We saw a cute puppy here and asked what gender it was. The man told us it was a male, but we realized after holding it that it was a female. He didn't really know much about the dog and had no idea what state it came from. Once we decided to buy it anyways for the price of $799, we were told that the dog was already sold to people waiting outside that had offered $899 ($100 over the asking price). As we walked out through the office, we knoticed that the papers had already been drawn up and signed.(So while we were with the dog for half an hour, the dog was already being sold). As we got into our car, the couple was handed the dog in a carrier and walked out. I was curious to know the real story so I waited to talk to them.
Apparently they had seen the dog the day before, and were thinking it over, when they got a call that someone else (meaning us) was looking at the dog and offered more money (at this point we had offered nothing). So they hurried over to sign the papers. The woman was horrified when I told her that he told us the price was $799 and thats what we were going to pay. The day before she had been told that the price was $899. I guess the guy had told each of us that the other offered more money, when that was not the case on either end.
I'm glad that the dog ended up going to a good home, but I was very unhappy about the way they do business. So if you're buying a dog there, send different people at different times, and make sure you are really paying the lowest price and not getting screwed into thinking someone else is offering more for it b/c they completely make that part up. Shouldn't this be illegal?
