Prime 121

I love this restaurant! The food is incredible and the ambiance is great. I've dined here 3 times and each time I felt relaxed and welcome. The service was attentive but not overly so. Did I spend too much money? I was prepared to splurge and I only wish I could go back more often. I found the staff warm and pleasant, my steak was perfect and I'm crazy about creamed spinach... I dined at Prime 121 this week under the recommendation of a friend and I must say I had a wonderful time. As I arrived, it was about what one would expect when visiting an upscale steakhouse in Cherry Creek. Valet Parking for those who would rather not deal with the headache that is parking in Cherry Creek. White table clothes, fresh flowers on the tables, servers wearing pressed white coats. However, our experience was much more than ordinary. First off the music playing was upbeat, contemporary top 40 rather than the typical monotonous formal dinner music found at most of these types of establishments. The service was perfect and the staff seemed to know exactly what we needed before we did (Mojito's here are excellent and the wine list is A+). And the food, top notch!!! Steaks cooked to perfection. We had appetizers, salads and entrees, and despite being a party of 7 on what seemed to be a relatively busy evening, the dinner flowed perfectly. I've seen some negative comments about this restaurant, but I have to say Prime 121 was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Perhaps worth a second look. Pros: Upbeat atmosphere, friendly staff, wonderful food. Save room for dessert. Cons: Wine list is a bit large, but a lot of good values if you know your wine. more

I went here for 5280 week and was so disappointed. We had 6 people in the group and 3 of the steaks came out cooked completely wrong! This is a steak place! You should know how to cook them. The sides were very average and the service was awful. I love dining out a nice steak places and will never be back to this one. They just filed bancrupcy and it's no wonder. A nice steak place in Cherry Creek should be great, not okay. Go across the street to Elways! Amazing!!! more

My partner and I dined at Prime 121 hoping to give a fledgling restaurant another chance. We had dined earlier on in their exisitence and had a horrible experience, to the point where the manager screamed at one of his servers in plain earshot of all of the patrons. We found that little has changed at Prime 121, if anything the quality has declined. Our previous experience although marked by discomfort, was tolerable due to a delicious steak. Our recent visit was one of discomfort and terrible food. The steak was like rubber and the scallops tasted of something Burger King would offer, but at $30+. What I presumed as management was empty and contrived, essentially they looked miserable and acted rude. The only bright spot was a server with longer hair, whose name escapes me, he was knowledgeable and pleasant and helped us with a wine selection and also chilled the red we selected due to it being too hot. He alleved our novice with a candor and grace that put us at ease. The server, however, could not save the experience as the dining experience, we view, was a waste of time and money...we will not return! This past weekend, my husband and I dined at Prime 121. We first stopped at the bar and had a two martinis, which the blonde bartender recommended. She was so friendly! We then went to our table and ordered salads (which were average) and I had surf and turf and my husband had a NY Strip. Both were above average. Our server wast extremely professional and courteous even though he was busy with about three tables. He gave great suggestions on wine, and was easy to talk to. Only drawback was the huffiness of the matre'd. He seemed really flustered for no reason. All in all, I would recommend this steakhouse. Pros: waitstaff more

