I recently got my hair done with Elizabeth I went in for my appointment and wanted my hair a chestnut brown for fall, after 3 glorious hours it turned out to be a reddish orange hue brown and i guess my hair pulls warm colors is what she said. So i wanted it colored or fixed but was told its not good to do it back to back, did that nmean another 3 hours? and said would fade the more i washed it - think of this buy our shampoo and keep washing. After that, I really didn't want her with shears near my hair. I thought let me go before I have to have to have 2 things fixed, my friend with me said her boyfriend used to get his haircut with her at Greatclips, I was so happy she waited to tell me this. Nice raise. Pros: on pacific Cons: when one does come to me i'll write it in more

Almost the worst! 1/31/2008

For the prices they charge, one would hope for some type of competence, but not at Heat! I asked for a very normal shade of brown that matched my hair color, I ended up RED and burnt. The owner said it would "settle" but that never happened and all my friends asked me what had happened to my hair. The cut was equally awful and not trendy or chic. It was lopsided and I had to trim it up when I got home. LOOK ELSEWHERE! Pros: Location Cons: everything else more

Great Salon 1/23/2008

This is the place to go for a great new look. I hade been over my hair for many years. I had been going to another salon in town for years but I always walked out with the same boring color and style. I made an appointment at Heat and was completely happy with the results. The salon is really cute and as soon as I walked in they offered me a choice between like 10 different Coco's and they served it in cute little mugs. This was a big plus because it was so cold outside. The stylist who did my hair suggested that I had some more slices of blonde to really kick up my color, and some bangs to change my long hair. These two small changes made all the difference. My new style rocks and I will definitely go back. Pros: good customer service, nice stylists Cons: parking more

People at this salon are so scene and hipster they can barely function. 12/20/2007

$60 for a cut? You're joking right? I went and saw Stacy. Not only is she barely legal she doesn't have the experience that merits being changed $60 for a cut. She knocked me in the head with the god damn hair dryer. Smooth. Real smooth. I recommend going elsewhere. more

For great cut and color - see Julie Leach at Heat! 11/28/2007

I have read some of the other reviews of Heat and I have to say, it probably depends on the stylist you are seeing. I highly recommend Julie Leach. She is professional, no-nonsense, and an extremely talented stylist. She is worth the price. When Julie cuts and colors my hair, I receive compliments on it for weeks after it's been done. People have asked me if I just colored it and had it cut 3 weeks after I've seen Julie. I know there have been issues with the management in the past, but I think the current staff have worked hard to improve the salon. Cons: Julie works on Thursdays and Fridays only more

Postive People and Great Results! 11/15/2007

I just went to Salon Heat for the first time and it was incredible! From booking the appointment on the phone, a professional greeting when I arrived -to adopting a new stylist, I had an excellent time. Heats got that harmony of fun and funky but classy and sophisticated that I was looking for. I got a new hair do and some color as well. It was a little pricey, but I expected that from a higher end salon. It was cool too because it seemed like everyone was having a good time. My stylist was chatty but not talking my ear off the whole time. My hair came out fabulous! It was an awesome day and my husband loves it! Cons: parking was a little hectic so i was late more

Asked for blond, came out orange and dark brown - 3 hours later! 11/2/2007

Today I was at Heat Salon for the first time. I had an appointment at 11:00 am. We talked for a good 30 minutes before she started to make certain we both understood what I wanted in a cut and color. When I arrived, I had blond hair with highlights and solid white-ish blond bangs. I told her I wanted almost solid white blond with a little solid dark just in the back along the bottom. At 2:00 pm (yes, 3 hours later) she was shampooing me. I was already an hour late picking up my daughter, so I told her she did not have to style it, I would do it at home. To my surprise, I looked at myself in the rear view mirror of my car as I was leaving and discovered my bangs were orange and the rest of my hair was a dark reddish-brown. Not at all what we discussed for 30 minutes before she started. My 15 year old son was with me during this time and is my witness to the conversation I had with Jaylana. He even said that she colored it almost opposite to what I asked for. I am naturally a dishwater blond, so you can imagine my shock when I saw how dark my hair was. To add insult to injury, the right side of my hair is an inch longer than the left side. The price for my visit was $180 and now I have to pay someone else to fix it! Grrrrr...... I am very disappointed in my experience, as I have heard good things about Heat in the past. What's worse than orange hair for $180??? Pros: Nice location downtown Cons: Stylists do NOT LISTEN! more

