Broke furniture & stole my property - beware! 1/12/2010

Not only did they break 2 pieces of my furniture, they also stole my property. When they broke a dresser drawer, they took it with them promising to repair it. Over 6 months, they refuse to return my phone calls. How they think they can treat a customer like this is disgusting. During the move, they went as slowly as possible and took many breaks. Never go with the cheapest option. Avoid at all cost. Pros: zero Cons: break furniture, steal, lie, horrible customer service, lazy more

The worst movers I have ever dealt with 9/26/2009

Rain City Services did not show up during the two-hour window that they said they were going to. They did not call me. I had to call them! Then, they told me they had ""no idea"" when the movers were going to come, but likely 3 hours late. When I asked for a discount the receptionist, Jo, accused me of being a ""bargain basement shopper"" because I already had a low rate. This was the rate published in their ad! When I told her that I am also in sales and when I don't hold up my end of a deal with one of my clients I offer them a solution, she accused me of giving her a ""hard sell"" (I was not trying to sell her anything) and said that she would not send her movers into the ""hostile environment"" that I created. Keep in mind that they are probably 250-pound men and I am a single, 25-year old female. I couldn't imagine how her movers were ""at risk"". She refused to budge on the discount and could not offer me a time when she could reschedule my move. I will publish this same story in any place possible on the internet, (and to my 500 Seattle-based friends on Facebook) report this company to the any place that I can, and be speaking with the owner on Monday. Thank you for reading! Cons: Did not show up, did not offer to fix problem more

Great Movers! Careful & Professional 1/12/2008

I've used this service twice for moving and had a great experience! BTW I worked for a large moving company at one time- so I know the business. They were 15 minutes late once and called me. They started billing when they started to load. They were polite, worked hard in record time. Yes, they took a well deserved 10 minute break and went right back to work. They were very careful with my stuff and didn't break anything. The owner is a good guy. I can only guess there is more to the negative stories here. In the last few years I've had a positive experience and I'm going to use them again soon. I look forward to having these guys to rely on. more

Excellent Experience with Rain City 12/27/2007

The other posts here do not reflect AT ALL the experience we had with Rain City. We were in a major pinch on 12/19, as eMove rejected our request for services on 12/23 (not sure why?) - we found Rain City via Craigslist. They were very helpful, and we got a hoiday rate of 2 guys & 17' truck/supplies for $70/hr. We were promised a 8:30-9am time, and they showed up early @ 8:22am!! Derek & Derek were professional, very careful with our stuff and moved quickly. We were moving from Cap Hill to West Seattle - the entire move took 3 hours including the drive over there. Nothing was dinged, nicked or damaged. This is the 2nd time I""ve hired movers and we could have not been more pleased. We will be hiring Rain CIty again!! Pros: Great Website, hard working movers, professional Cons: None that we found more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS unless you want to be screamed at!!! 11/28/2007

These guys showed up ontime but decided to take a 10 minute break after 1 hour of moving. They said it was mandated by law. Ha! I told them they can break for as long as they wanted but I was not paying for it. That's when ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE, and the mover (supposedly the owner, WENT BALISTIC and got in my face, screeming at me that I will pay for their break. I had to CALL THE COPS! CALL ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY!!! Pros: None. Cons: Hot Tempered!! more

Awful, Unprofessional, Flaky! 11/2/2007

At least they had the decency to bail on me 10 days before the move as opposed to the day of or even better, when they were already three hours late like some people have had to deal with. Ridiculous. They moved me back in March with no huge problems (though I had to ask for a third guy and he schlepped around wasting my time at $30/hour for the privelege, they were an hour and a half late, took breaks every hour (in spite of being late!) but were generally decent enough for the price. So this time I almost doubled my budget, offered to be flexible and recruit additional help, booked them 2 weeks in advance and got flaked on by email. While calling around for another mover, it appears I got lucky both in March that it went as well as it did, and this time in that they flaked early so I could get someone better in the first place. And by the way, the scheduler/estimator doesn't understand what a split-level house is?!? Pros: Can't think of any at the moment Cons: Unreliable! more

MORTIFYING! 11/1/2007

rescheduled me, charged extra for their slow service as well as destroyed the majority of my furniture and belongings! BEWARE!!!!! Cons: CALLING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE! more

Completely Unprofessional 10/2/2007

We called and scheduled Rain City Services for Sunday, Sept 30th. As with the previous review we were on a tight time frame. They were scheduled to bring 2 people and a 17 foot truck at 830 in the morning. At 832am, they called and told us they were not working that day because it was RAINING. How ironic is that? 'Rain City Services' doesn't work in the rain. I am not sure how you operate a business in Seattle that doesn't work when it's raining... or if that was even the real reason - who knows? more

Professional Movers Without a Truck??? 6/19/2007

This is the first time I've hired ""professional"" movers, but certainly may be my last if the reliability and level of service is any indication of how this industry works. I hired movers for a reason - I was in a pinch and on a strict time schedule. I called them on April 7th needing their services on April 11th. I received a confirmation email on Monday, April 9th stating 2 men and truck would be at my home between 12 and 2. They called the morning of April 10th asking if I had any ""flexibility"" - my answer was no. Thursday morning, instead of 2 men and a truck, as confirmed in the email, a woman, man and van showed up. I was moving from Seattle to Kirkland on a week-day and 2 trips were now required - bridge traffic reared its ugly head. My heavy couch was handled with little to no ""professional"" dexterity I expected from hired movers. The job got done but not without a lot of frusteration that I had hoped to avoid by hiring movers in the first place. Pros: nice website - professional presentation Cons: these ""professionals"" are ill-prepared more