I have dined at Prime 121 several times. We continue to go back because the food is exquisite. However the service is less than average. The hostess is delightfully adorable and will make sure you have a table you are happy with. I would recommend sitting at the bar, because I have nothing awful to say about any of the bartenders. My favorite is Courtney, she also will make sure you are happy with your experience. I have however had several negative encounters with the servers. If you are going for the first time make sure that you do not dine with 3 servers; Sean, Matt and Greg. All of our ecounters with these servers have been flat out awful. Combined together they are rude, carry a cloud of cigarette smoke and have made errors on our orders several times. I would recommend asking for Peter or Eric. My only other complaint would be the owner. I would describe him as tactless, un-approachable and disrespectful. My work regularly means entertaining elite clients in the midst of extended periods of travel for both business and recreation. Anytime that travel includes a stop in Denver I'm sure to book the night at the JW Marriott in Cherry Creek with dinner at Prime 121 across the street. Most of the time I have to have to select different dining locations for my diverse constituent base, but I have yet to find a demographic disappointed by Prime 121. Its polished yet unpretentious ambiance and careful, complimentary service consistently leave my guests raving about the total experience - top-notch food, a wide variety of wine - most importantly a fun and relaxing evening. I love steak and have regularly made the circuit of Denver Steak houses (except for the dreadful Sullivan's). I am pleased to add Prime 121 to the loop. My wife and I went on a Saturday for a night out and had an exceptional dinner. The food was excellent and prepared to my liking. The portions were reasonable and the sides were generous. The restaurant was lively and busy, but it wasn't so loud it was hard to make conversation. The service was a little on the slow side, but it is also nice to know that I am not being rushed out the door. Dessert was delicious AND the valet parking is complimentary. We had a lovely meal. I won't say I wasn't skeptical going into this dining experience. I had read the reviews on this site and my wife had purchased dining cards at Costco that offered a pretty hefty discount. I think 20%. The dinner was a thank you to three staff members and spouses and we were really wanting to go all out. I was invited to Prime about a year ago when they first opened and had a terrible experience. It was so bad I actually remember my waiter's name, Nate. He was so rude we felt uncomfortable every time we asked for something, which was a lot because are drinks came out wrong and they weren't very good, we never got water refills, we were missing sides and utensils and the staff were all huddled in the back standing around. The food was disappointing the desert tray (we had to ask for because Nate gave us our bill without asking if we wanted coffee or dessert) looked disgusting. It was old and dry. At the end of all that we were given a bill upwards of $400. I felt very violated. I went home and wrote up a terrible review at the time, but decided not to send it. We took clients on a Friday night and enjoyed the warm ambiance. No snooty wait staff?.just quiet efficient service from our WAITER. If you want an expensive bottle of wine rammed down your throat go someplace else. Prime 121 seems to have more pure motivations. For example they want you to enjoy the wine, food and return. more

I will have to say...when we came in we were noticed. However, the owner and I didn't seem to get on the right note..he past our table and said ""oooh don't you just want to have sit there and watch it?' WHAT WAS THAT? I don't understand...it really made know since to me at all. I don't know if it came out wrong...or that he just didn't know what to say to us. BUT LISTEN HERE...ask for PETER! He is the best server there. He knows what you need before you can even think about it...VERY PROFESSIONAL!!! Enjoy the food because their chef Brant slaves over the grill for you. We ate here on New Years eve. They were obviously not prepared for the amount of traffic. For starters, we were ignored at the host stand while some one sat there and answered phone call after phone call without so much as a glance in our direction. Once we were greeted it was another 10mins before they sat us (we had reservations). Once seated it took 20 mins for our server to come over. We put in our order right away and it took 1.5 hrs to get our food!! Our server was very nice and was obviously embarrased by the kitchen's performance. However, management never visited our table to apologise. In general the impression was that the service is very unprofessional. The food was good, the bree and champaign soup was wonderful. We both had surf and turf for dinner and while the food was good, our steaks were not cooked as ordered. At that point, there was no way we were going to wait while we sent it back to the kitchen! My friends and I are so glad that Prime 121 opened in Cherry Creek. We like to meet there for Happy Hour and have the ""Sliders"". We've had dinner there twice and both times the food and service were exceptional. The steak I had was to die for. My girlfriends shared a lobster and could not stop raving about it. All six in our party on a Sunday night rated this restarurant a bust and will not go back. Sub-par service - while the server was pleasant, she was decidedly unprofessional and started clearing settings while others in our party were still eating. She then asked if we wanted to see the dessert tray before we'd even finished our entree(s). We were missing utensils for almost every course of the meal, and had to continually ask for them. For a cheap steak place, that type of service might be acceptable, but for a high-end steakhouse, definitely not so. Plus, the steaks weren't great, and the side dishes were just okay.
