Best Colorist on Earth!!! 8/14/2010

Sandy Taylor Furst has been doing my color for about 15 years. Whenever she has changed salons so have I. I get so excited when I treat myself to a visit with Sandy at Phoenix Salon. She is an expert at her profession. She recently gave me a Brazilian Blowout and my hair always looks soft and healthy even after continuous years of bleach and color. I dread the day Sandy stops doing hair. more

STAY AWAY 6/11/2010

Do not have your hair colored here. Sandy the colorist will fry the living daylights out of your hair. She forgets to check the color/bleach and leaves it too long while she babbles to everyone about her poor life. She will tell you your hair is ugly and needs highlights or color and then damage the heck out of it so it really is! Cons: damaged frazzled fried hair more

I DONT RECOMMEND!!! 4/6/2009

The salon looked good. As I walked into the door the reception didn't greet me. It was my first time there and finally the receptionist with the black bob hair, kinda heavy set, went up to me and asked what I was doing and accused me in being a solitcitor. I was offended as well as she kicking me out of the salon, and I felt that this receptionist was very rude and had an very unacceptable behavior. I have never been treated like that before and this was a disgrace to the salon and the salon name. This salon have been rated a 4 star which my horrible experience that I had I have to say I give them zero stars. They don't even deserve one star. That is how bad the first impression was. I highly don't reccomend this salon to anyone. This salon was a terrifying first time experience. Remember looks can be deceiving. Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

First impression...not so good 10/6/2008

I was referred by my sister . She had gotten an amazing haircut and i wanted to go there. So I set up an appointment and the day before got a call at 12:30 to confirm my appointment. Then at 5:30 i got another call saying my appointment had been canceled and to please call to reschedule. So i did...i rescheduled for 2:00 the next day. I got there at 1:30 and waited for an HOUR. At 2:30 I asked if i was going to be seen and they apologized a million times for scheduling me wrong. I was pissedoff and annoyed and walked out. They made no attempt to compensate for all the cancellations and re-schedules. Instead they wanted to reschedule me for the next weekend same time. Not a very good first impression. more

Waxing Pro 9/4/2008

I agree! Susan is the only person I will go to for waxing. She has an incredible memory and is so personable. An incredible people person. If you know your way around walnut creek there is parking in the back along the alley for pheonix customers only! more

Best salon in the bay!! 5/25/2008

I have been going to phoenix salon since it opened, and I have never had a single bad experience. In fact I have always found the staff to be friendly and professional. The atmosphere is beautiful, the products are great and the stylists are the best around. I see Julie Brun for my haircuts, and she is the best stylist I have ever been to. She is wonderful, friendly, highly trained and personable. In fact she just recently cut my hair and I have never received so many compliments! I am also thrilled with susan who does my waxes, and see tracy if you want to have a mindblowing massage. I could go on and on. I currently live in LA where there are plenty of top notch salons, but I still fly up to the east bay each time I need to get my haircuts! The other reviewers that had bad experiences are crazy, these stylist are professional all the way, no amatuers here! Pros: EVERYTHING Cons: NONE (everyone says parking, but there is a parking lot in the back! ) more

Great salon. 4/3/2008

Elizabeth is great. I've seen her for the past year. She knows her color and what would go good with particular skin type. The assistant is friendly as well. I've also got haircuts from 3 different people and all were great. I've been to my share of salons and this one is one of the best. Pros: Great staff who know what they're doing more

Best Wax 3/18/2008

I see Susan for my waxings and she is great. She made me feel very comfortable right away. She is a great conversationalist and a good listener as well. She's very understanding about kids, being a parent of two boys herself. I wouldn't go anywhere else for a wax. Cons: Parking more

For how snooty they are here you should be getting a far superior result! 3/7/2008

I wouldn't go back to this place if they paid me! I had my color done. Simple. Chocolate brown all over. While I figured it wouldn't take that much time for a consultation I figured I would be getting a little more attention then just sticking me at a chair to wait forever while the colorist dealt with someone else. Then when she finally got to me she spent only about a minute talking to me and then rushed off to mix the color. And while I realize that I can go get my own water, if you've asked everyone else around me if they'd like some, it would be polite to ask me as well don't ya think? Well, overall the assistant was VERY nice. I spent more time with her than the colorist- who silently colored my hair and then sent me off to the dryer. Pros: Looks pretty but then again I'm not going here to look at the scenery am I? Cons: Rude staff, below average color services, long waits. more

Paula is the best at color. 1/10/2008

Paula Digges, has been my colorist for years, and she is so awesome. She has a way of seeing exactly what you are looking for, and you always look fabulous when you leave the salon. I love her. She really has a gift. Pros: Great skill, good conversation, great atmosphere. Cons: The salon manager is kind of a shrew. more

