do not shop here 9/5/2008

I recently purchased home office furniture -- a complete set with computer credenza/hutch, lateral file cabinet and also a bookcase. I was told by the salesman that MB had everything in stock, but that there was only one bookcase, so I secured my purchases and set up a delivery time. When the deliverymen came, they had everything but the bookcase -- it wasn't even listed on their order sheet. So, I call up MB and am told that they do not have this item -- not in any store (even though someone in OKC customer service told the lead deliveryman that Tulsa had some, and I know this because he nodded his head and said, ""They just told me there are four in Tulsa."") -- and that it has been discontinued, which is false because I checked with other area stores about this and they said the collection, including the bookcase, is not being discontinued. more

Ripoff Continues--But at least they admit it 7/25/2008

Mathis Brothers responded to the complaint. Below is their response: Pros: Lots of furniture Cons: Cant get any undamaged more

Mathis brothers stinks 7/12/2008

We bought and paid for furniture on April 20, 2008. The table and chairs were to arrive in 3 weeks, the china hutch and buffet were to arrive July 5. No table and chairs in 3 weeks, their answer was that it had to come all at once. July 5 came and went. New delivery date was today July 12. What showed up at my door was 2 chairs and the table. Still missing was 6 chairs, china cabinet and buffet. We didn't sign for a partial order and getting help from customer service is impossible. At least writing this complaint is something to do while on hold waiting for customer service. Cons: Customer service. more

help fight Mathis Brothers Furniture 6/24/2008

Dear Consumer,\r \r I am writing this invitation to all that have endured the painful experience of dealing with \r Mathis Brothers Furniture (MBF) customer service. \r I too have had a horrible experience and I have found that we are at their mercy. We need to join together in an effort to bring light to this injustice and hold MBF accountable to their actions. \r I purchased a sleeper sofa on March 17th of 2008 and it is now Jun 24th of 2008 and they have just rescheduled the delivery date for the 4th time and its now Jun 30th! How can they expect me to trust them?. It?s worth mentioning that they have never attempted to contact me to let me know the item was not arriving on time, I have had to make contact with them every time. Also, carless attitude in which they deliver the news is offensive, like a slap in the face. Not only are they not interested in keeping you as a customer but they disrespect you with their carefree way of handling your call. As if they are doing you a favor in more

Terrible Customer Service 6/17/2008

So far a horrible experience. Wrong furniture delivered on the first delivery date. Then, on second delivery 5 days later, and this only happened after too much time spent on the phone speaking with customer service representives from both the Ontario CA. and the Oklahoma offices. It is now day 11 and I am still waiting for a resolve to my problem. I have furniture sitting in my dining room that is not installed correctly. The installation people went as far as telling me that my floor is not level. I called to have furniture fixed, only to have a representative call back, leave a confusing message, now I don't know if they are coming to make said repairs. I now consider myself a customer no more with Mathis Brothers. Furniture buying is not supposed to be this hard, Cons: A BIG Thumbs Down more

mathis Brothers Furniture 4/10/2008

My furniture was returned for a warramty repairs, after a week they called me at 8.00am and said your funiture is ready but can not be delivered today. i called them back and talk to a manager and say is earl and fortunately we are home today and we also pay for delivery. She snap and say you only pay 5 dollars. i offered to pay the value of the funiture if possible just to get them delivered today. Then she hang up on me. Cons: customer service and everything more

Great Furniture 3/17/2008

I purchased a queen bed and matress from Mathis Bros approx 13 years ago and love it. It was a great experience then w/the purchase and a great product. Lines were a bit long, but I was probably there on a weekend. We are now looking for a King matress set and so far have had a great experience w/them. They have lots of items available and I would recommend them. more

Never again!! 2/15/2008

I purchased a bedroom set (for my 11 year old son) a coffee table and end tables, spending over $1,000. Everything was fine at first, the sales lady, although, hard to understand, was very kind and prefessional. I purchased the furniture on a Sunday, and they were suppose to deliver on the following Tuesday. I was told to call a specific number on Monday after 3 to find out what time Tuesday they would be there. I had made sure to tell them that (like most people) I work from 8am to 5pm, and that there would be no one there to accept the furniture until after 5. So when I called on Monday after 3pm, they (apparently didn't understand what I had meant, when I told them about my work hours or maybe they didn't care) had scheduled me for a 1pm to 3pm drop off. I immediately called the customer service line, and explained the situation to the ""customer service"" rep, and she said she would put a memo on my invoice for the delivery company that I would not be there till after 5pm. She then told me that the next time they could deliver would be on Thursday, and that I would need to call the ""specific number"" AGAIN, after 3pm on Wednesday. I was convinced that my problem was solved, until...... I called on Wednesday. They had then, scheduled me for a 12pm to 2pm delivery (which is of course and hour earlier than my previous one) so I then proceeded to call, once again, the customer service line, where they told me that the woman I spoke with earlier was wrong for telling me that she could put a memo on the invoice, cause they can't do that. Basically the delivery company that actually delivers the furniture is contracted through Mathis Brothers, so they can't insure ANY delivery times to anyone...unless you want to pay an extra $25.00 and then they will deliver it after a certain time. I finally just canceled my order and am now just wanting for the money to appear in my bank account. I will keep you posted on how painful THIS process will be! Cons: Everything more

