Dennis at North Seattle Transmission is a gem. He installed a new transmission on my Explorer several years ago. I barely drove the car until recently and something went wrong. I brought the car back to North Seattle Transmission and Dennis promised me he would do the work! I would highly recommend North Seattle Transmission as I’ve taken several of my cars there for repair. Dennis makes you feel comfortable and puts your worries and fears at ease! In my opinion, transmission companies, like roofers and pool builder - are in that ""buyer beware"" category of businesses, special types of firms that often have awful reputations. I run a small company with a fleet of landscape trucks. Recently we had a transmission problem and elected to have NST rebuild a transmission for us and have an employee do the installation. This was done, the tranny was inspected by NST and a week or so later it had a serious issue. My first thought was 'there wont be any warranty' as it always surprises me when folks step up and actually take responsibilty. Well I am happy to tell you that at North Seattle Transmission, they do. Not only did the rebuild the tranny all over again, they carefully explained what went wrong. I am pleased and happy to refer Dennis and the good folks at NST for all of your transmission needs. more

Very pleased with my experience 10/16/2011

After receiving an over-inflated quote for a transmission rebuild from Tom's Automotive in west Seattle, and prompting from friends to shop around as I was getting 'screwed over', I decided to shop around for another garage. I picked North Seattle Transmission because of their AAA status and good online recommendations. After talking with them, trouble shooting my auto problems, and getting estimate for cost of repair, I felt confident enough to have my vehicle taken there. Their service was great, the price I paid was half of what the first shop quoted me, and the repair was done in less than a week, whereas I was quoted 2 weeks by the first shop. What started off as an awful experience by the first shop, was made into a good one by their service. more

Northseattle Transmission was prompt at getting back when I contacted them. They were clear on what they were doing. They explained the cost and why I needed the service. Since my visit at Northseattle Transmission, my car's been just fine. They were helpful and kind. I've used them a couple of times. They've fixed the transmission, timing belt, and catalytic converter on my car. They seemed very honest and forthright. They were willing to talk to me until I felt comfortable and they offered a competitive price. They told me they would took care of the problem because they've been around for a while. more

Totally honest. I would recommend them to anyone. 5/18/2011

I have used Northseattle Transmission several times over the last twenty years, and have never been disappointed. Their customer service is beyond fabulous. I've had Hamilton do complete transmission rebuilds on three of my cars. Two of those three were classics. I'm in the auto business and visit a variety of different shops throughout the week, so I can tell a good one when I see it. The work I have had done at Northseattle is expensive, but I consider it a good value, otherwise I wouldn't continue to bring them my business. They are totally honest, and you don't have to worry about getting ripped off. On the last job, I went first to a shop near my home, but I wanted to get a second opinion from Hamilton. He ended up undercutting the first quote by $500, so it's worth it for me to make the special trip. They will back up their warranties 100, too. I had one car for probably eight years after a transmission rebuild, and when there was a problem he towed it in and took care of everything. Rick Franklin more

As a woman I am always leary about taking my car into a shop for repairs.Having my car worked on at this shop was a pleasant surprise.They took the time to walk me through the repairs needed and explain in great depth the process.I felt like I was treated with respect and the repairs they made were great.Thanks,North Seattle transmission for making my experience painless.Will recomend you to all my friends. more

I was a little leary bringing my car to this shop after reading a review.I found them honest and a pleasure to deal with.They gave me a price range for repairs and came in at the lower end of their range.I would reccomend these guys to any one.Good job more

Northseattle Transmission is the only place I would recommend. I've had nothing but great experiences with them. We have sent transmissions over to them to be rebuilt, and sometimes even the whole vehicle if it's not a vehicle we specialize in. If there's ever an issue, and there's always an issue with cars, they are always willing to take care of it. They do what they say they are going to do, and they back it up. We've sent hundreds of transmissions there, and only about two percent have had issues. Sometimes you don't catch everything the first time, or maybe a part needs some adjusting, so that's understandable. They are very upstanding people, and very courteous. Every experience with them has been great! more

i took my car in and had the trans fixed and i was told what to do to keep it working well. the price was what i was told it would be and the people were helpfull and nice i will use them in the future to get help\r ps i waited 6 months to send this as i wonted to see if the work would hold up and it did\r \r more

Dangerous 2/25/2009

Please think long and hard before bringing your vehicle here for repairs. I brought a friends truck in as a favor. The price quoted was outrageous so my friend decided not to have the work done.\r When I went to pick up the truck, the owner came out and threatened bodily injury. I don't know quite what went on over the phone between the two, but apparently it didn't go too well.\r \r I can't comment on the work, because none was done. But if this is how a business owner treats potential customers, I wouldn't let them near my cars if they paid me. \r \r Beware. Behavior like this shouldn't be rewarded with our business.\r Thanks.\r -R more

No good 2/9/2008

I went to North Seattle Transmission because their prices were a bit lower than the dealer place I've been going to. The reason for lower prices is shoddy work. I dropped my car off and $150 dollars later I got it back in a much worse condition than it was before I dropped it off. I took the car to my regular dealer place and they told me that the spark plug wires installed at North Seattle Transmission were not hooked up properly. I would not recommend this place. The vibe I got from this place was not that great from the get-go (they have a wrong address on their website, the guy who answers the phone thinks it's morning even if you call at 4pm, it takes them a day to diagnose the car's problem, and bunch of other little details). I should have followed my instincts. more