The Most Disorganized Spa On The Planet 11/21/2006

I can't attest to the quality of hair cuts but I can tell you this is the most disorganized spa I have ever tried to go to. After waiting on hold for about 10 minutes I made an appt. here. Right after I got off the phone I realized I had a prior commitment so I called and cancelled the appointment. Then about a couple days before my cancelled appt I got a phone call confirming my appt. I called them back and told them I had cancelled the appt about a month before. Later that day I got a THIRD phone call confirming my cancelled appt. I then called back to re-cancel my appt for a third time. Then, several days after the cancelled appt I got an irate phone message from the stylist asking why I had missed my appt. I'm sorry they might have wonderful stylists who work here but for me the utter disorganization is not worth it. more

BEST PLACE AROUND! 7/25/2006

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this salon. After having a horrible experience at Changes Salon in Spa in Walnut Creek, I decided to take a chance with Phoenix. Lindsey was able to fix my color exactly how I wanted and she did it with confidence and ease. It seems like everyone here is highly trained and knows what they are doing. I am also very particular about my hair cut, so I was nervous to have a new person cut it. Niesa did an outstanding job and listened to exactly what I wanted. Normally I dred going into the salon because I am worried that they will not do what I say, but you do not have to worry about that at Phoenix. Their prices are reasonable to everywhere else around as well ($60 for a cut, $120 for color/highlights). I would definitely recommend them! Pros: Great listeners, know what they are doing, nice atmosphere Cons: not a lot of parking more

Best Hair Cut in East Bay 7/24/2006

I live between New York City and Danville, CA. I have spent over $500 at hip New York Salons. My best haircut ever is from Julie Brun at Phoenix. She is so pleasant and takes her time to always give you the perfect haircut. She also shows you how to style your hair at home. Phoenix has fabulous products such as Burn candles, Kerastase hair care and Eminence organic skin care. Ask for Cynthia. She know the best treatments for your hair and skin types. This is a 10plus salon! Pros: Great neighborhood shopping. Cons: Parking is sometimes difficult. They will gladly feed the meter for you if the parking lot is full. more

BEST COLOR EVER! 7/7/2006

I was getting sick of going to the ""city"" to get good creative haircolor. A friend recommended Paula at Phoenix. I gave it a shot and my expectations were exceeded! She was friendly outgoing but most important offered several ideas and she did as good, if not better as my visits to the city. The salon is large and open with helpful staff, with salons like this, Walnut Creek IS the city. Pros: Hours, location, ambience Cons: give yourself a few extra minutes to find parking or walk from garage more

Phoenix Salon 12/3/2005

I've been going to Phoenix for awhile now, and I always love my results. My colorist, Paula Digges, always does an amazing job with my color. Its easy to get to and the staff is very helpful. The inside decor is beautiful and makes you feel like a princess. Pros: beautiful salon, very organized, nice staff more

This place is not worth the time 11/12/2005

Im sorry but i had someone who claimed he had worked at the vidal sasoon salon in the city and he was horrible. 100% rookie. All i asked for was for him to blowout my curly hair and he was comepletely struggling almost to the point that i wanted to say i shoulve stayed home and done it myself! Never going back waste of time and waste of money. If youre looking for skilled professionals stick to city salons. more

I'm in love 10/24/2005

I was a little confused walking into phoenix because its a buzz of activity. But it was a fun enjoyable and the most gratifying hair cutting experience I have had for at least 2 years. I walked out of Phoenix feeling like a model. I also found everyone who worked there incredibly friendly. I definately recommend. Pros: atmosphere, funky, stylish Cons: hard to park more

Where do you get your hair cut? 9/18/2005

This is the question I am constantly being asked ever since I started going to Phoenix. I have never had a better haircut and color and absolutely love the atmosphere at the salon. I was shocked to read the two negative reviews posted, as I have never had a bad experience. In fact, I have referred several friends and family members and all are extremely happy. If you want a modern, stylish haircut, with friendly and professional people, this is the place. Pros: great haircuts, professional, comfortable atmospher more

I'm stopped on the streets! 9/4/2005

I don't know what the other 2 reviews are talking about....maybe they were in a different salon? I've been going to Phoenix since it opened. I'm constantly stopped on the street, in stores, at my kid's school, in restaurants,...all wanting to know where I get my hair done. Not only have I received a top notch cut every time, but I've experienced nothing short of absolute professionalism from any staff member I've had contact with. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else! Pros: cutting edge, quality, current more

Absolutley Fabulous! 9/2/2005

This is by far the most professional Salon and Day Spa I have ever been to. The experience far exceeded my expectations. Everyone from the receptionists to the stylists to the assistants were very knowledgeable and helpful. The end result of my color and cut was astonishing! The stylists were able to give me exactly what I wanted. I travel back to New York quite a bit and I'm able to visit quite a variety of Salons, Phoenix is definatley my top choice! I would highly recommend Phoenix Salon and Day Spa to anyone who is looking for a professional, knowledgeable and creative enviroment! Pros: Great location, Great prices, creative stylists more
