointed! Its a little noisy inside and there can be a line out the door, but its worth the wait for the food. My mouth was watering looking at the stacks of fresh bacon they have piled in the kitchen as we waited to order. There are a couple of picnic-style benches outside that we found much more peaceful to eat at, even though you're right on the street. Nice restrooms too. Definitely the place to take friends and family, this place has such charm. more

Best Burger Every Time 10/3/2006

I love Red Mill Burgers -- and it looks like everyone else in Seattle feels the same way. I have taken pretty much every out-of-town friend to the Phinney location, and make it there as often as my waistline will allow. I love everything I've tried on the menu. My favorites things on the menu are: Bleu Cheese and Bacon Burger -- one of my out-of-town friends that I took recently exclaimed that the bacon and bleu cheese was the best he'd had in a long time, even on their own. This burger is a true masterpiece. Red Onion Jam Burger -- heaping pile of caramelized red onions... what more is there to say? I love it with a good slice of cheese, too. Verde Chicken Burger -- this one is really my favorite of any of the burgers, even though it's chicken. It is what I order every time I go... A nicely roasted Anaheim pepper (which can vary in heat -- sometimes I have to wash it down with a milkshake, sometimes I'm ok) with cheese and lettuce, tomato, and deliciously grilled chicken. It's slightly lower in fat and makes me feel like I'm splurging without feeling guilty. This burger is very very good. The Onion Rings -- Yum. Best I've had in Seattle. The Fries -- It's always a disappointment when your burger place doesn't have good fries -- these are top-notch! Red Mill is vegetarian friendly, too. They offer great veggie burgers, which are just as delicious as the meat ones. Just make sure to leave the sauce on the burger -- it makes them that much more delicious (this coming from an ardent avoider of restaurant "special" sauces). If you haven't tried Red Mill yet - go! more

The perfect bacon burger 7/26/2006

If you're seeking the best bacon burger in Seattle, be sure to check out this always busy greasy spoon in Phinney Ridge. The line may look long, but the service is relatively quick and the burger is the best in the city. Also try the Walla Walla sweet onion rings! Yum! more

Another Red Mill Burgers Blue Ribbon Review 5/17/2006

Yep, another happy Red Mill Burger fanatic! There's no need waiting for a blue ribbon review, there are plenty! But you will have to stand in line for the burger, particularly on a Friday night. The line moves quickly though, and there is ample seating outside which often spills over to the Starbucks next door. There is also no worries missing your order as they have a loud speaker that calls out your name when your foods ready. These burgers are good, they have fresh thick sliced red onion, fresh leaf lettuce and other yummy toppings to choose from. Try there spicy onion rings and their wonderful thick and creamy shakes too. Remember, no checks or credit cards, they are a cash only establishment and worth every penny. more

Believe the hype 5/11/2006

After a very disappointing experience with the over-hyped Dick's Drive-In, I was reluctant to try Red Mill Burgers. I'm happy to say that the burgers were really good. Their counter service, with some seating allows for quick, tasty burgers. Definitely a place to visit. more

Fabulous Veggie Burgers and Shakes 4/28/2006

It’s just my luck that I always seem to crave their veggie burgers and Oreo shakes on Mondays, the one day they’re closed. As long as you remember that, and remember to come with a book or a good conversationalist, you should be happy with your experience. The only complaint I’ve heard from my friends is about the long wait, but once you’ve tasted their food I expect you’ll understand why Red Mill is always so busy. more

Best in the west 4/14/2006

There is not much more I can add here. I almost wish I could write a bad review of this place to make the review more interesting but that would be a lie. Red Mill is the best place to fulfill your hamburger craving in the Seattle area. They serve a wide range of burgers, a smattering of chicken, and have a couple of offerings for vegetarians. The secret here is the right proportion of fresh local ingredients, to grease. For example, the thick patties are made of high quality beef and are topped with Tillamook Cheese. Also, forget your plan to go there in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday to avoid the line. There is always a line at Red Mill. more

Excellent Burgers 4/11/2006

The burgers at this place are just great. Go there an try it. more

Burgers to Die For! 4/3/2006

You just have to love Red Mill Burgers! You enter the small restaraunt and it's kinda cramped, but the smell of onion rings and bacon bring you in. Next to the grill is the BIGGEST stack of bacon you've ever seen. Orders come out quickly and you can even have orders to go. more

