Since 1919, the sign says. Hollywood's oldest restaurant, outlasting the other greats like the Derby and Chasens, Musso and Frank hasn't changed much in the last 93 years - except...

This place must survive on nostalgia alone; I wasn't impressed. I was there for a business lunch; the prices are extremely inflated for what you get. The food was so-so as was t...

A Hit-or-Miss Classic 5/13/2002

I've been to Musso & Frank's several times over the years, and it's usually a memorable experience, especially for first-time folks and out-of-town visitors. But it's expensive--almost outrageously so, considering the small portions. And though you'd think this would be a great place for a late-night dinner, every time I've been after 10pm, the food has been overcooked and servers have seemed in a real hurry to clear the place out. That said, the martinis are absolutely worthwhile, and the ambience is authentic old Hollywood. You can almost imagine Raymond Chandler scribbling out a chapter of ""The Big Sleep"" in one of the red-leather booths. Pros: Hollywood classic, Great martini Cons: Brusk service, Mediocre food more

Not All It's Cracked up to Be 5/13/2002

Yes folks, this is the oldest restaurant in Hollywood. And it's amazing how far that statistic takes Musso & Frank because the food is wretched. I ate there only once; that was all I needed. \r \r I ordered a shrimp salad. What I was expecting was lettuce with at least a somewhat generous helping of shrimp on top. What I got was a few pieces of shrimp drowning in mayonnaise. It was awful! My date ordered a pasta dish, which tasted like spaghetti-o's. \r \r I'm convinced you have to know a secret password. Maybe if you do they give you an alternate menu with good food. \r \r The bar, on the other hand, is lovely. They make amazing martinis. Pros: great martinis, old school charm, lots of history Cons: terrible food more
