Great survice at sunday brunch, great price

Worst

meat not cooked to order; not even sure the combo came with steak as it said. the fries tasted like oil that hadn't been changed in sometime. the lettuce/salad was all warm.

midwest grill rulessss!!!! 11/20/2008

I've been going to Midwest Grill for almost 5 years now. I started off going to the location in Cambridge, then a new one was built on route one and it's alot more convenient for me. My family has had plenty of lunches and dinners at Midwest. The service is great, the people are very outgoing, down to earth and happy. Midwest has a large selection of barbecued meats to choose from. The sirloin steak is very tasteful and tender...reminds me of filet mignon. The servers always ask u exactly how u want it..rare, medium rare, or well. Everything else on the menu is great!...sausage, beef, chicken(wrapped in bacon =). pork, chicken hearts and much more....always served hot which is a plus for me. The atmosphere of the resaturant is very calm and relaxing, unless there brazilian jazz that night. They have singers come in which guitars and drums just to get the full effect of the brazillian culture. I highly recommend making a visit to the midwest bar and grill. Pros: good service, food, prices, atmosphere Cons: sunday lunch is a little noisy..but fun more

All you can eat, cramped seating and noisy 11/4/2007

I usually go to Greenfield at Allston, but since they shut down, I went to this place to check it out. The food is less salty here compared with Greenfield but the quality of the meat from Greenfield is just uncomparable. The meat wasn't tender at all, I had to chew hard on their beef. No skirt steak (the best stuff Greenfield served). No italian sausage, only kielbasa. The beef ribs was also below avg, Greenfield's was much better. Cocktails were OK....service was OK too.\r The best part was the guitarist singer, he was pretty good. The food? I'll pass... more

Great Place 11/2/2007

There are a lot of fans of ""meat"" on here. But anyway...\r It can sometimes be inconsistent at Midwest but my wife and I have been going there for almost 10 years now. And it is most assuredly on target most of the time. To say anyone in that place is rude is crazy, and that they are stingy??...Its all you can eat how can that be stingy??\r One tip is that it is better to go later in the evening when its busier...the meat is coming out quicker and can be a bit better.\r \r hopefully the Saugus location will be a succes for them Pros: friendly, fresh food, low stress Cons: loud, sometimes cramped seating more

If you know meat and flavor - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE... 6/11/2007

After hearing all the hype about Midwest Grill, I went for dinner thinking that it could surely satisfy the carnivorous desires of both my girlfriend and I, but I couldn?t have been more wrong. I should have known immediately from our overly water-downed beers that what was ahead of me was only disappointment. \r While the buffet they offered with the meal was moderately edible, with good plantains and a bean dish that was tasty, the truth is these are only side dishes and not what anyone is shelling out their money for, like you, what interested me about this place was their meat. Of course, if you even have the chance to get some good meat from Midwest Grill, consider yourself lucky because the rude and stern servers going around with the meat skewers rarely came by and when they do, they ration out only the smallest portions. Now, perhaps the servers were doing me a favor and I didn?t know it, but what I do know is that every time I did get meat, it was bland and dry, if barely chewable, which is unacceptable when this is one of the more expensive churrasquerias in Boston. Hoping that it might just be a bad meat skewer that would improve in the next batch, we waited and went through several disappointing rounds but everything atrophied in taste, quality, and quantity with every round. The final straw came in our ""dessert"" options: canned peaches, old watermelon that looked half-chewed, and ice cream, the option that I sadly opted for, but which ended up being spoiled. \r \r Midwest Grill is simply an overrated, expensive embarrassment that should be avoided. In addition, the editorial staff of CitySearch needs to rethink their glowing recommendation of this restaurant, there are better and cheaper locations out there ? learn to differentiate please. \r Pros: Plantains and Bean Dish Cons: Pretty Much Everything - save your money and pepto, go anywhere else... more

Bleh... 6/11/2007

My boyfriend and I are huge fans of meat (and food in general) so we love a good churrascaria! Our favorite is Green Field in Allston, but we'd heard so much about Midwest Grill and were in the Cambridge area last night, so we figured it would be the perfect opportunity to try something new and get our cold beer and hot meat fix. Instead we ended up leaving feeling ill and disappointed.\r Things started off prominisingly enough with a friendly waitress directing us first to the buffet, which looked great and actually boasted a much more appetizing selection than the buffet at Green Field. Unfortunately, when one goes to a churrascaria, the strategy is NOT to fill up on the buffet, but to save plenty of room for the nonstop meat parade, but that's where it all fell apart... \r Given the fact that the servers who come around with the meat look like they would rather be anywhere else, and the fact that it takes a good 5-10 minutes for them to come around with each new offering, you'd think they'd serve you a slice of meat larger than a bite and a half each time.... But since all the meat is dry, chewy, tasteless and overcooked anyway, I'm not sure you would be able to (or want to) stomach more than what they give you in the first place. \r Following several unsuccessful attempts to find at least one skewer of meat that hadn't been practically turned to leather, we gave up and decided to check out the dessert buffet. A good churrascaria shouldn't even leave room for dessert, but we were desperate to get our money's worth and to get the taste of stale meat out of our mouths. From the less than mouthwatering selection of canned pears and pineapple chunks, mushy-looking watermelon, and two flavors of ice cream (chocolate and strawberry) we each loaded up a giant sized dish of strawberry ice cream, only to take one bite and find that it too was past its prime. \r At that point we decided to head home and hopefully ward off the bad dairy demons with a dose of pepto bismol... Pros: good plantains at the buffet Cons: everything else more

