I love this place. There's one in Vegas too and they are both the BOMB! Chocolate and sweats everywhere, but also solid food. Last time I was in the server said his favorite item was their burger. I got it. Loved it. And now it's my favorite too. Save room for dessert. more

I went here a couple of time, all the time it was an amazing experience. I love chocolate, I've tried couple of different entrees. The pasta with spinach is good. But this is known for the best dessert place in the city. so you really have to go and try it if you love chocolate and can resist it. The desserts Ive tried are the hazelnut crepe and banana split waffle both of which is wonderful. more

I have made a youtube review video of this place. It wont let me post it here but you can check it on my youtube channel: Rinabrazil88 Or on my Blog: www(period)Marina-Santos(period)com/Blog But below are few of my thoughts on this restaurant: Do you like/love chocolate???? Because if you do you are going to LOVE this place! The name kind of says it all- ""Max Brenner Chocolate"" restaurant. Their menu is great and very innovative. They have incorporated chocolate in foods that you normally wouldn't think of- such as Chocolate pizza and chocolate dusted fries- but everything is AMAZING! The staff was also super friendly. They gave us suggestions about their favorite dishes and they were extremely nice when we asked to shoot inside of the restaurant. If you are a chocolate lover you MUST go to Max Brenner Chocolate restaurant, you are going to feel like you are in the movie ""Charlie and the Chocolate Factory""! xoxo Marina Santos more

Horrible experience 4/3/2012

My worst experience at a New York restaurant. I have been to Max Brenner twice. The first time we were greeted by some not so friendly or interested hostesses. That was fine, we only had to put up with that for a short while. Once we were seated, we ordered, enjoyed the food and waited the usual 10 minutes for the waiter to even look in our direction so we could pay. Our second experience was not so delightful. Same snobby hostesses who were tolerable, nothing new. The waiter, Matthew, was initially very attentive and friendly. We were very impressed. Unfortunately once we received our food, which was very quick, the small flame which was prepared gradually grew into a large flame and one of my friends got burnt and knocked over hot syrup onto another friend. There was a big crash which turned into a mess. Not a single waiter or waitress bothered coming to see if everything was okay. Other patrons nearby kindly gave us their napkins and asked if everything was okay. We waited 15 minutes while our waiter flirted with the waitresses and every other waiter blindly ignored us as we tried to hail one down to get the bill and leave. Eventually we had had enough and went to the hostess to request our bill. She was just as warm as when we first arrived.... we waited another 10 minutes while another waiter tried to locate our waiter before we could settle. We will never return to Max Brenner. It is a lovely place, but not worth dealing with such incompetent or inconsiderate staff. more

Chocolate! 12/25/2011

It's absolutely delicious! It's kind of expensive, but I'd say, why not indulge a little once in a while? haha. The place was like a chocolate factory, which is probably obvious given it's known for its chocolates XD It's great and addicting! Definitely give it a go! more

OBSESSED WITH THE COOKIE SHAKE! 7/21/2011

Got out of work early yesterday and was totally craving chocolate. No better place than Max Brenner. Such a fun atmosphere where everyone is happy for the obvious reason: they are eating chocolate. So I thought that it would be fairly quiet at 5:15 given that it is the summer time, but I was totally wrong. The place was jammed packed. I was expecting all dessert options, but was surprised to see that they have a fairly large menu. I ordered the veggie conscious burger with mushrooms and was pleasantly surprised. The waffle fries were awesome, they were dusted in chili powder and what looked like chocolate powder. So yummy. I had the Cookie Shake and all I can say is OMG! That was the highlight of my day. I finished up my meal with a chocolate cookie. I couldn't resist it. Not too adventurous yesterday, but totally satiated. more

Imagine dying and going to Chocolate Heavan 6/17/2011

Me and my friends went NUTS they had chocolate covered in chocolate smothered in chocolate and then dipped in chocolate sprinkled with chocolate and on the side. CHOCOLATE. I had a freaking chocolate martini. How do you make alcohol with chocolate? That's nuts. more

Savory foods ok, dessert heaven 3/4/2011

The place was packed for dinner last night. We were seated on the upper level. Tables were more cramped up there and it was definitely warmer up the second level. Too warm, at times. I ordered the pasta la mancha, which had a spicey kick to it. To drink, I tried the butterscotch milk shake in the Alice cup (too sweet). A friend and I split the classic European fondue. It wasn't a lot of food but it was definitely filling. I would go back again. Hopefully, we don't get seated upstairs! more

Good food, mediocre service 1/25/2011

The place was so hyped up that I had to drop by while I was in Union Square. On weekends, it is completely packed and you have to wait a while to be seated. Me and my husband were seated at a small booth that could hardly hold two plates! But perhaps this was because of the rush hour schedule. The regular food was good, notably the burger, but nothing too spectacular. The chocolate was a little bit too sweet and overwhelming for me but my husband loved it. Overall, a satisfactory experience. Not too spectacular but still worth the while. more

My chocolate love!!!!! 8/23/2010

If you really wanna get a good dose of chocolate - it's a right place for you!!! You can either buy small pieces of diff kinds of choco candy or you can take your time, relax and try anything from the menu that is related to chocolate ( there is no point to go for lunch to a chocolateplace). more

chocolate heaven 3/29/2010

I like there the chocolate pizza, the crapes and the fondue. I am sure that everything else there is just amazing but there is so much dessert and so little stomach space :))) Love this place and I am very sad that they closed the location in my favorite neighborhood in St.Marks Place :( It was a great place for people watching and stuff but hey there is always this one and the one at Union Sq. Highly recommended for desserts! Pros: everything! more

Chocoholic Heaven! 2/11/2010

This is true chocoholic heaven! Aside from the obvious nutella crepes, brazilian mocha martinis, and hot chocolates, you can still get your chocolate fix through the most unsuspecting food items. Be sure to try the waffle fries dusted with chili and cocoa power, as well as the beer battered onion rings with dark chocolate ranch dressing! The creative plating makes each dish a surprise, and keeps me coming back. Pros: Chocolate is incorporated into almost everything Cons: Some tables are very close together more

My hips are expanding! 1/31/2010

My boyfriend took me here for our ""date night."" He got a big kiss for it. The environment is fantastic and interesting and of course, the chocolate. I had the banana split latte...mmmmmm, so good! And the real food is great too. I had a burger and he had a quesedilla, both very good and very filling. The wait staff is nice but not very attentive and we were packed in there like pickles! But, that's every place in NYC for you. Pros: Choc-O-late! Cons: Crowded more

Chocolate Lovers Unite 1/27/2010

I absolutely love this place. I have been here at least 5 times, if not more. Personally, I've never had a bad experience. My dad had a burger there and they put cheese on it when he asked for no cheese and they took it right back and made him a brand new burger. The server was very nice about it. So it really wasn't a problem. I love the decor, the smell, the food (dinner dishes or dessert) - both are great! My only con is the tight seating but I've had many birthdays here and will continue to do so. Pros: Everything! Cons: Tight seating more