Gotta go with the bacon cheeseburger and rings! 3/23/2006

Discovered this place last weekend, and enjoyed it so much we went back the next day! This place forms a line out the door by 11:45, so get there early if you don't want to wait. The onion rings are some of the best I've ever had. Not a huge fan of the fries or lemonade though. Stick with the burgers and rings. more

Yum to the umteenth power!! 12/31/2005

This is THEE best burger joint in town. It's got it all - flavor, atmosphere and price! These burgers are good old fashioned burgers with such extras as red onions stacked up high. Their shakes are made from REAL ice cream (not the nasty soft serve that so many places use now) and the atmosphere is fun, inviting and lively. I get the sense that the people working there really enjoy their jobs. Also - an added bonus...you can call your order in and pick it up! more

Best Burgers 12/12/2005

Yummy flame broiled burgers. It looks simple enough, they are just simple burgers, but they show that most places aren't really trying. After going there recently I decided I can't go to the greasy spoon that I used to go to because their burgers are terrible by comparison. The only problem is they need to open more places. Kind of like In-and-Out-burger if you have been to one of those. more

green chili burger 11/22/2005

I forget the technical name for this burger but it has green chili and cheese and it is to die for. I love it. This used to be my major downfall living just right up the street. I would walk here order my burger and sit outside on at the picnic benches and read my paper. It was sheer bliss. I am not sure about the parking because I am a walker, but for how busy it is inside I am sure parking is hard. As far as affordable, yes it is quite affordable. Taste excellent, and service friendly. more

Fantastic Burgers 10/6/2005

Best burger in Seattle. I wasn't to happy when they switched over to the new fries, but other than that they're great. Creamsickle shake is outstanding if you're looking to expedite your afternoon nap. Don't forget they're closed on Mondays. more

Burger and Onion Ring Heaven!!! 9/22/2005

I agree with all the other reviews. This place has the best burgers-- all those fast food burgers have nothing on Red Mill! Everything I have ever had here has be absolutely amazing. Try the verde burger with fries! The onion rings are great and so are the shakes. They also have chicken burger and veggie options. There is usually a line for lunch on the weekend, but they get through it pretty fast. And don't ever plan on going when the Stones are in town because they close the place down to go to the show! The service is always friendly and speedy. If I ever want a burger, I make the 20 minute drive to Red Mill! more

Great Burgers 9/16/2005

Red Mill is, without a doubt, the best burger in Seattle. The onion rings are also some of my favorites - yummy cornmeal batter. Chicken and vegitarian options are available. The atmosphere is super laid back and the prices are reasonable. You can guarantee a line almost any time of the day - but it is well worth it! Outdoor seating is great for the summer - and gives you somewhere to hang out while you wait for your burgers. Beware - No plastic. Cash or checks only. more

Simple food perfected 8/20/2005

Picture a lunch of the perfect cornmeal-crusted onion rings, a chicken sandwich complimented with sweet red onions and fire-roasted Anaheim peppers, and a chocolate mint shake. Picture your companion’s lunch: a hamburger augmented with blue cheese and crisp bacon, French fries with just the right texture, and sparkling lemonade. Picture again the very best versions of this lunch that you can imagine, and you’ll find yourself imagining Red Mill. more

Burgers and a no cell phone policy 8/20/2005

Some mighty fine burgers. Tasty fries, and some of the finest onion rings ever to slip out of a crunchy crust, is that cornmeal in the batter? Whatever it is it works. You will pay extra for tartar. There is usually a line, and if you haven't heard your name it isn't ready yet. It's relatively fast, filling and just greasy enough. A tasty (not like bun within a bun) veggie burger, but get it verde (with jalapenos and cheese.) Outdoor picnic tables too. Get a chocolate chip mint shake and you're good to go. more

Fun place / great burgers 8/20/2005

If you are looking for a great burger and a fun place to hang out, go to Red Mill Burgers on Phinney Ridge. It is small and it is hard to get a table, but it's worth it. The chicken burger is big and messy, but good. This is a great location - if you live in the neigbhorhood you don't have to worry about trying to park in the small lot that is shared with Starbucks. more
