Friendly staff, good at handling insurance, and pleasant doc who is knowledgeable and proactive.

Beware of significant billing "mistakes" 4/9/2007

Here's the positive - As far as skill, they do a fine job. It's a large practice and they accepted our insurance. Most of the employees were nice, but one (or two) bad apple(s) spoiled the whole lot. Here's the problem - Don't rework your schedule and then expect your appointment to actually happen. I had multiple cancellations and had arranged babysitting months in advance. They surely didn't want me to bring two crying babies. This happened about 5 times and I am extremely patient and understanding, having worked in a medical office myself, however I was treated as an annoying patient as soon as I spoke up and said something -asking that they try to fit me in or have another dentist there finish the procedure (which is against their policy). The very aggressive billing receptionist was so incredibly rude to me and my husband that I was totally shocked that they keep her on staff. But I can forgive canceled appointments. I had planned an elective procedure for months. We called oak tree to make sure everything was worked out with insurance and to find out the out of pocket amount for the procedure. Based on that information, I decided to have the procedure. I paid the out of pocket amount and figured all was well. Then two months later I get another huge bill from Oak Tree....why? No one could explain it. They just kept resending the bill. The same aggressive and rude billing receptionist didn't not back down until several months of continued contact and debate. It was finally decided that they charged a higher amount than originally agreed to, but because it took them so long to schedule and reschedule me, the price had gone up since they originally submitted it to insurance. We were treated so poorly by the billing person that I could never go to a dentist that would hire someone with such poor interpersonal skills. There are many dentists in the area that respect their patients time and money. This is not one. more

Extremely friendly and gentle 4/4/2007

I have not been to a dental office in years because I have a phobia of the dentist. On arrival everyone at the front desk was friendly and were able to answer all of my questions. The hygienist was very thorough and explained everything that was going on. Everyone from the assistants to the doctors made sure that I was comfortable with everything that was going on. Everyone was also very gentle, which made the experience even better. I recommend Oaktree family dental and I myself will be returning in the future for all cleanings and dental work. more

Friendly Service Good Work 1/19/2007

No problems with service. Have had several fillings done and cleanings. Teeth are much healthier than before. This does not contradict the negative reviews as - I don't have dental insurance so I've paid directly - I have not had teeth whitening Also I agree that they will push services, but as far as I can tell there are many dental offices that will do so and you just have to stick to your guns and ask them what services you really need for healthy teeth. more

Beware of Overcharging and Protect Yourself from Them!!! 11/28/2006

My daughter and I became new patients at Oak Tree Family Dental Care in June 2006. They messed up my billing big time. I was not aware that they were "overcharging me" until my insurance company sent the reimbursement check directly to me. When I called to find out why, my insurance company told me it was because they were charging for an "out of network provider" and that the services I was charged for were not correct. When I confronted the bookkeeper I was told that they would take care of it. 3 months later I got a bill from them for services I had already paid for. They threatened to send me to collections if I didn't pay so I paid the bill to maintain my excellent credit and am now having them investigated through the state insurance commissioner's office for their suspicious billing practices. Don't go here if you are looking for high quality with accurate accounting. I promise that might be what they advertise but that is not what you will get. more

I had to sue them! 11/20/2006

I agree with everything said by the other reviewers but they kept screwing up my billing. I went to them because they were supposed to be a preferred provider but they kept performing thing that weren't covered. I would ask them each time if it was covered and they would assure that it was. The last time I went in I checked 3 times and insisted the call my insurance because of previous problems. They tried to bill me and when I told them I disputed the bill they sent me to collections 5 days after the initial bill date! I had to take them to small claims court! more

Extra everything 11/11/2006

I have to agree with the other reviewers. I visited OTD for the first time with the intent of just completing a standard cleaning (which I do every 6 months). They are required to complete an exam for new patients, but I was suprised at the number of x-rays and extra effort they put in. At first, I was impressed. But, after all was said and done they had recommendations for everything from a night bite-guards to cosmetic work to new fillings (mine are new!) to advanced cleaning to whitening. I couldn't believe it. I was so uncomfortable I am considering not going back for the cleaning. This is not the kind of behavior I would expect from a dentist. more

