this shop has been open for more than 10+ years. that SHOULD tell you something. i have been coming here for years. and everytime i take my pug here, he always comes out fresh. thank you pet joy. and thankfully they have a new branch open closer to my home which i now go to that location instead. but this groomer is great. thank you again!! too bad most of the customers are all old that dont know how to use the internet. if that wasnt the case, pet joy would have a lot more better reviews. too bad. more

wonderful establishment 12/11/2009

So I took my standard poodle pookie in for grooming about 2 days ago. I must admit that that was the best haircut she has ever gotten. I've gone to sparky's petco petsmart, and they never knew how to groom a standard poodle body, let alone a mohawk. My custome cut was a short body, some puffs on the feet and a mohawk. I thought they were going to laugh at me for even suggesting it. Without hesitation they took my dog, and my exact instructions. When I came back 3 hours later my dog was completely different. I barely recognized her. She look amazing. Now they have a client for life. I highly recommend this grooming spa. Worst Place Ever! Owner only cares about money! 8/16/2009

This is the worst place ever. Since I wasn't living at home, my family took my dog to this place for over three years and he never got the same hair cut, even if we requested to have it cut like the last visit. We tried to schedule an appointment for the weekend but the owner refused stating we have too many ""custom needs"". All we wanted was to have our dog's hair trimmed short. My dog even came home once with a red eye and he was completely traumatized, and it definitely looked like someone had poked his eye with a sharp object. I moved back home to my family and dog and we have been going elsewhere with better service. The owner had the nerve to call and ask why we weren't coming..... we told her that we will never go back! We now go to Sparky's in Beverly Hills or West hollywood and they are much better. Cons: Owner is Greedy, They don't care for your pet! more

Benifit of the doubt 7/29/2009

FINALLY!!! A grooming shop that would walsh my pitbull(Samatha-Jean) and approached it in a professional matter. They know the possible risk w/working on pitbulls, rottweilers, ect. yet proceeded safely and knowledgably. The end results were a fresh, clean, loveable Samantha Jean, and an invite to stop by again anytime. Thanks for the hospitable service and not being pre-judgmental... Pros: AMAZING J0B more

It was my first time ever grooming my dog, and I heard so many things about grooming shops so was scared of taking my dog to one. I finally decided to take him and took him to this beautiful establishment. I couldn't be happier, they made me feel great about leaving my dog with them. I think that people here complaining are drama queens. I have been other places, and hello? Animals are unruley, animals try and bite, especially cats!! If it were easy people should do it at home themselve. So anyways, I love it here. I took my first time pup and she came out looking beautiful and loves the groomer. I wouldn't trust anyone else. I definitly would trust these people. Pros: best in korea town more

Warning! Please don't go! 5/1/2009

My best friend told me about her recent experience and I was completely terrified by what she told me. She has been taking her cats to this groomer for a long time. She trusted them and thought they did a great job. On her last visit, their great job included cutting a chunk of her cat's ear off and cutting the cat's neck. She wasn't alerted to any of this until she noticed herself after taking the kitty home. He was acting funny and crying a lot. Apparently, instead of letting her know about what happened, the groomer had stuck some of his fur back onto his open wound to try to cover up the mistake. When my friend confronted the groomer, he told her that he had forgotten to tell her about what happened! How do you FORGet to tell someone that you cut their cat's ear off? That is just ridiculous. Not only that, he then went on and tried to blame my friend for having an unruly cat that didn't like males. IF YOU CANT HANDLE THE CAT CALL THE FREAKING OWNER. My friend then asked for the owner's number of which the groomer reluctantly gave up. The owner was of little help. She didn't even want to give my friend a refund for the hair cut. She let my friend know that she couldn't believe she had to deal with this when she was on vacation. She had to be talked into giving my friend a refund. This might be related on unrelated... A day after the grooming session of horror, my friend's cat was sent to the emergency animal hospital. There was blod in his urine. The vets need to do surgery immediately and say he has a 50% chance of survival. Little too concidental if you ask me. When did cutting hair become life threatening? If you love your pet and I am complete sure you do. DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS SHADY ESTABLISHMENT Pros: nothing Cons: not responsible more

My dog looks adorable!! 11/25/2008

I just picked my dog up from her first grooming at Olympic & La Brea Dog Grooming, and I'm sooo happy. I have an old, special needs Poodle who's difficult to groom. She has deformed rear legs, she's deaf and she has no teeth, which has caused her lower jaw to deteriorate. On top of all that, she hates being groomed and isn't terribly cooperative. Pros: Easy parking, friendly staff, skilled groomers, reasonable prices. Cons: None! more

Be Afraid 8/10/2008

This groomer used to phone me every month as a reminder for my dog's grooming appointment. I've gone to this groomer for years and was pleased until -- a new employee punctured my dog's eardrums. This was diagnosed by the Vet. We've tried medication, but nothing helped. HE IS NOW DEAF AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE EMPLOYEE'S ABUSE. The owner was surprisingly unsympathetic and blamed my dog's age, saying an hour on the table was too long. She then admitted she needed her employees and said I could only bring him in for a bath. Like I would ever trust this groomer again! Beware! Do not let them clean your dog's ears! Pros: parking Cons: New employee(s) more

Great service 8/1/2008

We have been taking our cocker spaniel to Olympic & LaBrea Dog Grooming for about 10 years. They groom her exactly as we request (we like her trimmed a bit shorter than the normal cocker cut) and they seem to really care about the dogs. They do call after about 6 weeks to remind you that it's time to bring your dog back in (probably to keep up their business but it's a good reminder for me as well). Unfortunately my dog is getting older and the shock of going to the groomer is getting to be too much for her. I might have to switch to a mobile pet groomer that can come to our house. Pet Friendly Services 6/16/2007

Very friendly staff!! You can leave your babies (pets) without any worries. I have been a customer for one year and trust no one else with my baby Xavier( Soft-coated wheaton terrierpoodle mix). Then even call you to remind you that your 6 week cleaning is due. I have recently adopted a Shih Tzu (Dominio), who will pay his first visit to the groomers soon and worries are the last thing on my mind. Your pet will be well taken crae of and cleaned with care. I love taking my dog to get groomed there. My dog is a regular customer because they always do an awesome job. The staff are very friendly and its very convenient how somebody comes in a couple of times in a month for teeth cleaning so i can have my dog groomed and teeth cleaned at the same time. The prices seem very reasonable for all the services they supply. I also always make an appointment before i take my dog in so when i go pick my dog up, its always ready on time smelling wonderful. Not only do they groom dogs, they also groom cats so I recommended all of my friend's who have pets to go there! Pros: helpful, friendly, good services more

pretty good prices, great results 12/16/2005

I don't know what the going rate is for dog grooming, but I don't mind the rates this place charges (they seem reasonable) and they always do an excellent job. I've taken my dog (a medium sized, medium-long haired Lab mix) here about 5-6 times and am always happy with the results. They are pretty much full service, they wash, do flea treatments, cut or shave, trim nails, and have someone come in to do teeth once a month (maybe more). Very friendly groomers too.
