Best

The best cheesesteak in SOUTH Philly, much better than the Jersey residents and big mouth across the street. Pat's has the best rolls, chopped steak and good quality cheese and...

Worst

Pat's is great (if you're not from Philly). Every neighborhood in Philly has a place that's better than Pat's. Unless, it's 3:00 am or you just want to see some cool autographed p...

Cheese head 12/3/2002

Oh my god....We drive over 2 1/2 hours to get this wonderful treat. I know that it is not healthy but if your gonna go, you are better off going with a cheese mustache and a smile on your face. Pros: Delicious, Wonderful, Tasty Cons: Dirty tables, It's cold outside, staff a little brazen more

shookla 12/3/2002

Sandwich was too greasy. Eating area was dirty. Price to high for the amount of food. Pros: good peppers Cons: greasy, dirty more

overrated 11/27/2002

Tourist only. I spent all my life in Philly and there are much better sandwiches at Tony Lukes @ Front & Oregon more

Awesome 11/27/2002

I travel all the way to Philly just for a Pat's Cheesesteak. It's a three hour ride from to home to Pat's! more

DON'T BELIVE THE HYPE 11/21/2002

If your looking for a really good cheese steak, do not go to Pats or Genos(although Pats Steaks is better than Genos). I have been eating cheese steaks since I was still in diapers and these two establishments don't make good cheese steaks. But it's not a bad place to go to fulfill one of those late night cravings. Pros: super quick service, late hours Cons: parking, exposed condiments, location more

Perfect 11/14/2002

The perfect roll, the perfect ordering system, deliciously simple ingredients, all infused with so much grease you have to lean over to not dribble all over yourself. I suggest hot sauce and birch beer to top it off. Even if you have to sit in your car to eat after standing in the freezing winter wind to score one, it's totally worth it. Avoid it between 1:30 and 3:00am on weekends - unless you like a long line and a loud, rude, drunken sideshow as an appetizer. Pros: neighborhood/scene, birch beer, open waaay late Cons: sometimes long line more

great place to eat 11/9/2002

the best place to eat in philly for cheesesteaks. I visit there every time i go to philly. Pros: , inexpensive Cons: good parking, crowded more

commercial 10/25/2002

Pat's cheesesteaks along with Geno's are about as generic as they come. People only go there because they saw a sign in someone's video. If you want a real cheesesteak go to Billy Bob's down by University City. more

wiz wit 10/25/2002

GREAT PLACE TO GO ANYTIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT FOR A SNACK OR A MEAL. YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND SOMEONE YOU KNOW AT PAT'S. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO ORDER BECAUSE IT KEEPS THE LINE MOVING AND EVERYONE IS HAPPY WHEN THAT HAPPENS. Pros: GREAT ROLLS, GOOD VALUE Cons: POOR PARKING more

fatty steaks 10/23/2002

The only time Pat's is considered good eats, is when the ""out of towners"" and ""party"" crews eat there. For us locals there are a whole lot of corner steak shops that out rank Pat's. Pat's is good for their fries though. more

T's Review 10/22/2002

I do not know what all the hype is about Pat's Steak but I definitely have had better cheesesteak. The steaks there are chewy, tough and just not good. I know that Pat's is supposed to be a South Philly institution and you guys hold it in high regards but it really isn't the best cheesteak like every one claims it to be. I know that people have the opinions but this is just my take on things. more

There are other cheesesteak places! 10/21/2002

They're social enviroment helps have an enjoyous meal and not a waste of time, and the option and taste of not only thier chessesteaks but thier cheese fries more than makes up for the gas money to get there, $3 to cross the bridge, and the purchace price for thier food. Also i wouldn't have my cheesesteaks made any other way than with the original CHEESE WIZ!!! Pros: CHEESE WIZ, CHEESE FRIES, GREAT TASTE Cons: PARKING, That's about, it! more

The old gray mare 10/21/2002

As the title says The Old Gray Mare ain't what it use to be. Pat's is living on it's reputation. The steaks they serve now can be purched at the local supermarklet in the frozen food section. I had people in from Phoenix Az who said that they get better Philly steaks in Phoenix. ( I've had them and they are right). Get back to Basics. Cons: slow service, indifference more

don't believe the hype 10/1/2002

For kitsch and phila 'tude, go for it. For steaks...ummm...let's just say for 6 days afterwards I was picking grizzle out of my teeth. the beef was chewy and dry. Pros: parking, "historical" Cons: chewy, nasty, bland more

More hype than anything 9/22/2002

A Philly institution? Sure. The best steaks in town? No. Not even close. Go for the experience, but for a real steak head outside the city limits for Pudge's in Blue Bell...better, cheaper, the BEST. Pros: Philly true! Cons: The food... more

Overrated 9/17/2002

The meat (what little could be found on the sandwich) was grizzly. I've had better cheesesteak at just about every pizza shop I've been to. Pros: Nostalgia, Personality Cons: Quality more

NOPE.....GENO'S!!! 9/3/2002

Geno's is better than Pat's no question. I am not saying Pat's is bad, but I don't see how anyone could prefer Pat's. The determing factor lies in Pat's carelessness with the onions -- sometimes Pat's leaves them half raw, and sometimes extra soggy. Geno's onions however, are superiorly fried. Pros: cheese wiz option, quick service, open all night Cons: poor onion quality, unholy amount of ..., griese more

Overrated!!! 8/19/2002

Tourist trap warning. This place may have great atmosphere, but unless you are a native South Philly person an objective look at the steak shows it to be lousy. Gristle and a small amount of steak on a roll with melted plastic cheese--YUCK. Bad value you need to eat 2 or 3 to get filled up. Dalessandro's is head and shoulders above this inadequate sandwich. Pros: dirty sidewalk, atmosphere, history Cons: gristle, chhese wiz, small portions more

Pat's is the King! 8/15/2002

Nothing beats Pats! The atmosphere is great, the cheesesteaks are delicious, and the prices are cheap- it's the best deal in town! more

Wit o Witout Gizzz..... 8/14/2002

Either way, Pat's King of Steaks is by far the best place to eat a cheesesteak(s) in Philly. Where else can you hear street performers sing and listen to smooth jazz 106.1 on the radio all while enjoying an all-philadelphian cheesesteak? more