AWEFUL Customer Service and just AWEFUL to deal with.. a real nightmere!! 2/15/2008

My Grandparents moved here to live near us from California. They had never bought anything new their whole lives, but because of the difference in living costs from CA to OK they were building a brand new home over-looking a lake and getting all NEW furniture to go into their new home. We shopped around alot and thought Mathis Brothers had the best furniture and a great sales staff. My grandparents ended up spending over $10,000 worth of furniture. That was 5months ago and it has been a night mere ever since. We had the Furniture delivered to their house. The first problem is that the dining room chairs had un-even legs so they wobbled. Then it took them 3 trips (a total of 3weeks) to get chairs that didn't wobble. Then their brand new big screen TV didn't work. We figured out it seemed like the bulb had been broke in the delivery process. Mathis brothers said NO returns for any reason on ANY electronics (of course we weren't told about that when we bought it) and they made us deal with Sony to get a new lamp shipped out which also took several weeks. Then the couch already started tearing and its only my grandparents in the house. Its not like its had much use at all. They said they would look at it but we had to pay for pickup and delivery. Mathis brothers apparently had ""fixed"" it and it has been 5weeks and we still don't have the couch back. They only deliver out here once a week. The first truck called the wrong phone number to try to get directions and then once my grandma finally got a hold of him he was in Prague and wouldn't come back. Then he ""forgot"" to put it on the next weeks truck. And now they won't deliver it for another week because they only come to our area once a week. It was their mistake to start with they need to just get them their couch back. 5weeks and still NO couch! And the couch shouldn't have been tearing already anyways. TERRIBLE COMPANY! Their commercials are SO mis-leading with a guy on there with his family! THEY DON'T care!! Pros: They had a GREAT sales guy, Cory, but he represents a terrible company that doesn't stand behind anything they sell. Cons: Turned out to be terrible furniture, the WORST costomer service I have ever expreinced, and the took advatage of my grandparents. more

Horrible Customer Service - I will NEVER buy from here again! 1/2/2008

If took me three years to buy from Mathis Brothers again after several bad experiences. I kept thinking they would improve. They haven't, and this last experience is the straw that broke the camel's back. After purchasing a $2,000 mattress set on a Sunday and guaranteed next day delivery (that we paid for) - we got the run around, and needless to say, four days later we still do not have our mattresses and they are saying it could be another week. They say anything to get your money and then turn around and do whatever they want with awful customer service. I actually felt sorry for the salesperson because he tried - but "the big dogs" offer no solution. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE!! It is worth any extra money you pay to shop and buy at individually owned furniture and mattress stores to get more personal service. more

Mathis Brothers Furniture/Okc 11/23/2007

A few years back I bought a sectional sofa at Mathis Brothers. I had to have it recovered because they didn't carry the color I wanted. The sales lady helped me pick out the fabric. She was very helpful and said that the fabric was very durable and cleanable. When it was delivered, it was already ripping at the seams and there was a big rip in the back. I called to have them come and pick it up so I could choose another fabric. Finally, I had to settle on leather. It cost almost $5000 after it was all over. We had the sofa for about a month or so when the recliners on both ends of the couch started coming loose from the piece it was connected to. When I went back to the store to explain the problem (I had insured the sofa) they were very rude and told me that there was nothing they could do. When I finally got just as rude back and told them that I wanted to talk to one of the owners, they did give me the cost of the leather back (well, a store credit as if I wanted to deal with them again) but I never did get the cost of the couch back. So I lost almost $3000 in the deal. more

Rude employees, CHEAPLY made furniture, ZERO help! 10/15/2007

This has got to be the WORST furniture outfit in the USA! We bought beds for our kids. They broke ina week. (Kids gentle, only slept on them.) Parts fell off, canopy broke off..metal..and nearly clipped my 5 yr old's head. I was upset. Call them. NO ONE returned my calls. Took 2 months and a call to the owner himself to get different furniture. Roger Mathis himself told me "you get what you pay for. metal beds don't last." Well, you would think they would last for more than a month! Then, traded for metal headboards which have been OK. Brought our a broken entertainment center, then LEFT it sitting in my living room, leaning for 2 days! THEN, delivered a scratched center! Finance "manager" WANDA calls me daily, wants their money ($25.00 a month) I keep saying FIX what you should. Wanda said, "Well, you bought the crap, so you have to pay for it!" Completely rude and unprofessional! Well, they sued us. (Because we were 2 months ...50 bucks...behind) She was mad because I called the owne more

