an incredible experience 4/30/2008

i have a very high prescription; therefore, i am usually not satisfied with the work of many of the optical stores i have been to. I live on Long Island and could not find an optical store that did good work, and had a large selection of frames to choose from. My friend recommended that I try going to Optical Insight, located in 7 Hanover Square. Initially I thought it was too far to commute, but I gave it a shot anyway and I could not have been happier. My first time there, about 6 years ago, I had an incredible experience, and I refuse to go anywhere else since then. Not only do they have a ton of frames and sunglasses to choose from, but they are extremely fast, do incredible work, and even have the contacts I wear in stock (Acuvue 2). And listen to this, when I'm across the country for business-and I need more contacts, they will ship it to me anywhere I am-no matter the distance, even if I'm in London or even China. I could not ask for better service. And on top of all that -the staff is incredibly sweet and passionate about their work. They really care and pay equal attention to each customer. I always walk out of Optical Insight with a huge smile on my face, and I highly recommend this Optical Store to everybody!! more

Optical Insight 8/31/2007

I went here... its located downtown on Pearl Street (address saids Hanover Sq) by some really nice restaurants ...nice location. I work in the area and it's really nice to know that a place like this can accommodate walk in appointments ...like myself =) ... and they accepted my insurance...no hassle, and an ultra-speedy turn around! ...try 15 minutes for my frames and prescription complete!!! I was happy because it was an emergency situation. The man in charge of the store helped me immensley and the doctor there is really nice. She didn't rush me and she patiently answered my many questions.... (the little hypochondriac I can be sometimes)... after the exam, i had lunch across the street at Waterstone Grill resturaunt... it was a very nice way to end my exam =) I give 2 thumbs up!! more

Utter Incompetance 8/5/2006

Though the people who work there wear white coats, don't be decieved, they have NO IDEA what they're doing. I first went there to replace lens' for my existing glasses (very expensive Face a Face frames) and by the time I got them back, one of the structural screws on the facade were missing. I asked about this and the fella in the white coat (who is NOT a doctor or anything of the sort) said, it couldn't be helped since the "screw was stripped anyway, so I just glued it together with nail polish". WTF??? Real reason, of course, is that he just lost the damn thing. I should have learned my lesson at that point, but unfortunately, I have faith in humanity. A month or two later, because that critical screw was missing and my frames were just glued together, I dropped the glasses and the lens popped out. I took it back to them to fix what they had originally broken, and when they returned it, he (the same fake doctor) had slopped glue all over one side of my glasses and it looked like s**t. They fell apart as soon as I put them on. Ok, so then because I had no glasses to wear out of that place, I had to buy another pair from there. Long story short, he doesn't know how to fit frames and despite 3 separate visits to get them refitted, he failed completely. Completely disgusted by his utter incompetance, I tried fitting the glasses myself and ended up breaking them. After all that, I've learned my lesson and have now taken my business elsewhere. I'd rather spend my $600 dollars elsewhere. DO NOT, under any circumstances, waste your money here. It is a place of incompetance and failure. more

Horrible service, rushed exam, overpriced. 2/2/2006

I went to Optical Insight in the financial disctrict of Manhattan for an exam, glasses and contacts. The optometrist rushed my exam, often not even waiting for my response of whether one lens was better than the other. I asked him about this and he said "don't worry about it." This should have been my first clue not to continue there. When I got my contacts, the prescription was wrong, so he had to examine my eyes again. If he had examined my eyes properly the first time, the second exam would not have been necessary. The sales people are unattentive. I had to ask for contact solution and paper napkins when I had to put my contacts in. They seemed like they hated their jobs and service was poor. The prices for their frames are very expensive. I should have gone to a place with better prices. Please pick a better optometrist! more
