Throughout the meal we were serenaded by the wonderful sounds of the rushing creek, very therapeutic. No matter which way you were seated there was a beautiful views of either the rushing creek, the nearby mountain tops, the lush flower bed or the rustic restaurant . The meal took the experience to another level. We started with the escargot. It was the first time that I had ever tried them they were excellent. We moved on to our entrees, I had the Halibut which was the fish special for the evening, it was perfectly cooked with great flavor. more

Professional, respectful, charismatic and very attentive. Even when you first sit down, you are welcomed by trusting and responsive employees who truly care about your experience. Although incredibly minimal, mistakes do happen, but every single employee at the Red Lion will go above and beyond your expectations to make sure that you feel compensated for any irregularities in your service. As your dinner progresses, you being to notice that the amount of attention you receive from the staff only improves and increases. By the time you're paying your bill, you don't even want to go anymore. more

Welcoming Decor 5/15/2012

Your first few steps in the door draw you in with its welcoming decor and classy feel. Whether you are waiting to be seated or are simply enjoying a drink at the bar: you can spend hours eying the historic photos, decorations, and ornaments that adorn the inside of the restaurant. Everywhere you look you see a small piece of Boulder history. more

UGH! 10/14/2010

I recently attended a wedding reception at this location. The ambiance was nice and casual. The staff was professional and the appetizers were delicious. However, the main course was absolutely horrifying. I would not recommend this to anyone. Save your money! more

Awesome Outdoor Dining, Friendly Staff & Love the Prime Rib 6/24/2010

I first had dinner here as a guest at my friends wedding. The wedding was really beautiful and the staff was really helpful and it was always easy to find someone to get a beverage. My friend says that they were super awesome to her and her husband and to the rest of her family and friends. The help needed is perhaps a few of the good items could use a revamp. None the less, the food was super, well done on the prime rib, I think I mentioned that. :) The salmon was awesome as well. I will continue to go there when I need to get out of town. Pros: In beautiful area, wait staff cares Cons: Could use some help in areas more

No Thanks 2/28/2010

Disappointing, disappointing, disappointing. This was my first visit to the Red Lion Restaurant. I've driven by it many times and always thought it to be in a great location and very inviting. From the moment I walked in the door I could feel the disappointment sink in. We were seated in a newer addition to the old building which was cold, drafty and had no style or warmth but white walls. Every single one of the waitstaff appeared to be living in lala land. Instead of greeting us our waitress was apologizing for one thing or another the entire meal. She commented after the mistakes and mishaps along with extremely long wait time and screw up on a friends meal that both the owner and chef were ""out of town"". I found that hard to believe during the busy 5280 restaurant week. Once the mix up on the friends entree was brought to their attention one of the waiters had to ""check"" on it TWICE because he obviously wasn't aware of what the entree was supposed to include (described by their menu). Once our waitress finally came to the table, she fed us a lie about the entree we knew to be incorrect after watching others in the dining room get served the actual entree, very uncomfortable and angering. What happened to the customer's always right.... even when they ARE? That along with ho-hum food I would suggest you take your money else where. I will not be returning. Pros: location Cons: little bit of everything. more

Horrible customer service 9/8/2008

When the owner stopped by our table to see how our meals were, and I replied that my meat was dry, he became offended and told me how wrong I was. We were regular customers up until tonight, now we will go somewhere else. I believe if he had tried my meat, he too would have complained. The moral of the story....Don't ask if you don't want to know, and when the customer is wrong, they don't come back. more

Beautiful creekside dining, excellent service, and mouthwatering food. Best game anywhere! 8/1/2008

I have been to many wonderful restaurants throughout the years, but the Red Lion has the most beautiful setting I've found. Their game is masterfully prepared and the Steak Diane (prepared tableside) is the most mouthwatering dish I've had in years. I've also had the roasted quail , Australian lobster tail, and buffalo stroganoff; and I can't wait to try more of their dishes. I haven't had a mediocre or bad one yet!\r Besides the food, the service is beyond compare. I never once had to wait for anything. The staff was knowledgeable, courteous, and pleasant. \r The best part about this restaurant is the creekside dining. Imagine that you're sitting next to a babbling creek nestled in the heart of Boulder canyon, sipping champagne, and blocking out the stresses of everyday life! If you can imagine how great that would be, then you should make a reservation and make it come true! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant! Pros: creekside dining, great food, incomparable service more

Beautiful Outdoor Setting 7/29/2008

My parents came to Longmont to visit from Kansas this past week and I was looking for the perfect outdoor eating experience: I could not have picked a better place than the Red Lion Restaurant. It was a beautiful sunny day we showed up a little after 6:00 and were seated outside on the lawn. Just off to the side of the table was a wonderful stairwell leading down along Boulder Creek. Throughout the meal we were serenaded by the wonderful sounds of the rushing creek, very therapeutic. No matter which way you were seated there was a beautful views of either the rushing creek, the nearby mountain tops, the lush flower bed or the rustic restaurant . The meal took the experience to another level. We started with the escargot. It was the first time that I had ever tried them they were excellent. We moved on to our entrees, I had the Halibut which was the fish special for the evening, it was perfectly cooked with great flavor. The table favorite though was the Buffalo Ribeye ordered by my mother, the meat came out to temperature. She often finds that she has to return meat that has been improperly cooked, not here! The flavor was devine and we were all a tad jealous because of her superior ordering skills. We followed up our entrees with coffee and dessert. This time I won as I ordered the table favorite: White Chocolate Triple Berry Bash I believe, wow, mouth watering good. Service was well timed and attentive throughout the meal. I never felt rushed as we were there to enjoy ourselves and the beautiful setting. All and all a great night, I would definetly recommend to others. We capped off our evening with a nice stroll along the River Walk. Pros: Setting, Food more
