Otto's Import Store & Delicatessen

\r This is an awful place. I ordered food and essential candy for our Hungarian Christmas on the 2nd of December and today on December 23 rd we have no package. Otto charged my credit card on the 15 th and during my first call they said they sent nothing out because one kind of candy is was missing but one hour later they said they sent the package out but are not willing to give out the tracking number. The guy I talked to is arrogant. Don't ever buy from this people they are unprofessional and actually pretty ugly considering it is Christmas and I ordered Christmas goods. My kids will have no szaloncukor now.\r more

Found Otto's online to order some authentic Hungarian products. When I first called, the gentleman suggested that I was looking to purchase items that appeared I had returned from Hungary with them?? I was dumbfounded, but continued by explaining that I wanted to be sure that they were in fact imported from the Kalocza region of Hungary. Strike one. I placed about a $50 order with very specific order instructions (and kept copies) but....they still screwed up my order. Strike two. When I called again to request the correct product that I had ordered (and paid for!) he said that when they received the incorrect product back, they would send out the correct one. Right..... I told him I would certainly be happy to do so; please send me my product with a return, post-paid mailer and I would send them back the incorrect product. He said it only costs $2.50 to send back the wrong product, what's the big deal? I guess you can see where this is going. Strike three! Will NEVER do business with them again. I get the feeling they have your money and send you whatever they want. Save yourself the insults and aggravation and just go to Amazon. more

I would not order on line from this company. Not only did they promise an oder to be shipped by a specific date and did not do it - they did not notify me that the order would not ship and when I calledto inquire they were rude - charged me $40 more to expedite the needed shipment and then told me I was WASTING their time handling the issue on the phone! Horrible way to treat a customer orderin $230 worth of merchandise. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! more

My family and I love this place!!!! We shop here every month for Hungarian salamis, wines, and sausages. It is very charming with a HUGE selection of Hungarian goods and products found anywhere. We love the fresh breads and the super tasting Hungarian desserts. Otto and staff are super helpful too!!! We don't speak Hungarian anymore, but they were able to teach us a lot about Hungary. What a sheer disappointment this hungarian deli was. The store was very unsanitary, the products were outdated and stale. Everything in the store was very overpriced and disorganized to say the least. I found Otto to be rude - I was born in Hungary and speak fluent Hungarian and was the least bit impressed with his comments and professionalism. If you're from back East, you can find comfort in this old world style deli! Located in a residential area can be a little different, but that's what makes this place so unique. The sandwiches are wonderful and the owner, Otto, is a hoot! Get him to play his accordian if he has the time. I recommend the imported hungarian paprika and a good German beer to wash down the yummy sausages. I wish there were more places like it!