DISAPPOINTED 6/9/2007

This is the most expensive but least tasty of the few Brazillian places I've tried. The meat is very bland or chewy or burnt. Service wasn't good. It took 45 minutes to get my magaritas on a slow day; and it tasted very ordinary. The flan and coconut cake was awesome but you gotta pay $5 more each. Try Tera Brasil in Quincy or Ipanema in Natick or Green Field in Alson for better quality and more meat /buffet/dessert selection. Pros: cute brazilian waitresses Cons: service, food , drink more

If you love meat... need I say more? 3/22/2007

Not too much to say about this joint. The food is exceptional, ambiance is fun, everyone working there seems to be enjoying him/herself.\r \r It's the best way to make enemies in the vegan community!! Pros: MEAT MEAT MEAT, ethnic cocktails Cons: snug seating more

I've tasted better meat 3/11/2007

I went there for lunch and the meat was horrible. The buffet was great but the meat was either fatty or chewy. The meat was inedible and I bit into two bones while I was trying to chew through the meat. If you go, just get the buffet. Don't waste your money on the barbecue. Pros: Buffet, live music Cons: Barbecue more

Meat, Meat & More Meat! 8/6/2006

Went with 12 guys that had not eaten all day! - This palce did the job. Can't beat the BBQ here! We all had the meat sweats after but it was well worth it. This palce is a must if your in the mood for BBQ! Pros: Can handle a small to very large group. Price Cons: parking is tough more

Best place ever go every day if you can... 6/21/2006

Fun and Filling Rodizio 3/20/2005

Bring your appetite for this Brazilian BBQ place and you'll find it a fun and worthwhile trip. The barbecue is at the center of it all, with 7 different kinds of meat rolled around to you. The best is the steak and pork, where the spices are really excellent. There are also nice hot and cold buffets with all sorts of Brazilan specialties. A lot of the unique things are the best, so avoid the things you usually see and be open-minded. Dessert disappoints a bit, but it's not likely you'll have room anyhow. It's also a fun place, with live music, and a good place to bring a hungry group (but not a first date). Pros: All-you-can-eat more

Rodizio! 6/26/2004

We just got from there and it was good. The salads were great and so was the meat. Yum! Some foods from the buffet table were quite salty. The desserts were not very nice either. Perhaps it was because there were several unsupervised children making a mess. That ruined the visuals but the flavours wasn't there either. Pros: easy to find, parking, not crowded Cons: , unsupervised children more

Don't be chicken...it's FUN!! 1/3/2004

We've always wanted to try one of these Brazilian/Argentine type restaurants. We weren't disappointed!! We started with the hot/cold buffet. The codfish and potato salad was excellent!! Then the skewers started arriving!! We enjoyed succulent rare roasted lamb flavored by garlic and rosemary. The roasted pork was another favorite. The chicken was kept moist during roasting by a wrapping of bacon. The chicken hearts...oh my...these were a real treat. Tender, yet chewy, with a distinct flavor. We washed it all down with a lovely red wine from Spain that was a perfect accompaniment. Their new dessert bar had a terrific mango ice cream. The night we dined there were noisy families as well as couples and they all seemed to mix well. Pros: Excellent Value!, Unique, Delicious! Cons: None, None, and None more

Good food, fun & original 12/26/2003

I went with my family, and was pleasantly surprised. The food was good (very good for the price, about $21 w/o tip) but I would rec'md it more for it's originality - can't hurt to try once, right? I'm sure it's not as good as the ""real thing"" from foreign countries, but take it for what it's worth and you'll have fun. On a 1-10, I'd give it a 7-8. Pros: All you can eat, Free parking, Fun Cons: All meat more

Not Good 10/29/2003

Most of the meat was overcooked, especially the chicken. The buffett was dissapointing and lacking in flavor. I've had Brazilian bbq in Brazil and at Churascaria Platform in NYC. This place is nothing like the real thing. more

POW!!!!!!!! 1/5/2003

I loved the idea of a bunch of guys passing out meat on huge spears. Each selection was excellent and the salad bar was nice as well. The drinks were also very good and served to us by a gorgeous waitress. There was also live music the added to the ambience very nicely. Would love to go back. The parking is terrible in that area though. Pros: service, food, music Cons: parking, pricey more

The Beefs Here (and Lamb, Pork, Chicken) 9/8/2002

The meats are grilled to perfection. They think Italian Sausage is Portuguese Linguica, but hey, it was good. Nice bi-lingual restaurant. Good atmosphere. Cons: No Parking more