Horrible... 9/10/2007

I went to heat because I heard good reviews about it, I walked by it many times downtown, and thought it looked really classy. So I went in, told the guy that I wanted longer layers in the back and in the front, the guy didn't talk to me at ALL the whole time, and my haircut ended up looking like a mullet!!! It was so horrible, worst experience I have ever had with any Salon. I will NEVER go back. Pros: The salon decorations was cute... Cons: EVERYTHING! more

I saw a friend of mine and her hair looked really cute. She told me to go to Heat and raved about them. I went in with high expectations and I couldn't believe the chaos. My hair stylist was very sweet but very unprofessional. Her family (including children) decided to come by and hang out (not joking) while she was doing my hair. She was still working on another woman's hair and that woman was crying(again not joking). On top of that (yes there's more) her ex came by to hang out as well. The stylist recommended products that were being discontinued and could only be found in Los Gatos or on-line. During the hours that I was there, I was not offered a beverage or magazines to read while waiting. My hair dye washed out after one washing and the stylist left a big long chunk of hair in the back. My coworkers pointed out the long chunk of hair the next day when I went into my office. That was very embarrassing! I called the stylist and told her what happened and she told me to just cut it myself! I paid over 200.00 for the cut and color. That's without any perks! I talked to the friend who reccommended the salon and she said my experience was totally strange and not usual. It was dumb but I decided to give the stylist and salon one more chance. The second time, there wasn't any drama or family or ex's hanging out but my hair dye didn't take again. The second time cost me 170.00. I called the stylist to let her know the dye washed out. She was very nice and told me to come in. Did I mention that I am very busy and don't have time to live at a salon? I went in again and she dyed it without charge (of course). My hair dye is staying but (sheesh!) that was exhausting. I just don't have the time or energy to deal with all of that. I told another friend what happened and she confirmed that Heat has a very bad reputation. It's too bad because I really wanted to love it . more

I got my hair cut at Heat a week ago by a very sweet girl named Gemini. Not only did she give me a fabulous cut and a wonderful head massage while she was washing my hair, but I have gotten compliments every day, even by people I don't know, and someone liked it so much they asked for my stylist and salon so they could go get the same cut. Definitely recommended! Pros: I didn't have an appointment and they saw me in 15 minutes. more

Avoid this salon 6/24/2006

NOT recommended. Made an appointment for a color and to get my bangs trimmed. Color wasn't horrid - but no where NEAR good enough to justify outrageous cost for basic color/highlights to shoulder-length hair. Then came the cut - the "stylist" sheared off inches I repeatedly asked he not touch, and then completely forgot to address the only part of my hair I originally asked he trim - my bangs. When he finished, my hair was a good two inches shorter and completely lopsided. Right side is practically a different cut from the left side. Brought this to the manager's attention, and she gave a half-hearted attempt to explain my uneven hair as "it happens to the best of us." I was so shocked over what an amateur treatment I received that I simply paid ($175) and left. Totally unacceptable. Called later (twice) to question pricing / experience of stylist and left message asking manager to call me back - but have yet to hear from the salon. Perhaps there are better stylists on staff - who knows. One can only hope. Pros: Location, good product selection Cons: Trouble listenting to clients more

I've heard pros and cons about Heat -- Pricey, so-so customer service, and so on. Even though it wasn't cheap, I loved my cut, and my color looked great in the salon and the next day, and the next. My stylist was courteous, and gave me the cut I asked for. I would absolutely recommend Heat to anyone looking for a great style. Pros: good quality Cons: parking more

Snobby small minded "manager" 3/17/2006

Despite it's bad reputation for being over priced with mediocre skilled staff, I took the chance and tried it out. The cut was fantastic I must say but when you charge so much for coloring and highlights, you should know what you are doing. And when problems do arise if you call yourself a manager you should possess one thing, customer service skills. This person has a lot to learn about the consumer driven world. She's giving the salon a bad name with her condascending arrogant attitude. Among my friends who are longtime SC residents, the word was already out there. And just now I called another salon and received the same opinion 'Oh yeah, that salon is getting such a bad rap lately!' Pros: good hair products Cons: the manager - rotten more
