Lunch was rushed and a bore, so they invited us back for dinner. We should have cut our loses and never gone back because it was more insulting than the first visit/

A great new addition to the University City food scene! 12/10/2009

My meal at Mid Atlantic was really good ... I had one of the best bone-in pork chops of my life and it was complimented with a tasty home-made sauerkraut and apple fritter. The service was fantastic as the server was friendly, polite, very prompt and took the effort to carefully explain the details of some of the entrees. I spoke to some other diners and we all agreed everything tasted fresh and delicious. My only disappointment is that the interior design has a cold industrial feel to it and the chairs were not comfortable. Pros: Delicious food, excellent service Cons: industrial decor not to my liking more

Great food and service!!! 11/27/2009

first off i love the entire idea of the menu. paying homage to the way this area once was is a great idea and it's something few restaurants do. most restaurants usually do what works in the area, daniel stern went the complete opposite way and put a great new twist on some classic recipes. I tried the midatlantic burger which was phenomenal with homemade summer sausage on top and my girlfriend got the roasted chicken and lima bean polenta. Both outstanding. Second, the night we went it was pretty packed so we sat at the bar and jim, who was one of the bartenders, took the time even though he was somewhat busy to explain the theme of the restaurant, recommend and explain items on the menu, explain where to park and all in all just gave us a great time. He made us a few great drinks! Rumspringa and standpipes are a must. Check this place out!!! Pros: Awesome friendly service Cons: little parking out front more

casual yet delicious food in a casual atmosphere 11/24/2009

I didn't know what to expect from food from the MidAtlantic region, but wow, what a pleasant surprise I had - as did my three friends who ate there with me. We tried a bunch of items - the crab scrapple, the clam/oyster stew, the raw bar, the special burger, to name a few - and everything was delicious! Great beer list, too. Can't wait to go back. Oh - and the service was great... Pros: amazing food more

Great food and service - and so reasonably priced! 11/24/2009

Daniel Stern's new, more casual restaurant, with excellent comfort food. A very cool, laid-back atmosphere. We tried the fondue, the crab scrapple, pig wings, and the Farmhouse salad, and all were terrific. Went back for drinks at the bar to watch the game the following night and had some snacks because we just loved the restaurant. Pros: crab scrapple, pig wings... Cons: that it's not in my neighborhood! more

Good food, great service. A bit overpriced 11/21/2009

On a friday night, the service was super friendly, professional and quick. We both got the same fish and it was great! However the price is a bit high! Great place to try. Pros: Food was amazing! Cons: A bit pricey more

Failed Twice for Us 11/20/2009

Soooooooo disappointed!!!!!!!!!! 11/20/2009

Seems everyone from the management team to the dishwasher were at our table but nothing went well. Food was either way too bland or undercooked. \r It was a slow night so Daniel Stern was nowhere to be found which could explain our total dissatisfaction. I can image he will ever be at this out of the way place once his center city hot spot opens. Pros: we did not get sick Cons: just about everything more

great food, great vibe 11/14/2009

Love the place, love the food. I have eaten both lunch and dinner here and have been amazed at each meal. The creativity- a nod to the MidAtlantic region with obvious thought and then expanded by the chef's ingenuity and talent- make this a very welcome addition to the Philadelphia food scene. \r Try the pig's wings (!), rarebit, hot dogs... and anything else on the menu. The corned beef was the absolute best I have ever eaten, and I can say that about the other items I just listed!!\r Also appreciate the ""green"" element of the design. Important. Stunning.\r Can't wait to go back! Pros: The food is just amazing! Creative, inventine, delicious... Cons: Not a single negative. Had several wonderful meals here! more

Best New Place in University City 11/10/2009

I went here for a drink and ended up getting a bunch of food to try which I'm so glad I did! The prices are really reasonable, (they have great happy hour specials for food and drink) and the service was really friendly and fun. I had the pig wings, the Horseradish Chedder dip with housemade pretzel chips and the Farmhouse salad (they make their own sausage which is outrageous). Love this place! Pros: inventive menu, awesome beer list more

Excellent food at very reasonable prices 11/10/2009

This restaurant is such a treat: Daniel Stern food at such non-threatening prices. I didn't know what to expect when I heard he was cooking food from the MidAtlantic region, but it turned out to be just delicious (we tried the fondue, the hot dog, and the Farmhouse salad). I have always been a fan of Chef Stern (since his days at Le Bec-Fin), and I am excited with the new, super-casual version of his restaurants. more

Another Daniel Stern Gem. 11/10/2009

MidAtlantic is typical of a Daniel Stern restaurant, in that the dishes combine flavors beautifully and creatively, and the service is absolutely top-notch - but this time he took such an interesting route with the regionally-inspired cuisine, not to mention with such reasonable (actually, low!) prices. I tried the crab scrapple and the pig wigs, and had the root beer sticky buns for dessert - and everything was absolutely delicious. Very interesting wine/beer list, as well. more

POOR Service! 11/10/2009

like his other failed restaurants this one should not be recommended Cons: scary neighborhood at night more
