I had a chance to take my date to a wonderful steakhouse. I have lived in Dallas for nine years and always gone to Bob's and most recently Ocean Prime. Another guest at Ocean Pr...

The Problems we have had is all about the bad/inexperienced wait staff. We Like the atmospher at Nick and Sams. The food is good, but it is putting up with the staff that spoils ...

Best Dallas Dining Expierence 9/10/2007

My fiancee' and I went to Nick and Sam's looking for a romantic ""Steak"" dinner. Our friends mentioned that the place was excellent, and I agree! Hands down this is the best dinner, service and wine list we have seen. The wait staff was prompt, attentive and knowlegable. The atomosphere was cozy, however we sat in the back room which is more secluded than the main floor. The front bar and dining areas were much louder as we exited the restaurant. All and all, I would recommend it to anyone and order 1/2 portions of the sides. Pros: Great food and service Cons: Could get too crowded for some people more

Very disappointing- Never to return 6/24/2007

Reservations made on line worked fine, seated promptly. Ambience was unique but very dark. So dark we needed flashlights to read the menu. Menu items were interesting and oriented to a wine connoisseur as their selection of wines was excellent (and expensive). Service was so so, at times good, but also poor at times waiting far too long to see our waiter and far too long to pay the bill. We visited on a Saturday night so it was crowded and noisy. Perhaps during the week it is less crowded who knows but it was definately a turn off. The meat was very good with the salads very good. Soups and other food like sea bass were too rich. Overall the food left us almost feeling sick it was so heavy. Due to the ambience and noise and dark conditions we were eager to leave and were not enjoying it much. Pros: Winelist, Meat, no so much on the other items. Cons: Ambience, noise, service, value was not worth it. more

Good food, BAD STAFF & Customer Service 1/5/2007

We have been here twice now in '06, once for mother's day & again in Dec to celebrate the holiday with a party of approx 6..We had reservations but still had to wait. 45min. in Dec & about 45-50 min in May. Pros: Pretty good food Cons: VERY BAD WAIT STAFF & -NO- CUSTOMER SERVICE more

Great waiters, terrible service staff everywhere else 1/5/2007

I was visiting Dallas on a trip for New Years Eve and my girlfriend made reservations a month or two in advance. We arrived 30 minutes early of our reservation. We were told that the next table any second was ours for the next two hours. In the meantime we saw the hostess stand attendee take bribe after bribe into his pocket for people claiming to have a reservation and watched them get seated before us. It was now quarter till eleven when we were seated finally. We were pulled aside and told the next booth was ours to watch the host seat someone else at the empty booth. Infuriating could not describe the experience to get a seat after we had reserved it so far in advance. Pros: Waiters and cooks, great food Cons: Host, Valets that are rude more

so so 12/27/2006

We visited this restaurant on 12/22/06 for a company Christmas party. Upon arrival the valet was as expected. The hosts/hostesses were pleasant and directed us to the bar while we waited for our party. The wine display was impressive. One of the bartenders was quite opinionated about someone and even said this person was an f**n idiot. My cosmo was incorrectly made and tasted more like a shot of vodka. TGIF makes better cosmos. The bar filled up quickly just in time for our company dinner party to begin. We were seated quickly and served drinks right away. Our orders were taken quickly and the wait staff was attentivie and pleasant. Their signature 'damn good fries' did not hold up to its name. They were basically seasoned fries. Steak n Shake does better and for far cheaper. I ordered steak and had garlic mashed potatos and asparagus as the sides. I asked for a medium cooked steak but it was brought to me bloody rare so I sent it back. The garlic mashed potatos did not have a hint of garlic and the asparagus was too al dente for my taste. At the end of our meal I felt rushed out and before I knew it I was suddenly at the curb waiting for my car. The bathrooms were clean. I doubt I will return to this establishment but if I do it will be for the bar and wine room atmosphere only. Pros: atmostphere Cons: price vs value of food more

Best Steakhouse in Dallas Metroplex 12/5/2006

I have been to my share of steakhouses in the Dallas area and this one tops them all. The atmosphere embraces you immediately upon entering the restaurant, and your hostess is prompt to greet your party. While waiting for others to arrive, the bar is a grand place to have that first drink to start off your wonderful dinner experience. Once you cross the threshold into the dining room, you know it is going to be a great meal because your surroundings set the mood of nothing other than pure pleasure. The wine menu is extensive, so take your pick, and look, caviar, who could fathom a better amuse bouche. All of the appetizers are great, but my favorite is the crab cakes. Don't pick your main dish on the menu just yet because the waiter/waitress always brings out a nice presentation of a selection of meat that's off of the menu. If you have a group of 3 or 4 people, the Chateaubriand is perfect because it's enough to split between all of you. Also, it really feels like velvet in your mouth, and the taste is nothing that you've ever encountered. I usually don't have room for dessert, so I can't say much about that course of your meal, but you should be quite satisfied after all of the delicious food that you've devoured. I always choose this place for a great birthday outing or a when my husband loses a bet against me, so enjoy because your time there will pass entirely too fast. Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Wine, Bar more

Great all-around 11/24/2006

This place always continues to amaze me. I've been going a few times a year since they opened and every time I am amazed by the scene. I really like to eat in the bar - the dining room feels more like a bomb shelter to me. The bar is always full of beautiful people and the bartender will pour you a strong drink! The seafood dishes are a bit moe creative than in most steakhouses - but I still go for the great tender, juicy steaks most of the time Pros: Great bar scene! more

How many dinners are ""memorable?"" 1/18/2006

The first, last and only time I had the pleasure of experiencing this restaurant, was sadly four years ago. From the first hello, to the grand piano in the kitchen, to the superb service and wonderful food, to the last thank you and goodbye, this place was magical. My dinner guests that night still talk about that wonderful evening we spent at Nick and Sams. If you ever get the chance, go. You won't be disappointed. Pros: Ambiance, Service, Food and wine Cons: not cheap, it's 2,000 mi. away more

Snake & Sam's 10/25/2005

The food was really good, but the waiter was arrogant and discourteous. Pros: portion size, quality of food Cons: expensive, condescending waiters more

Awesome food, and handled 100 plus Eagles fans... 2/9/2005

We went to this restaurant while visiting Dallas to watch the Eagles play the Cowboys. The food, service, atmosphere and wine list were great. Best of all, they had no problem at all with 100 wild Eagles fans doing the E-A-G-L-E-S chant during dinner. more

Good stuff 10/27/2004

Everything was wonderful... from the clean and beautifully decorated dinning room to the huge bar. Service was fantastic, and my ribeye and iceberg salad was excellent. Place was very busy and loud.... but we had a blast and hardly noticed. Best wine list in Dallas. Pros: Good wine list, prime steaks, seafood Cons: , no draft beer more

BMW and up 1/13/2003

So the walk to the bar is great, then the bar itself is fun, the dinning area huge, noisy, convertineers and expenses account types, not for a descrete tete a tete, pianio player, excellent service..but its not Bobs..Not for Accord drivers. more

Tasty Steak 11/14/2002

The service was good and the food was adequate. I'd recommend this restaurant. -d more