TERRIBLE customer service and Hope you have a repair kit on hand!! 5/29/2007

Horrible! I would NEVER shop with these people again! They own several furniture stores in the OKC area and delivered trash. I called, couldn't get ahold of them. When I did, I told a woman in the finance dept. that I got cr@p and she (Wanda, she said her name was) told me ""Well, you BOUGHT their cr@p!"" NICE JOB! Wonder how much they would have sold if I had repeated tahat conversation loudly on the salesroom floor! Not much, I am guessing. Finally, after 2 months of garbage, I was able to swap furniture only to have damaged stuff delivered. The delivery people cliamed they didn't ""see"" the HUGE piece that chipped off..right in front of your eyes. UNbelieveable! Then, again, redelivered a different piece that was damaged. Tried to call them twice, no returned phone call. I gave up. And, I warn EVERYONE not to purchase from ANY Mathis Brothers store. Pros: NOTHING Cons: Horrible C?S and merchandise is LOW, LOW quality. more

Take your business else where! 4/8/2007

Spent over $2,000 on a matress set. The saleswoman stated that since my husband was unable to be there, that we had a 14 day period that if he didn't like the bed we could swap it out. I agreed and went ahead and purchased the matress set. It was delivered and they did not bring all the necessary parts to properly set it up. I read over the warrenty information and it clearly stated I needed these parts in order for my warrenty to be in effect. The first delivery guys didn't have a clue on what they were doing and just said they are contracted to deliver for Mathis Brothers and they weren't furniture experts. I decided to wait and contact Mathis Brothers and explain that what I needed. I contacted the saleswoman that I purchased it from, she was very rude and acted like she didn't want to talk to me at that time. I then insisted that I get this taken care of so she said that she would. I waited several more days and another truck showed up, again not the right parts to fix my problem. I contacted her again and this time she referred me to her manager. This manager was extremely rude and said it wasn't his problem. I decided to go up to the store personally. I spoke to this same manager and again was treated poorly. I never raised my voice or cursed at him. After several minutes of discussion he said he couldn't do any more for me and wasn't his problem any more. I insisted that he make it right and he threatened me that if I didn't leave him alone he would call the police. This really upset me and I attempted to get my point across. He became verbally abusive towards me, saying I was a lunatic and the police were on the way. I chose to stop it there and leave the store. While leaving I noticed I was being followed by two employees, I got into my car and noticed that they were writing down my lisence plate number. I stopped and asked them what they thought they were doing and one replied that it was to give to the police and not to come back. Cons: Poor customer service, managers think they are above everyone. more

Shop competitors if you have the opportunity - customer service is bad. 10/3/2006

We recently purchased a king sized bed from Mathis Brothers and when they arrived to deliver it we were told that they did not have hardware for it so we would have to wait until someone come the next day to put it together. Then later that same day, we received a phone call from someone with Mathis Brothers confirming what we needed on our order, after confirming they told us that someone would call us the next day and come back out to put it together. The next day came and finally later in the afternoon we called to find out that we were not on the delivery list and we would have to reschedule. The warehouse manager was not helpful and very aloof to our problem. Later he called us back to tell us that they had no hardware in stock and would have to order it from the manufacturer. Two days later we called to find out status and found out that they had closed our order out saying we swapped it for a like item - so after explaining everything that had happened up to that point - found out that the order was not put in for it and they could not guarantee that we would ever get hardware. We still have a bed in pieces in our bedroom trying to work with Mathis Brothers on the issue and can not get help from anyone there. They do not call us and we are left to try and find out what is going on by repeatidly calling back and talking to numerous people. We have been very dissatisfied and will shop in the future at neighboring competitors. Pros: Large assortment of furniture Cons: Bad customer service, people do not have a clue as to their stock, hard to work with more

waiting time to pick up furniture 2/23/2006

If you don't want to wait for delivery (only 1 day a week to my area and I would have had to take off work) be prepared to wait up to 2 hours to pick up 1 piece of furniture. Here is the process: you wait in line to pay then you go to a customer waiting area and wait for your name to appear on a monitor then you go get the car and wait in line to pick up at one of many doors. There has just got to be a better way. Cons: parking, pick up more

Love it! 11/12/2005

Quality furniture and an wide selection to choose from. Workers always available and willing to help. Good prices too, although checkout can sometimes be a little long, especially on the weekend. Kids are welcome, and even have their own play area. Convenient location, although parking lot could be made bigger. more

If you can't find it here... 11/3/2005

A furniture store probably doesn't carry it! Mathis Brothers has EVERYTHING! It is an absolutely huge store, and they offer everything from cheap furniture, to Ralph Lauren designer! Also, there is never a lack of sales associates ready to help! In fact, sometimes it seems like you get attacked when you walk in the door! They carry the normal furniture that you would expect, but also have many accent pieces to help you get the look you want. Their prices are great, and it's difficult for other stores to match. Their system is well organized, where you shop and pay in the store, and then they have a computer call-up system that tells you when they're ready to load your items. They offer a snack bar and cafe in-store for while you wait. The only drawback is that it's such a large store, it can be difficult to find the area you're looking for. Don't worry, though, someone will be ready to help! PROS: great selection and prices CONS: a little too big, and commission-hungry associ more

Must see 10/27/2005

This store is a must see. It has a variety of furniture, and the price is good also. The delivery is on time, and professional. The replacement for any damage is very easy, and they will send the replacement to your home. If you have the furniture for a while and a small piece is broken, you can get a new piece easily. more
