Queen Bee

I came in looking for a nice cocktail dress and hadn't had any luck at any other stores in the Back Bay area. Luckily, Queen Bee carries a wide variety of dresses and the staff is so helpful that I left with a dress that I will be able to get a lot of use out of. The staff is much more personable than any other I've encountered in Boston and helped me find just what I was looking for. I will definately shop there in the future! They have great clothes, but only size 2 and 4 on display, and asking a sales girl to get a larger size is like asking her to actually do her job, which apparently is not required. I kept apologizing for sending her to the dreaded back (5 feet away) to show me my size -- which I eventually purchased! Spending more than $400 does not grant you better service, it's a wonder they're still in business because the girls seemed determine to not only lose a sale, but run me out of the store as quickly as possible. My husband bought me an utterly over-priced shirt at Queen Bee. When I went to return it, they told me that they couldn't take it back (not even for an exchange!). I had the receipts and the tag was still on the shirt. They were still carrying the shirt so there was no reason why they couldn't take it back and re-sell it. They said that they had a 10-day return policy...even for a gift that I had just received the day before! The 13-year old girls working in the store called the manager to "ask permission" to exchange it but that request was apparently denied. I've worked in retail for 10 years and never heard of such a ridiculous policy. Everything in the store is over-priced. They have teenagers selling $300 t-shirts and they clearly aren't concerned with building any sort of loyal clientele. I would stay away from this store. more
