Pasadena Dental Care - Run the other way 5/17/2012

Dr. Wyndhamsmith is a good dentist however his staff and his partner Dr. Kim are unprofessional and rude. I went to the Pasadena office and needed a new crown, Martin at the front desk recommended Dr. Kim. My first visit was uneventful, however when I went back to get my crowns they looked horrible. Instead of Dr. Kim listening to my concerns he started arguing with me and told me that was the best he could do. He told me to bring someone I trusted with me next time. So I decided to ask one of his dental assistance if she thought my teeth looked ok. She agreed that they looked bad and needed rework. \r Thankfully Dr. Wyndhamsmith came and had to start the process all over again since Dr. Kim's work was obviously a disaster. I had to come back a few times to get everything taken care of. Martin then told me that my paperwork was all completed and sent to the insurance. After 3 weeks I had not heard anything back from the dentist office regarding reimbursement, so I called the insurance myself. \r Come to find out Martin never submitted the correct paperwork and my claim was just sitting there. I called Martin and he was rude and unprofessional, and tried to tell me that he did me a favor. It's a shame because Dr. Wyndhamsmith is a good doctor however he is surrounded by a bunch of unprofessional and uncaring staff. DO NOT GO TO THAT OFFICE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE.\r more

My husband and I recently had a bad experience at the office in VALENCIA The first indication was that we were the only ones in the waiting room.....hmm. We read the reviews AFTER going to the Valencia office. It was filthy, the receptionist ignored us, she looked like she was in outer spaceland, and the guy who tries to get your money (a root canal/fillings, etc.) was a loser. He acted like he was God. Of course on the phone they said my husband could have multiple services during our visit, but when we arrived, they wouldn't even clean his teeth because they were so busy (not one person was in the waiting room, before, during OR after). I don't know how they can get away with lying and cheating people. Karma will definitely come through sometime soon I am sure. They aren't members of OUR Valencia community, as they are from ""Pasadena,"" and probably opened a second office after doing demographics, figuring they would make money out here. Wrong..........they screwed the wrong people. P.S. after my husband went to another dentist for a second opinion, he didn't even need a root canal, just a few fillings, and they cleaned his teeth). Good thing we at least found a better dentist, and one that has been in the community a long time, AND for once we were glad to see a PACKED WAITING ROOM! more

Better off elsewhere 8/17/2010

This is the worst dental office that my husband and I have ever been to. Normally I am not one to complain. However, I felt compelled to sign up for an citysearch account just so that I can share with others my bad experience as a patient here. Reasons why you should go elsewhere: -Average wait time for the 4 visits I've had here was 30-45 minutes just to be seated in the dentist chair, and an additional 15-20 minutes before being seen by the hygienist and dentist. They often book way too many patients than the dentist can actually see in a 30 minute period, at the cost of customer service and general courtesy for patients' time. -Male receptionist is defensive/aggressive when asked for clarification about charges. The fees are consistently well above the stated fee schedule provided by my dental insurance. -Dr. Kim is distant (no eye contact) and often seems rushed. During my first visit to the office, I waited ~40 minutes to see Dr. Kim, and he said all of two sentences to me in the three minutes he was in the exam room. After he left, I realized I had forgotten to ask him one brief question. I had to wait another 30 minutes just to ask him the question. -Dr. Wyndhamsmith is cordial and competent. However, he's only been there once when I was there. -The male Filipino hygienist/dental assistant is the only consistently courteous staff member I've met here. Don't waste your time here, literally. more

valencia dental care 7/14/2010

the office is very clean with a very professional staff...the staff is very helpful in explaining the insurance benefits...all the doctors have been in practice for many years and give many options to the patient's needs...the great thing about this office is that they have all the dental specialists on staff.....therefore making it very convenient so that extra time does not need to be taken off work to be referred to a specialist at a different location....making the care very efficeint and comprehensive Pros: clean, high tech office, great polite staff more

Pasadena Dental Care-Rudeness and Appointments 9/15/2009

The guy in charge of appointments, Martin, is extremely rude. I had made an appointment (which, by the way, one has to make about a month or more in advance) for their earliest available, which was one of two times - not sure. The person told me 2:30 on Tuesday and that was fine. Day of I call for directions and they say the appointment was at 10:30. So one of two things could have happened: either the receptionist really did tell me 10:30 but her Mexican accent was so thick I thought she said 2:30 (and I'm a fluent, American born 21 year old UC student so there was no miscommunication on my part) or they really did schedule me for 2:30 and then decided to cancel on me the day of. When I called asking if there was any way they could fit me in, because I was going back up north to college the next day, the guy in charge Martin said there is no way and I misunderstood the appointment and he said he had no idea how I could have confused it-very unprofessional. No apology at all from him. Good luck getting in, then maybe it could be a decent place. Pros: Nice building Cons: Very rude and long waits more

