Keep walking! 5/12/2006

I was in this store yesterday. This is the downtown Old Navy flagship store. Do we really need three levels of completely unorganzied, cheap Old Navy clothing under one roof? No. I went in to look for a hoodie sweatshirt for my daughter. If I wanted one in a yucky dark brown color that was paper thin and had an uneven hem, I'd have been in luck. Turns out, I walked a block to the Gap and found what I wanted. more

Stop the insanity! 4/13/2006

I feel a strange nerve twisting in my brain whenever I have to witness an Old Navy commercial. I know it is all a joke, but come on, they're horrible. Their clothes look cheap even in the commercials. I have a rule that if the clothes look poorly fitted on the models, then they definitely are going to be dingy on us regular folk. The downtown flagship store is scary. The three-floors of mass clothing piles/racks are daunting and the swirling pre-teens and mothers chasing after toddlers is chaotic. The clothing is as the ill-fitted models would have predicted: cheap stitching, shapeless, and rough fabrics, as least in the women's section. I have seen some pretty good men's button-downs and polos, I must admit. The prices are very impressive, especially two-for-one deals and such, but then you have to suffer through ill-fitting clothing for the season. I'd say skip it, it isnt worth it. Change the channel quick if a commercial comes on too, you might get some fleece-jingle stuck in your head for a few months. more
