Editorial review from Citysearch 9/26/2012

Newcomer is an absolutely abhorrent establishment. My father had funeral insurance--not life insurance, insurance specifically to cover his funeral expenses and that's IT--and Newcomer would not accept it because it had not been vested for 2 years.\r \r I am told this is an industry-wide standard with insurance policies--okay, fine. But Andrea Moses, our funeral director, was not even professional enough to VERIFY that, before our hours-long meeting about rental caskets, urns, services, speakers, programs, obituaries, family history, flowers, the whole nine--if the funeral home would be able to accept the insurance policy. Would it not be obvious to someone who has ""been in this business for 15 years"" (as she claims) that this might be pertinent? \r \r Furthermore, when it became evident that they didn't have a guaranteed $5,000 in their hands, they were completely unwilling to work with us to the slightest degree. No options of a payment plan or installments was even entertained. They demanded payment, in full, in a matter of hours. They did absolutely nothing to help us out. We were just stared at until we decided to walk out and figure out our own arrangements.\r \r It is painfully obvious that this company is only about making a buck. I get it, you have to make money--what business doesn't. But the level of unprofessionalism, the lack of compassion, the unwillingness to cooperate the tiniest bit with a customer who is prepared to spend thousands of dollars at your establishment... not to mention that customers come to you in a time of extreme despair and distress, at a very difficult time in their lives. Part of your job is to make this process easier for people who are not emotionally equipped to deal with such logistical stresses. Newcomer failed at this abominably.\r \r I find Newcomer's treatment of their grieving customers to be completely and utterly heartless. They should be ashamed of themselves. I will do everything in my power to steer friends, families, co-workers and strangers far, far away from this business. more

My father had prepaid his services in 6/12/2012

My father had prepaid his services in 2010. He passed away on May 3, 2012. It's June 12, 2012 and payment has still not been transferred from Newcomer's financial department. I was told that it takes two to three days for payment to be transferred and it's been over a month. \r \r I currently have probate court being held up due to Newcomer's unprofessional and incompetent handling of the loss of my father and my best friend, all in their desire to make more money from investment. They have the worse financial handling of accounts of anyone I've ever seen, barring government.\r \r Do yourself and your family a huge favor to ease your suffering and do not hire Newcomer to handle the passing of your loved ones. The money you pay them does not mean, to them, that services will be met. \r \r My only guess as to why it has taken so long, and payment has still not been transferred even though it was paid close to two years prior, is either due to greed or complete incompetence. more

Impeccable service and reasonable price 3/17/2006

My family has used the funeral home in Mt. Healthy advertises itself as family owned, etc. I used the Schneider Funeral Home and purchased the same Batesville Casket in Solid Copper and everything with limousine service, visitation, professional funeral directors, etc was 1/4 the price of the funeral home right up the street. My father would have appreciated me saving over $7,000. The Schneider Funeral Home is unique in that they don't overcharge. They are the best in Cincinnati, OH. Pros: Beatutiful, Great Staff, Reasonable pricing more

Outstanding value in funeral homes 1/26/2006

I paid less than $1,000 for an etire funeral service. I was quoted a price of over $6,000 for the exact same casket make & model, embalming, other prepartation, auto equipment, use of facilities. I received the exact (probably better) service and exact casket as the funeral home up the street that has been in business for generations. I saved over $5,000. I rate this place five stars. I just can't thank Laura and Mike enough. Pros: Beautiful building, beautiful cars, very professional more

THE BEST VALUE ANYWHERE 1/7/2006

I always thought funerals cost thousands of dollars. I got a casket made of stainless steel, and all the services for less than the others wanted for the service fee. This funeral home is the best ever. more

The best in the city! 12/12/2005

I have used other mortuaries but this is the best. They had a beautiful building, beautiful cars, professional staff and at a price that was just a fraction of the one down the street. Laura charged me under $1000 for a beautiful metal casket, embalming, funeral, visitation. If I had used the other one I would have paid 6 or 7 times the price. This place is one in a million. Pros: beautiful chapel, beautiful car, beautiful embalming more
