I went to Park Chow with my 3 year old son and 5 month old daughter. I was not offered a booster seat for my 3 year old son but was given a coloring sheet with crayons. He sat o...

My ""home away from home"" SF restaurant 6/17/2005

I wind up eating more lunches and dinners at Park Chow than any other restaurant while in San Francisco. It's cozy, casual, great food, cheerful service, and can't beat the value! more

would not go back 5/11/2005

rude service. poor food quality and expensive too! overall, a very bad dining experience. waiters mostly college students the type who are superficial, childish and blase. food sets like cement glue in the stomach. there are many better places you can go to within two blocks that are more friendly and serve real food for reasonable prices. Cons: poor service, lousy food, expensive more

Favorite Restaurant in the City 1/28/2005

Park Chow is my favorite restaurant in the city. Great food, great service, great ambiance. Nothing better. more

An Old Favorite 5/19/2004

I've been going to park chow I'd say about 10 years. My favorite dish is the oven-baked lasagna and their ginger cake with caramel sauce and pumpkin ice cream is TO DIE FOR! The service is very good, the prices are just right, and the ambience is cozy and comfortable. If you're a priss, this is not the place for you. If you are the type who would throw on an old pair of jeans and a comfy pair of shoes, or maybe you just want a homey meal after an afternoon in golden gate park...this is the place to be! Pros: delicious, fair-priced, fun/cozy atmosphere more

Great time 4/21/2004

I've been to Park Chow several times over the years and the food has always been good and the service good as well. A couple weekends ago I had a small party of about 12 people and reserved the private room. The food was incredible, the management a pleasure to work with and our waitress was fabulous. Thanks so much for making my little lunch party so special!!! Pros: Food, Service, Management more

Consistently good 4/15/2004

This place is a gem. I am very happy to say I have never had a bad experience or meal from Park Chow. On top of that, everything I have ever tried has been great! If I'm in the mood for a great steak, I think of PC; in the mood for a ""home-cooked"" type meal (like their chicken & potatoes!) I head for PC. Great wine selection. Great place for brunch, lunch & dinner. Service is always casual and very friendly. The atmosphere is great: fireplace for the chilly Sunset evenings & cool patio upstairs for those rare, warm days. Overall wonderful! Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

Grass Fed Love 1/25/2004

The need for red meat hits me only a few times a year, but when it does...I want quality. Last night, I had a phenomenal steak ($12 here could easily be $18 elsewhere) and rich red wine. We chose Park Chow becuase we know they have top quality food - including grass fed free range cows. My husband shared this carnivorous craving with me and also had a steak & red wine. We started with the plain dinner salads with a light delicious dressing - only $2.95. Our server was friendly and professional. Near the warm fireplace, I felt as if I was at home - comfy & cozy. Pros: value, service, cozy warm envornment more

yum! 8/26/2003

here's a nice little neighborhood restaurant with food that's reasonably priced and delicious. mostly nice and simple comfort food such as pork chops, pasta's, and salads. usually has a cozy vibe to it, as the restaurant is only so big. unfortunately they don't take reservations, so expect a wait on weekends. oh, and parking in this area is seriously scary. Pros: goodfood, cozy, inexpensive Cons: no reservations more

Good Food for Low Prices 8/2/2003

The best part about Park Chow is the reasonable price. Other Italian/American restaurants charge up to the stratosphere for less than stellar food. Park Chow has excellent seafood linguini and meat dishes. While the ginger cake is highly recommended by many, the mussels in coconut broth and the Cobb salad are the true stand-out dishes. The environment is warm and casual. All goals including dating, group eating, or just a family dinner can be met at Park Chow. The only con is the inconsistent service. P.S: CAll in for the Wait List. Pros: Reasonable Price, Good food Cons: Inconsistent Service more

affordable, delicious, and fun 7/23/2003

A really cute restaurant with a fun atmosphere and very good comfort food. Soups and salads are tasty, as is the hamburger, which comes on a baguette instead of a bun. My absolute favorite is the warm gingerbread with pumpkin ice cream and caramel sauce - I would make a trip to Park Chow just for this dessert! A real neighborhood gem. more

my favorite sf spot 7/22/2003

i always bring out-of-towners here for its casual cuteness, comfy atmosphere and always-hits-the-spot food. i've never had a bad meal, the food is always great, no matter what you order, and prices are reasonable. you just feel at home here. the service can be a little friendlier, but it goes with the make-yourself-at-home, sit-as-long-as-you-want vibe of the place. but i won't eat here unless i get a seat upstairs on the deck--that's half the fun. Pros: comfortable, cheap, great food more

