Pik A Pup Kennel in holliston, MA On August 3,2009, we revisited , Pick-a-Pup after seventeen years! For all those years, we have enjoyed and loved our Toodles"the Poodle" and Max,our Bichon/Poodle...what joy they gave us! Dieing within a few weeks of each other(WOW! 17 years in dog years made them how old?) we were totally devastated and depressed...to honor them, we thought, why wait to get another puppy? The house seemed so empty and too quiet! A call to Pick-a-Pup had Leah describing a 5 1/2 month old female Bichon...a few days later, another call and this time , Tina described this little sweetie...off we went after conversing with you, Barry, about the "details"of shots, contract issues, etc.Tina's "Sweetie" has become OUR sweetheart...born on Valentine's Day,she has been christened "Ma Cherie"...It is important for you to know (and new dog owners) that after getting a thorough checkup at our vet, the doctor noted how relaxed and calm Cherie was...so noted due to the loving care she received from you and your staff! Given a complete bill of health with all shots/worming,etc in perfect order...it was off to the groomers(Pampered Pet-Home of Champions-in Paxton,Massachusetts)...again a very calm and sweet-tempered young lady...MORE praises for Pick-a-Pup! Thank you and congratulations for offering "First Class" Puppies..it is obvious you take pride in and love you animals! Without question, we recommend Pick-a-Pup...more than patient with our questions...clean...professional...It should also be noted that we researched many other puppy places but were always drawn back to Pick-a-Pup!!! I Am the person who bought the puppy stated below and.. I just want to say we did not pay any higher for the puppy, We paid the same asking price as you were quoted. Don't be mad just beacuse you missed out on a great puppy..and now trying to make them sound bad.. The kennel is great the staff is great and the prices are good.. In response to the auctioning off of dogs review below, my friend recently experienced the same sort of thing. I went with her and her husband to look at the puppies a few weeks ago and played with a little beagle in particular. They went home to think about it and when they went back the next day they were told at the door that the dog they were interested in was on hold for someone paying more money, Her husband was annoyed that they would even pull a stunt like that and told them to sell the dog, they were no longer interested. I recently went back with my daughter just to look at the dogs. I could not believe that the tiny little beagle was still there! It was the exact same dog because it had the same large marking on its chest! It wasn't until I read these reviews that I realized there had probably been no other person that was going to buy the dog, they must have just wanted to get more money! Unbelieveable what some people will do for a cent! more

As we walked out through the office, we knoticed that the papers had already been drawn up and signed.(So while we were with the dog for half an hour, the dog was already being sold). As we got into our car, the couple was handed the dog in a carrier and walked out. I was curious to know the real story so I waited to talk to them. So if you're buying a dog there, send different people at different times, and make sure you are really paying the lowest price and not getting screwed into thinking someone else is offering more for it b/c they completely make that part up. The puppies at Pik A Pup come from puppymills. Most of their "breeders" breed hundreds of dogs and don't care what the health of the parents are. I had a friend that worked there and she told me all of the horror stories. A family had to put a 3month old puppy to sleep because of behavioral problems, another person bought a puppy that died because of being shipped too small and wasn't eating. Another puppy died before it's 1str birthday because of liver problems. They had puppies that were deaf , blind and lame and the breeders shipped them anyway. The puppies came in dirty, sick and scared. She told me how they lied to people about them not coming from puppymills. Lied about them knowing about the parents history, they just make it up. No show dog was ever a parent to these puppies. The parents of these puppies have a sad existense and everyone that buys from here seals their fate..and many more! Don't take anyone's word, do research. Think about what you are doing to help these horrible places stay in business. Think how you could buy one of these puppies and inherit all of the health problems so many others have. Buy from a responsible breeder that cares about the breed and knows the puppies history. Or adopt from a shelter. Half of the people that buy from Pik A Pup surrender their dogs because they don't think before they buy. I bought a dog from there 7 years ago. She has never been sick beside a simple UTI when she was 4 years old. When she was 5 1/2 she bumped her hip on the coffee table. Not sure if that is when her problem started or not but when she plays hard she limps. She has been checked by t he vet and they said very mild hip problems which they said all hip problems are a form of Hip Displacia. Now I was told she came from 5 generations of show dogs with no hip displacia. I'm not mad at them and I wouldn't give Pik a Pup a bad review. If I hadn't mentioned that she was having trouble with her hip and they x-rayed it they said they wouldn't of thought anything was wrong as it is so subtle. She was never sick but for those of you who say your dog has kennel cough it is common no matter where you get your dog. If you put your dog in a shelter when you are on vacation it can get kennel cough. Yes my dog was shipped from Ohio as I saw on the papers when I bought her. However she is a great dog. I couldn't ask for a better dog. She was well worth the money and yes I do believe in adopting from a shelter but this dog also needed a home. Pros: Clean and caring more

I can tell you that the employes always cared for those animals and if one was sick it was keep seperate from all other dogs in a room with the door shut and it was cared for like all the other dogs. Hands were washed upon entering the room with the sick dog and upon leaving that room. All the dogs bedding were washed daily and changed more often if need be and there holding area was scrubbed down daily and all fresh bedding put down. They took the pups back if they were sick and nursed them back to health and if you wanted another puppy you could get one. It was up to you but yes as with any place they use their own vet. If you choose to take it to another vet then you pay the bill. That goes for any place. I love my dog and would buy again from PIK A PUP. I'd even work there again if it is under new management. I, out of curiosity checked to see if they were eeven still in business. At the time of my new additions I too found the staff to be less than informative. I also had trouble with one pup upon arriving home and simply called to inquire as to what may or may not be going on; I was appauld at their response. They would only make clear to me that this was a FINAL PURCHASE, that they did nothing to make the pup sick. They had no regard for this poor dogs well being or what symptoms they may even recognize in order to assist me or even comfort me. All they wanted me to know is that THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY.
