Old-time dive bar with great tunes. Bravo!

Worst

Yes, it's wicked cheap. $3 mexican nights, and french fry baskets the size of your ever growing beer belly, but that's where they get you! You go in for dinner and pay way too m...

burger and beer 5/23/2012

Old-time dive bar with great tunes. Bravo! more

It's burger time 5/21/2012

This was my hangout when I was living in Boston a few years ago. This place has multiple specials a week on different nights, like half price burgers, mexican, etc. The Texas Burger is one of the best deals, but is almost gluttonous. 3 patties, chips, and fries will make you feel like you dumped bricks in your stomach. The meals are all well priced, and the Fraps are AMAZING (awesome shakes). The atmosphere is pretty neat, right on Bolyston, but gets crazy busy on Fridays and Saturdays. Good food for a modest budget. Definitely check them out. more

great service, very good food, inexpensive beer 10/1/2008

Our service was incredibly friendly and prompt. Being visitors, our waitress even gave us some ideas of places for us to check out while visiting Boston. My boyfriend enjoyed his food, and my chili was awesome (I highly recommend!). Pros: service, awesome chili, inexpensive beer more

great wings platter 4/12/2008

lots (LOTS!) of wings for a very cheap price! or you can try 4 kinds on one platter--even that wasn't expensive either. i forgot how much though... too much beer i guess.\r :) \r Pros: cheap food Cons: bit run-down; seat yourself more

GOOD EATS - CHEAP BEER 2/6/2008

Great happy hour pit stop, every day of the week they have dinner/drink specials...very casual atmosphere. Staff is friendly. Later in the night it does turn into a younger (college) scene...but if you get there after work it is mostly professionals grabbing a beer and a bite to eat. If you are on Boylston, stop by! Pros: Cheap, Casual, Fun Cons: college crowd, can TOO busy late night more

Bad Business Practice 11/5/2007

I experienced the Pour House for the first and last time this past weekend. Business ethics are not a high priority for this establishment. I was sharing a table with 8 friends and excused myself twice from the table in order to use the restroom. Both times when I returned back to my seat my full drink had been removed. When I asked the server if she had cleared my full beverage that I was not finished with she simply replied ?If there is a problem you can go speak with the Manager.? When contacting the manager he informed me that another restaurant patron must have stolen my beverage from the table on both occasions. From a business perspective this is a brilliant move, hopefully the guest does not notice their drinks are being removed and they will continue purchasing $10 beverages for the rest of the evening; from a service/ethics perspective ?Pour Showing.? Pros: There are none Cons: Service was terrible more

Cheap College Hang Out 4/25/2007

This restaurant attracts the college crowd. It is very cheap but the food is not bad all things considering. They have specials every day of the week. Thursdays are half price Mexican. Very loud and the wait staff doesn't really check to see how your doing or if you need anything. It is located in a good area of Boston. Pros: Cheap menu for college students Cons: very loud and crowded, have to get there early for a table more

more than pretty faces 9/4/2006

I love this place. Have for years. Not only is it a busy place to meet but the food is pretty darn good. the Pour House burgers are great to soak up some of your evening. A pleasant suprise is the nice breakfast menu they offer esp on the weekends. Get there early to get a table or sit at the bar. Downstairs is usually open but a little dark for breakfast. The staff is fun, friendly and very helpful. All of this and kinda cheap too!! Pros: great locale, super friendly staff Cons: Madhouse at times. very young sometimes also more

you dont know what you are talking about 4/10/2006

This place is busy and the staff knows it. If you want attention, go somewhere else. They get you what you need, when you need it, and they don't bug you. The staff isn't rude they are probably just sick of putting up with you. I think the pour house is great. Pros: music, price, atmosphere Cons: crowded more

Somewhere in the middle 11/21/2005

I must say that the reviews of this place were apparently written by the owner, and the owner's ex-wife alternatively. The reality is somewhere in the middle. First, the beers are big and that's a good thing. The TVs are plentiful, but like the bar they are placed oddly. The layout of the bar is like a railroad apartment, but I suppose if I was 21 again, I wouldn't care what shape the bar was. Decent food, cheap beer and a chintzy interior. So...a great place to duck into and watch the game on a cold weekend day more

friendly tavern with homey food! 10/27/2005

Have you been to The Pour House for Lunch? Their new winter specials are great, homemade and cheaper than the food court in the Prudential! The beef stew a la mode (topped with mashed potatoes) is one of the best lunches I have had since transferring to the Back Bay. I've also tried the Sloppy Joes with macaroni and cheese and the chicken and spinach melt. I love the way the bartenders and servers treat their repeat customers. Even though I'm female, I always feel comfortable eating lunch at the bar by myself. Its a great people watching crowd, very ecletic mix of tradesmen, college students and professionals. A must try for lunch!! Pros: price, service, homemade food Cons: loud, parking, busy more

