I'm a french food FOODIE, but I'm not into OVERLY FINE dining, where everything is so small and overpriced. That's what's so great about the pit stop. Nice delicious portions that won't break the bank. This is a place I can take the wife AND KIDS. I recommend the goat cheese salad, mussels, and the grilled hanger steak. REALLY GOOD!! We used t go to pit stop every week but after our last visit we won't be back and we will not tell friends t try it. We stopped in on a Saturday around 9, we were seated by the owner so we assumed kitchen was open and we were good to go. New guy took order, no water no silverware when apps arrived. Food comes out and you can hear kitchen pans clanging they must be cleaning. Still 3 tables in the place. My burger is raw, I asked for medium-well, my friend ordered mussels and only 6 were open. He is trying to figure them out I send burger back it comes back rubber from the micro. Waiter says cant fix mussels we say their not cooked he says im new brings us beer we werent drinking and didnt want tells us he cant take mussels off bill or have them cooked so we can eat them kitchen is closed and that he did bring us a round so...what terrible customer service everyone knows uncooked food is a no no. never going back. if you want raw mussels go. Pros: the place is clean Cons: the food is uncooked and no one knows how to fix it because he cook speaks spanish more

Yes, it is in fact the best burger. And the Stella is Stella. And the servers are actually quite friendly when you get to know them. So stay in Manhattan and Williamsburg if you want to eat overpriced, mediocre garbage. Oh, and Schnack? Please! Their hamburgers are made from whatever they happen to find on their filthy floor. Pit Stop's garden is lovely, but I do have to say that the kids in the summertime are quite annoying. You can almost forgive the whining rugrats when you taste the food though. I've never had a disappointing meal there. It can be a little pricey, but I think it's always worth it. Pros: Friendly service, amazing food. Cons: KIDS!!!!! more

"Best Burger" is an extraordinary overstatement. The service is distracted and chatty, and the Stella was clearly Bud Light. The French Onion Soup was served like prison rations, and the burgers were just boring. If you desire a real burger in the immediate area, try Schnack (cheap) or Good Fork (not as cheap). If you desire a burger in Brooklyn, go to Teddy's in Williamsburg. If you want the best burger in New York, go to Walker's, near Walker Street in TriBeCa. Best Hamburgers I've ever had in NY. Great outdoor space out the back of the restaurant so you don't have pedestrians staring at you while you eat ! Pros: Food Delicious, Outdoor Space Cons: Kids playing area - some kids are badly behaved and disturb everyone more