Car Salesman for teeth 8/21/2006

When I went here I felt like everything was wrong with my mouth even though I wasn't having any problems and just wanted my teeth cleaned. The dentist came over and proceeded to tell me that I had cavities developing between the majority of my teeth after the dental hygenist said she had never seen such healthy teeth. After the cleaning they sent me to a sales specialist who tried to sign me up for 2000 dollars of work to be done. I felt like I didn't have a choice in saying no and had to aggressivly tell them I was not interested in having any of the suggested work done. OakTree then called me for months on end about the previously mentioned work (not about getting my teeth cleaned). I finally had to tell them not to call me any more and to make a note of that in their computer and that I would call them. more

Good enough for me to go again 3/25/2006

Oak tree to me is a ok place to watch a movie. There are plenty of parking available and it is close to where I live. It is a cozy place. But the movie showing rooms are not spacious and the screens are not big enough. It seems like not many people go to the theater in general. Last time I went there to watch ultra violent, my husband and I are the only people watching the movie. Well, I love AMC Pacific Place better but I'll difinitely go to Oak tree again as it is close and better than a lot of other theaters. more

eye of the beholder... 3/24/2006

I can’t believe how many people complained about the parking situation here! I think that this place kind of sucks, and I hate Lowe’s theatres in general, but we usually end up here on weekends because the number of screens, and the ample parking situation compared with the smaller, neighborhood theatres in the northern part of the city. I have never had a problem finding a space at Oak Tree, but I guess that if you perceive the parking situation as being sparse, then there really is no reason to bother coming here. more

Good local theatre 1/3/2006

This is a decent theatre. They added new seats and larger screen to the main theatre. The price is decent and the shows are the latest ones. The bathroom is kind of weird in its placement upstairs and the parking stinks (small parking spaces and half the lot is not parkable due to the supermarket next door) more

OK neighborhood theatre 12/29/2005

Thius theatre is just like any other Loew's theatre, The good thing about this is you know what to expect....polite staff and fairly clean You will seldem get a surprise at Loew's theaters...which is nice when you have a group or really want to see the movie. more

Friendly service 11/14/2005

The Oak Tree is a reasonably good comfortable theatre to watch the latest flick. Parking is extremely poor inside the mall parking lot, with many other stores nearby it is practically impossible to find a good space to park. However, the staff is very friendly and lines that might seem long always move quicker than I expected. more

Do not go here for teeth whitening 8/19/2005

I went here a couple of months before my wedding to get the "state-of-the-art" whitening done. After paying $600, I was pleased with the results.... for only two days. Over the next week or so, the bright white started disappearing in spots, giving my teeth a spotty look, lasting for a few weeks. Fortunately, the spotty look disappeared by the time I got married. Unfortunately, my teeth were back to the way they looked before getting the whitening done. I can only guess that they must have missed some essential part of the whitening process. However, after some initial resistance, they refunded me the full amount. more

Oak Tree--Sure, whatever 8/18/2005

What bothers me most about the Oak Tree is that every member of the staff that you interact with has to mention by some employment rule that you are watching a movie owned by a company called Lowe's. "Welcome to Lowe's", "thank you for coming to Lowe's", etc. After seeing a couple of movies there, it is enough to make me gag on my popcorn (extra buttery). Other than that, the theater is totally average, with the usual over-priced junk food and movies. You can just picture some suit "upstairs" in management saying "I know, lets make every single customer know in their mind, body and soul, that our fine company owns that theater!!!" I don't really care, and it is really annoying to hear slogans from kids when I am trying to block out reality with a movie. more

MOVIE NIGHTS 6/14/2005

Want to watch a new movie? Oak Tree Cinemas is the best movie theater around. It's casual and comfy, and much cheaper than other theaters such as the Majestic Bay in Ballard. Oak Tree is located on Aurora Ave N. and is surround by many other stores such as Larrys Market, Starbucks, Blockbuster, and IHOP. This theater can play about 7 different movies in a day, as of The Majestic Bay only plays 4. Movie tickets cost abour 6 dollars before 5:00 and after 5, i believe it is raised to 8 dollars. Bring in the family and enjoy a good movie! more