Good atmosphere 7/1/2003

Last week I went to Park Chow for the first time. The atmosphere is great for going and hanging out with friends over a casual dinner & a few drinks. Don't order the ""entree size"" salads though. My almost $10 salad was about the size of a small side salad at most restaurants. Luckily my friend was nice enough to let me share off his plate. If you do go during peak hours or on the weekend, I would suggest doing the call ahead seating. By doing this, we were seated nearly immediately as opposed to having to wait in the long line that was there. Pros: good atmosphere, cheap, diverse menu Cons: small portion sizes, no reservations more

Simply Great Place for Friends 6/7/2003

I always walked by Park Chow - never went it. Finally went for the first time last night for a friends birthday party, it was a great night. Food is good to very good. Service was friendly and attentive, although the waiters couldn't remember who ordered what (no big deal, we were a large party). However, what you pay for is the atmosphere, ask to be seated upstairs under the tent & heat lamps. It's dark and you don't feel out of line getting a little loud - just an all around great place to grab a drink, a bite, and share some good times. I will definetely come back. more

Great Food/ Bad Service 3/8/2003

Have been going to Park Chow for the last year...we REALLY like the food and the value is great. But the service has ALWAYS been horrible. They have this weird system where your waiter/waitress takes your order then you never, ever see her/him again until they come buy smiling with your check. In the mean time, no one comes by to check on your order, no one comes by to check drinks, no one cares (sniff sniff). So, we ended up going up to the bar several times during our meal to refill drinks and such...even then, the bartender knew what was up (we were getting our own drinks because server was nowhere to be found) and he didnt say anything to anyone...weird....weird.... Great food, but if you are looking for service...maybe not.... Pros: great food Cons: poor service more

Dining in SF you can afford! 2/7/2003

Locals don't like to tell too many people about this place...it's so popular. Great for a quick bite or just to hang out. It's the kind of place you go to when you just care about the food. Forget the frills. more

Love it! 1/16/2003

Great place, great food for great prices. The wait for tables can take a while. more

Thursday night meal 1/9/2003

A great option in the crowded Inner sunset restaurant scene. On the same street as Ebisu and House, Park Chow serves up a diverse blend of italian, Asian and American food for very reasonable prices. Pros: inexpensive, diverse menu more

Comfort Delux 11/25/2002

An excellent place to escape on a cold evening. The staff was universally friendly -- even offering to replace my girlfriend's pants if a wine spot (spilled from a customer) could not be removed. Lots of interesting menu choices, the food arrived quickly but I didn't feel rushed. The hot choc cake is a must for cake lovers. Pros: Service, Prices, Food more

Fresh Food...so-so recipes 11/18/2002

Park Chow is a cool neighborhood diner that offers food, fast and hot. Service is always friendly and the ambience is friendly/warm/very casual. I will eat here from time to time for convenience and economy, but the food is definitely unremarkable. Like its sunset cousin, this place thrives on serving fresh and healthy food with decent beer and ok wine. The recipes are simply not that good - like a grandma who can't cook, but whose love makes the food fine. A decent diner, but not a good restaurant, if you know what I'm saying. Pros: Cheap, Fresh, Friendly Cons: Tough Parking, crowded, only ok food more

Great Food & Down-to-Earth Atmosphere 11/12/2002

Everytime I eat at Park Chow I leave stuffed, but with plenty of money left in my pocket! The food is delicious, the portions are big, and the atmosphere is great - not stuffy or too trendy, very down-to-earth. Make sure you save room for dessert! Pros: Casual, Friendly, Inexpensive more
