I was very disappointed, food is all over price, the service is not that good. I order my food togo and when I get back home, the portion is not deserved the price they charged...

awesome indo cafe 10/7/2010

I have been to every Indonesian restaurant in L.A, and Ramayani is the best. Try the Nasi Goreng special with satay. The gado gado salad is also very good. The otak otak and corn fritters are very good appetizers.Take a trip up to west l.a to enjoy some good cuisine and warm hospitality. more

disappointed 3/21/2010

I was very disappointed, food is all over price, the service is not that good. I order my food togo and when I get back home, the portion is not deserved the price they charged!! food teat okay but not great. Compare with the Samping Asia, this is nothing, Samping asia food is freshly made, good portion and price is reasonable. I will never again go back to Ramayani, even though I live just down the street. more

I am Dutch/Indo and I have to say that Ramayani's is the best Indonesian restaurant I have ever eaten at. The family that own it are very sweet people. Fabulous Authentic Indonesian Food 5/21/2008

This is simply one of the best eating experiences I've had in LA. As a non-local who's used to great Asian food on every corner I have been starved! for great flavours and have found the food at Ramayani to be very authentic. Definitely recommend it if Real Indonesian food is what you are after! more

A much needed fix! 4/15/2008

I am Dutch-Indonesian and have not had the opportunity to have an Indonesian home-cooked meal in quite some time, so I was beginning to get desperate. I had previously tried an Indonesian restaurant in Alhambra and to my dismay, I was very disappointed. So I have to be honest and say I went to Ramayani with some doubts. I was however, very surprised at how authentic the food is. The flavors were amazing, the portion was generous and they were very nice. I have gone back twice and plan on going back more in the future, it helps that I only work a couple blocks away. How Convenient! : P\r \r I would definitely give this restaurant a try as you will be very impressed!! The Food rocks, parking is a little tough directly near the restaurant but a Ross parking lot is a little bit up the street and there is plenty of space. I've always ordered to go, but the restaurant is nice and clean and it has an ""A"" which is super important.\r Pros: Amazing Food, Authentic ingridients, Nice People Cons: Parking stinks, but this is West L.A, can't have it all! more

Delicious, authentic Indonesian food 3/31/2008

I've never been to an Indonesian restaurant before this one, but I think it was very authentic and charming. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, listed in Indonesian and English. The chicken dish I ordered was delicious, and I had a green jelly drink that nicely offset the saltiness of my entree. The restaurant is family owned and operated - our servers were a softspoken 60-something-year-old man and a middle-aged woman who was probably his daughter. I was surprised by the shelves of Indonesian canned foods for sale and the family pictures at the back, but they really just added to the mom-and-pop feel. Pros: Good food, friendly service Cons: A little cramped more

Delicious 9/22/2007

Had another amazing meal at Ramayani today. After reading complaints about slow service, we decided to bring something to read while we waited. We didn't get very far, though - the service was quick!\r \r The decor is bright and colorful, obviously well thought-out. The hosts are warm and friendly.\r \r As for the food - today we tried ayam bakar (chicken in sweet soy sauce) instead of our usual ayam bumbu rujak ramayani (sweet bell pepper sauce) - and we always request white meat. Both are flavorful and we'd order them again, although we're leaning toward the ayam bumbu.... We always order beef rendang and it did not disappoint! We have enjoyed gado gado and rujak salads here, but skipped them today to try the tumis udang dan pete - a zesty shrimp dish in a sweet tomato & onion sauce. And we allllways order frekedel jagung (corn fritters). You get four, so if there are two of you, be sure to save one each for your meal (it is an appetizer and will come first) - they taste so good with the various sauces of other dishes!\r \r I almost forgot - got black rice pudding for dessert - perfection! Pros: friendly service, outstanding food more

Noodles to die for 2/8/2007

I love this restaurant so much, I decided to eat my birthday lunch there. I've liked everything I've had--the noodles are tender but not mushy, and the spices are flavorful but not overwhelming. I'm not an expert in Indonesian cuisine, but I do know that this is good food! The family that manages the restaurant is friendly, but they don't hover. It's an attractive, comfortable, low-key place to hang out with friends or read a book by yourself. Try the lumpia! more

Simply the best 10/26/2006

This Indonesian restaurant is simply the best Indonesian restaurant I have ever visited in the U.S. They are consistent with the quality of their food and they have large varieties of entrees. I don't have any favorite dish since all of them are simply excellent. Their gudeg, gule, and fried chicken are heavenly. And don't forget their ice teler for dessert. Pros: Food originality more

Did not feel well after meal 7/30/2006

The family who owns the place is very nice, and I thought the food tasted excellent. Unfortunately, I had the stomach problems after eating at the place although my boyfriend was fine. We ordered different dishes though. Pros: nice family-run place Cons: stomach did not feel well after more

Best Indonesian food in the city 6/20/2006

I cannot rave enough about this place. It is extremely delicious. And extremely reasonably priced. The first time we went, I said to my boyfriend in the middle of eating our food, ""This place is so good, I'm already looking forward to the next time we eat here."" And as I got more and more full, I got sadder and sadder that I wouldn't be able to stuff more food in my face. \r \r Try the lamb curry cooked in 15 (or 21 depending on whether you look at the menu or the little plastic placard on the table) spices. Also the watercress is not to be missed. I'm not sure how a dish can be so rich and so light at the same time, but wow. It's really good. Pros: delicious food, helpful staff, good service Cons: The ambience leaves something to be desired-- it's just a dive with great food. more

Great Indonesian Food! 5/27/2006

I grew up eating Indonesian food and this is the Best Indonesian I've had outside my home. My kids loved it! A+++ more

Great Food 8/24/2004

Ramayani is a great and original Indonesian restaurant. They have great service and excellent selection. Their satay combination, nasi uduk, and gule kambing were exceptional. Their ayam goreng (fried chicken) is average. They have a wide variety of dessert and their Ice Teler was exceptionally good also. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like to try real orginal Indonesian food. Their pricing is reasonable. Pros: Reasonable pricing, Great food, great service more

Delicious 2/23/2003

I tried this place with a friend and we were both bowled over by how delicious the food is! The menu presents the food very well for those unfamiliar with Indonesian cuisine. We had a tofu dish, a chicken dish and an appetizer of peanut fritters. The food was perfectly spicy. We also had the lime soda which was great. Lots of choices for vegetarians. Pros: family friendly, vegetarian, delicious food Cons: parking more

The Best Indo In Town! 10/8/2002

Our family is Indo and had a difficult time finding good Indonesian food in Los Angeles. This is the spot for the best and most authentic in town. Most Indonesian restuarants are small, tacky and in some dirty strip mall. This is not one of those experiences. Ramayani is clean, family run and has a pleasant decor. Our family has been eating here for years and Ramayani has consistently had great food and friendly service. We have taken many friends who have never had Indonesian food before and they were excited by the flavors and the experience, most have become repeat visitors. You will love this restuarant! more
