Not that bad to live here 11/30/2011

My family and I moved here a few months ago, due to financial issues. I was reluctant to live here due to the negative reviews. For the price you pay in rent, it is not that bad. Our apartment had brand new carpets and new counter tops. installed before we moved in. The windows could be more insulated but we have plastic over the windows and no problems. We have had some problems requiring maintenance assistance which was done in a decent time frame. Currently management is trying to get rid of the rift raft that has inundated this complex. The complex is relatively close to stores, (9 miles to walmart/ price chopper) Only 12-15 miles to downtown Albany. This is a good apartment if you need to downsize or are just starting out. The size of the apartment is good for the price you pay in rent. They have a brand new pool that was installed this summer. Can not wait to go in this coming year.... The new management company is trying to get the apartments up to date. This takes time, but so far what I have see is all good. more

terrible place to live 12/15/2009

I used to live in Oakbrook also know as hell....When I first moved there it was beautiful..lots of maintance and grounds keepers. As the years went on it got increasingly worse to were there was no maintance for atleast 1 year. They refuse to fix anything that breaks. My kitchen sink broke and for 6 months I reported it daily. When I moved out it still wasnt fixed. I had to use a piece of board to prop the elbow pipe up so I could use the sink. The central air never worked, laundry faciluties are a joke. No screens on the windows. and when you do open the windows all you smell is dog poop or trash. My children missed school due to lack of snow removal..the buses refused to come in. When I complained about the carpets smelling like animal urine I was told they would be replaced...NEVER HAPPENED. I wouldnt recommend living there! Cons: almost everything more

Avoid this complex at all costs 3/5/2009

There has been two huge fires in the last 3 years. They just recently hired people for snow removal and lawn care, last year they mowed twice and did not remove any snow until the school, post office and fire company complained. The apartments are out dated and very poorly cared for. Central air, dishwasher, kitchen sink and toilet all need repair and have for the last 4 years. Laundry facilities are closed due to burst pipes that the owners did not want to pay a proper plumber to fix. When it was open you only could use COLD water, no hot water even on the hot settings. Machines do not take cash, have to use a magnetic card that doesn't always work in the machines properly. Dryers took three cycles to fully dry medium load of laundry (t shirts, under clothes etc...in other words lightweight clothing). Office personnel are rude, disrespectful and very unhelpful. One of the fire hydrants lays on its side and doesn't even work. These buildings are 35+ years old and some of the apartments still have the original carpets and fixtures in very poor condition. There are many empty apartments along with at least 5 condemned apartments and an entire building that is still being ""repaired"" after the first fire (2 + years ago). The pool has not been usable in years and currently it is home to pondscum, the birds won't even touch it. Daily visits to complex by police, ambulance and fire trucks. In the winter, a frost line appears in your window because they are no longer properly sealed, with floor board heaters underneath them. Heat and hot water are electric, expect at least a $600 electric bill for a 1 bedroom apartment. Leash laws and waste removal is not enforced (piles of dog doo all over in some areas). Full of excuses that if you ask me are completely uncalled for. They charge enourmous amounts of money to live there and they do nothing in return. Oh, and don't expect to get your deposit back when you leave, they find ways to keep it. Pros: Plenty of parking, available apartments, country setting, near stores Cons: dirty, run down, old appliances and fixtures, no maintenance, poor ground keeping, poor management more

Poor Maintenance, Terrible Place To Live 4/18/2007

I lived in Oakbrook Manor for 18 months after moving to the area for a new job. My apartment was filthy when I moved in. I had to fix most maintenance problems myself. They didn't even shovel the walkways to the apartment buildings after 2 feet of snow. It took 4 days to fix a clogged sew line resulting in sewage backing up in my bathtub. I had no use of my bathroom for that time period. The windows are paper thin and ice formed during cold days and outside noise was easily heard. There was a garage behind my bedroom wall where the person renting it would work on vehicles at all times of the day and night. The laundry room was filthy with no hot water. I would not recommend living there at this time. Pros: Cheap, always apartments for rent. Cons: Dirty, Lack of Maintenance. more