Can't i give zero stars? 3/31/2009

I went to the Valencia office but it was so bad I needed to share my experince here. They insisted things that my insurance covered were not covered and I must pay hundreds more than my insurance said I should be paying. After offering to send a copy of my ins paperwork to the Wyndhamsmith's office I was told, ""You should find a new dentist because it is obvious you don't trust your dentist office as much as you trust some person on the phone at the insurance company."" I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not. That is what I was told. When I called my ins again to let them know I was now going to need a new dentist and why my kind insurance rep herself called the dental office. I'm sure it won't shock the reader to discover the Wyndhamsmith's office suddenly changed their tune and said services were covered. \r \r Now of course I do not want to go back there to get the work done, and I am stuck paying for the x-rays I had taken. Pros: x-ray tech was very kind and polite Cons: the rest of the office more

best dentist i've been to 3/9/2009

i have horrible teeth. i went to plenty of dentists in my lifetime and i must say...none compares to pasadena dental care. i had two chipped front teeth and no dentist ever bothered to fix this. i honestly thought it was because i had such fragile teeth that the dentists didn't want to mess up and break my tooth. however, during my initial visit with dr. kim, the first thing he wanted to do was fix my front teeth. he was irked by the fact that no other dentist did this for me and immediately went to work. yes, he's a fast worker..but he is very thorough. in a way, i think he's a perfectionist because although my teeth looked perfectly straight, he wasn't satisfied so he kept working on little details. \r \r also, being that i went to so many dentists, i had tons of questions to ask regarding my dental care. dr. kim sat there with me and answered each question. he also gave me various options so that i would not have to pay so much money. he is very honest and intelligent. he gives you the opportunity to make the best decisions by providing you all the information you need. \r \r honestly, i am extremely happy that i finally found dr. kim. by far he has been the most considerate and intelligent dentist i have met. \r \r im not quite sure why the previous rater had such a horrible experience...but take it from a person who has gone through 6 dentists in her lifetime (i'm only 25). Dr. michael kim is def a VERY qualified dentist Pros: intelligent dentists who do amazing work Cons: poor office staff...there are a few people there who def should relearn their manners more

DO NOT ENTER should be their name 2/14/2007

I have had a lot of dental work done to me and have visited many dentists. With my new HMO insurance, I picked Pasadena Dental Care because I had a friend who went there like 11 years ago and liked it. So I decided to give it a try. Staff seems somewhat friendly, but not professional. I don't like how you don't have privacy when talking about your chart and financial stuff. My exam was ok . It was with Dr. Wyndhamsmith. When I was told what needed to be done I made my appt. thinking I'd get the same dentist. When my appt. date came up and I was called into the room, I noticed I was going to be seen by a different dentist and asked the assistant 's opinion on him. His name is Dr. Kim Michael. She described him as bold, not talkative and a fast worker. As soon as that dentist walked into my room it became a nightmare for me. My procedure was very simple and he, by looking in my mouth, wanted to do major work on my tooth. I was trying to explain to him what Dr. Wyndhamsmith diagnosed (even though it was in my chart) and he just kept ignoring me. Then after he read my chart, he was like oh ok, we just have to do this. Which was what I tried to tell him. Indeed this dentist works so fast that it was SOOOOO painful for me and he didnt care to ask how I was doing. His job was just to finish ASAP. He does his job and leaves the room. Like ""don't bother me"" attitude. The actual place I would say is very dirty and unsanitized. No plastic anywhere. The handle on the light that's above was filled with blod prints from the dentist grabbing it. They seemed very unorganized. Aftering they started working on me, the dentist kept calling out for different tools and the assistants kept having to run out for them. I would just hate for someone who fears the dentist or is their first time to have to go to Dr. Michael. It would just make their exp. much worse than it already may be. Cons: You'll never want to visit the dentist again! more

Waste of Time! 2/13/2007

I went in for a consultation, and as I walked into the office, the small waiting room was packed and there was no place for me to sit. Not a good sign. I sat there and saw one person after another get called in, and I kept waiting. Guess I wasn't high on their list since I was in for a consultation, but that's surely not a good way to attract new patients. An hour and a half later, I was still waiting, and getting late to get back to work. I finally had it and told the receptionist that I'm leaving, and she didn't even bother apologe for totally wasting 2 hours of my time! Not her fault, except maybe for overbooking, but it is her job. If that's the way they do business, I definitely don't want to go there.\r \r By the way, the address of the doctor is now 1060 East Green St, Pasadena. more