The best of Boylston!! 9/15/2005

If you're looking for a value--look no further! The menu, portions and beers are huge!!! The value is incredible and there is always something fun going on!! I went there last Sunday for one of the best breakfasts ever, and could still watch football!! I was pleasantly surprised to find they just introduced the NFL Ticket. It can be a struggle to find a seat since there is no hostess, and parking space rules apply to finding a table, but for the service, price and value, there is no better place in Boston!! A must visit when on Boylston!! Pros: breakfast M-S, 22oz drafts, price Cons: packed, noisy, rushed more

service is AWFUL 8/19/2005

the pour house was my favorite bar in the back bay for two reasons: its cheap and the food is good. so, my boyfriend and i (who were frequent customers) made the decision to put up with the rude, awful service. however, a recent experience there has drawn the line and we will never go back. the bartenders were incredibly rude to us and handled a situation which could have been diffused by politeness very poorly. horrible customer service. we have been overcharged, ignored by waitstaff, gotten the wrong orders, etc. having gone there about once a week for nearly a year, my boyfriend and i can think of only TWO waitresses in that entire time who were competent and friendly. despite the very good and cheap food, it's not worth it to be treated rudely. we will be taking our business elsewhere. Pros: cheap Cons: HORRIBLE service more

Two words: Burger Mania! 5/30/2005

Good food cheap! Especially on Saturday evenings when ""Burger Mania"" happens (half price burgers!) Despite what some others have said, the burgers are decent (not incredible, but not awful either), and well worth the price. Good beer selection helps wash those burgers down. If you can't find a table upstairs, try downstairs. Sure it's hot and sweaty and a bit funky, but if that bugs you, go have a freakin' cup of tea at the Four Seasons! It's kind of loud at times, but not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation. Pros: Burgers, Beer, Burgers Cons: Noisy more

It Stinks 5/5/2005

Incredibly rude service. Food that makes high school cafeterias seem like gourmet cuisine. From a native Bostonian: PASS THIS ONE BY! Pros: Cheap Cons: Rude Staff, Poor Quality Food more

the good and the bad 2/5/2004

If your date for this weekend tells you he is taking you to the Pour House please make sure you wear your most comfy shoes. You have to seat yourself and on a friday or saturday night this can be a task. We ended up separating..one up stairs and one down to wait for a table to free up. They definitely have alot on the menu. I am a very picky eater and still had a hard time deciding. Then again it is your regular pub food but at just about the best price you will find in Boston. Great place for the struggling student. And if your date doesn't work out there seemed to be plenty of singles looking to mingle. Pros: Price, Variety of Food, Service Cons: , Type of food more

Awful Burgers; Rude Waitstaff 8/1/2003

Burgers are just plain bad. Sure, they're cheap. They're still overpriced. Their staff is among the rudest and most incompetent in the entire city. You want cheap burger and fries? Go to McDonalds. The food is better there and the help at McDonalds is much more friendly than that at The Pour House. Pros: Cheap Cons: Rude Staff, Incompetent Staff, Poor Food Quality more

Best Burgers Ever! 1/10/2003

Pour House is the best place in Boston. Not only is the food great, but it is wicked cheap (ah, to use that strange New England word). Also, the menu is quite extensive, bad for the indecisve, good for everyone else! I highly recommend the brunch! Pros: Cheap, Yummy Cons: Crowded more

Dive Alive! 1/7/2003

Get in where you fit in! And we all can fit in where you get a pint glass of Jack and Coke for a shade over 4 bucks, wearing noting but an old college crewneck and a pair of jeans if not pajama bottoms. Approachable females, oxymoron sure, but what about this place isn't (see Dives in the Back Bay). The bar staff actually encourages you to get drunk. The wiatress even shed a tear when I declined her advances towards me...okay I said I would have a water in lieu of my ninth J&C. Food: Never had anything but a burger here. So try a Hawaiian Burger otherwise, eat elsewhere if you can. Drinks: 4.25 Jack and Coke 'nuff said playah. Atmosphere: Collegiate Comfy and you can flirt with the Waitresses. Pros: Cheap, Casual, Did I say Cheap Cons: Sub-par Food, LOUD more

worst burger ever... 12/23/2002

Their burgers are terrible. Granted, they are only $4 or $5, but they are HORRIBLE!! Their burgers are frozen and have no taste. I've had better burgers on a Foreman Grill. I wondered how the burgers could be so cheap, and it is because they taste terrible. The fries were okay, but definetly nothing worth going out for. My ONE beer cost me more than my burger. The service was decent. Pros: free napkins, no frills Cons: frozen burgers, tasteless fries, expensive beers more
