When we need a day off and don't have a ton of money to spend (when is that not the case??) we love going to the art museum -- we're very blessed to live in this relatively small ...

VMFA is a "Top Ten" Museum 7/23/2010

Wonderful collections of all types. Architecture of new wing is superb. Food in Best Cafe and Amuse Restaurant is as good as any museum I have visited in the US. Musuem is now open at night on Friday as well as Thursday. A great place to visit, particulary on these hot days we've been having. more

My mother in law and I visited the museum when she was here visiting last year and the exhibits there are just as goood if not better than some of the museums from Chicago or anywhere else. more

Great cultural venue 7/30/2002

Hurray for Richmond offering this wonderful collection of art! Every gallery has a wealth of beautiful pieces that one would not expect to find in Richmond. I particularly enjoy the Modern Art Gallery, which is frequently replenished. The museum also houses great performances and events ('Bubbling Brown Sugar', Art After Hours!, Jumpin' ...) My only qualm with the VMFA is the creapy guards that seem to follow us every time we go. No one trusts ""kids these days"". :D Pros: collection, events, no entrance fee Cons: creapy guards more

A reason for Richmond pride 5/16/2002

I love, love, love this museum. There's something so relaxing and indulgent about wandering through the rooms--and the Faberge eggs are amazing. A bonus: the museum's Jumpin music series that takes place in the gardens every summer is a must-see. Pros: Wonderful exhibits more
