Portland Disposal and Recycling

They do not pick up my motor oil. Per Metro Recycling and the City of Portland Solid Waste people: ""Motor Oil - in a see-through, unbreakable container, one gallon milk jug preferred, with a screw top lid. Place next to your recycling bins. Limited to a maximum of three one-gallon containers per collection day.""\r \r 1) In person, the driver told me I am limited to only ONE GALLON per collection. This is false.\r 2) On a note left by the driver, he stated that it had to be in one gallon milk containers only. This is false.\r 3) On the telephone, the female person told me that they will only pick up ONE CONTAINER per day. This is false.\r \r Read the rules, Portland Disposal and Recycling. more

Definitely put your complaints regarding Portland Disposal & Recycling's service into the city (wasteinfo@portlandoregon.gov and/or 503-823-7202).\r \r I can only reference the last 11 years of service at the same address with 100% consistency of putting my garbage out the night before.\r \r PDX Disposal/Recycling is generally indignant that one of their drivers could have missed a pickup. They average a miss of my home of once every other month. They typically send a driver, threaten to charge, but never without just simply saying sorry.\r \r If you're going to send the driver anyway, then just say ""sorry."" And leave it at that - you're not winning any points by arguing or being condescending.\r \r Too bad we don't have a choice. more

If we had a choice of trash haulers, I would have discontinued service as soon as these guys took over for Alberta Sanitary. The franchise system in Portland gives the consumer no choice and allows these a$$holes to be rude, irresponsible and down right mean. I hate these people and am considering driving my own trash Metro. What a terrible company. I only gave them one star because I had to select at least one. more

We've had this service for years and I can't recall ever having a problem. Missed service a couple of times when the streets got really nasty, but as I recall we got credited. What I would REALLYlike to bitch about is this asnine kitchen waste program that complete flake of a mayor has shoved down our throats (boy do I reget voting for him). I'd like to put that cheap worthless imported plastic joke of a pail where the sun don't shine. Where can you go to complain where it MITE make a difference? I know I'll do my best to vote the whole city council out of office. I want my regular service back, not half the pick up for the same cost. more

This garbage hauler does not respond to customer complaints! Don't just post here, contact the City of Portland as well: wasteinfo@portlandoregon.gov and/or 503-823-7202. I'm disabled, and I asked for them to honor my Doctor's note, and get my garbage, recycling & yard debris roll carts from next to my house. They refused. They told me to ask a neighbor, and told me how to heal from my disability, so I could do it myself. I just gave the city a list of 12 problems I've had with Portland Disposal & Recycling. They said they can only act if they have specific dates, and are contacted as soon as possible after each problem occurred. We will be stuck with crappy service from this joke of a company, unless we hold them accountable, by going to the city when they operate before 6 a.m., when they leave roll carts in the street, when they won't pick up garbage unless the cart is left in the street, when they block traffic just because they can. more

I've been putting out the blue bin correctly filled with recycling-cardboard, papers, exactly as instructed. They never empty it! I've called about three times, it's always the same lady, like a mom and pop type place. She says she'll let them know to empty it next tuesday or leave me a note as to WHY they are not. Here it is tuesday, not emptied, no note. We pay the fee for it, I believe. What the hell??? I'd leave them negative stars if I could more

one of the drivers put a little garbage on top of my yard debris in my yard debris can so he could leave me a tag then the company would expect me to call in so they could charge me an extra $7.00 to come back out. i video taped this and plan to put it on you tube in the next few days. more

The company needs to fire their reps or Portland needs to rethink the neighborhood monopoly system the garbage companies have going on. I set out properly prepared motor oil to be recycled for several weeks. Never picked up, no notes as to why. Called, heard driver swearing in the background. Next day they picked it up and then they called me. YELLING, swearing and berating me for leaving them with something that they claim they couldn't dispose of. It was motor oil. Old motor oil that had separated (yes, that DOES happen -- additives, sludge, etc). But it is still oil to be recycled. Zero stars. more

I am so frustrated by the fact that I am forced to use this company, since no alternative provider is available in my neighborhood. After emptying my cans, my driver constantly puts my cans in the MIDDLE of the sidewalk, impeding pedestrian traffic, and has even placed them directly behind my car, causing me to run into them. Most recently, my driver forgot my pick-up entirely. To get my can picked up, I had to waste my time on hold with Portland Disposal, then, after they sent the driver back to pick up the forgotten can, I ended up receiving a CHARGE on my bill for a ""return pick-up."" When I called to have the charge removed from my bill, I was told that ""JUST THIS ONE TIME,"" THEY WOULD MAKE AN EXCEPTION AND REMOVE THE CHARGE FOR THE CAN THAT *THEY* HAD FORGOTTEN TO PICK UP. Absolutely appauling. I would give this company ZERO STARS if I could. more

While I have had no interaction with the staff that picks up, the customer service staff is unbelievable. Their billing process doesn't appear to have changed since 1970. They like checks, but have lost 2, forced me to provide proof of payment, only to ""find"" the checks and double bill me. I relocated temporarily and wanted them to forward my bill and the service person became what sounded almost hysterical and asked me repeatedly if I was sure I am going to continue to pay them! I have not missed a payment in 5 yrs (the ones they ""lost"" were never late fyi - I noticed the check had not cleared and inquired). I call in today and pay via CC, each and every time I am greeted by a snarling rep, oh, and forget your account number and request they look you up by address? Apparently that is incredibly difficult, and believe me, they will let you know. LOL. Pros: ???? Can't think of one. Cons: Customer service people more

Portland Disposal and Recycling is on a consistent run of not picking up my garbage and yard debris. A phone call to them results in nothing but excuses and requests that I leave it out for them to ""pick up later."" I would switch companies if I could, but I continue to have my rates go up and service go down. Do not use this company if you can avoid it. more

I have never had worst service and I am forced to keep them since you can't choose your garbage service in Portland. The drivers are lazy and they drop trash and don't pick it up, they leave the cans in the road, they leave nasty notes if they think the garbage isn't put out right. more
