I tried to order delivery from this place and they were not able to decipher if I was in their delivery area, despite the fact that I lived less than three miles away. I asked to ...

Amazing Thai Food! 3/17/2008

Nakkara is a treat in this overpriced neighborhood. The food rocks and the prices are very reasonable. We love the duck spring rolls, chicken larb, calamari salad, diva catfish... to name a few. We've loved everything we've tried so far! And can you beat byob?! For all you newbies, the owners used to manage Chandara so they are in the know about amazing Thai food. The waitresses are so sweet and their recomendations are on point. The only ""con"" I can think of is parking. It usually takes us 3-4 times circling around the block to find a spot... but it IS Los Angeles, so what can you do? My bday is coming up and this is definitely the spot that I'll be celebrating at!!!!! Cons: Parking more

Nakkara sets new standards for Thai restaurants in L.A. 1/24/2008

It may not satisfy others? experiences, but my wife and I?ve had the best experiences with this new restaurant. If you are looking for just typical Thai foods and want to spend less than $10 per person, this may not be the place for you. The restaurant offer higher standard than other Thai restaurants we?ve been to. Their menu selections are incredible. I?ve been to this restaurant several times trying their signature dishes like Big Surprise, Crying Tiger, Soft shell Crab Panang, and my favorite Roasted Mandarin Duck. My wife and I love everything we?ve tried so far. We?ve received friendly service since the first time we walk in. Welcome Nakkara to our neighborhood. This is one of my favorite casual dining restaurants in the area. more

best thai in the city 1/24/2008

this little known gem on Beverly boasts some of the best thai in the city. From the friendly staff and owner who explains what region inspired his creation to expertly prepaired dishes like the yellow curry you cant go wrong. Most dishes are around 10 bucks a plate really inexpensive given the quality and presentation. I eat here twice a week. Pros: great food bargin great service fast more

overpriced food 1/23/2008

Over priced food. Dry meat, and seems like they served a left over meat from a day before. They charged me for a bottle of 5 dollars that I didn't ask for. I would expect them to pour me a glass of water. I guess it was their slow night and they tried to make money with every single thing. Bad experience, Bad food and will never go there again. Cons: too overpriced, bad ventilation system, the food quality doesn't reach the price list. more

Nakkara 1/9/2008

I live in the neighbourhood and finally tried this new restaurant. What a horrible dissapointment! We ordered takeout so I can't speak for the decor or service but the food was really not good. The glazed walnut shrimp arrived with one....seriously ONE shrimp and a cluster of sticky cold noodles that looked like they were scraped together from other peoples left overs. My dog didn't even want to taste it and he doesn't discriminate when it comes to food! The pad thai was dry and also stuck together in clumps and completely inedible. The only thing that remotely tasted decent was the spring rolls - thankfully it's hard to mess that up. Overall it was expensive and not good. I will not be going back. Cons: TERRIBLE FOOD! more

Bogus reviews 12/10/2007

I live in the area and have been thinking about trying Nakkara, but after reading all of these clearly fake reviews, I'm totally turned off. Any restaurant worth its salt can stand on its own merits and doesn't need the owner/employees/friends to hype it up with bogus reviews. I think I'll pass. more

Great new Thai restaurant 12/8/2007

We highly recommend this new Thai restaurant on Beverly blvd. We went here based on the prior reviews on citysearch and it definitely lived up to the expectations. Nice atmosphere, new and modern look, great food with wonderful flavors, very friendly service. The menu has great variety. BYOB, no corkage fee. We'll definitely be going back. Pros: great service, great food more

Romantic Thai restaurant!! 11/26/2007

My girlfriend's favorite food is Thai food and I wanted to take her out to a really nice Thai restaurant for our anniversary. I found this restaurant on citysearch and there was this review that said the atmosphere was good. I didn't really trust the review alone since this is a BIG thing for me...my girl would kick my a$$ if I didn't make this good! So I swung by to check the place out and it looked really nice outside and inside so I took her and she LOVED the place. It was really romantic and cozy and the food and service was just perfect. My girlfriend loved the crying tiger dish. I liked the volcano chicken. This is a great place for a romantic dinner date! Pros: My girl said it was the best anniversary yet!! Cons: None at all! more

Very cool Thai restaurant! 11/25/2007

I came across this restaurant as i searched for Thai food and was skeptical about trying it at first because the place is new, but I went yesterday and the food was really good and the service was excellent! I just had to write a review and let people know that I tried it, loved it, and absolutely recommend it! Pros: Nicest service around! Cons: None I can think of more

Great Thai food! 11/21/2007

I found this AWESOME new Thai restaurant called Nakkara on Bevely last weekend when I was at the Grove. We were just driving by when we saw their Grand Opening sign and we were instantly attracted to go in and try. Boy are we glad we did! The food was really good, the service was excellent, and the prices were decent too! But my favorite was their fantastic atmosphere! I was so impressed that I'm going to bring my family again this weekend for Thanksgiving! Pros: Great food, service, and ambience! Cons: No parking, but I just parked at the Grove! so....it's not really a con, huh? more
