Mastercuts

The minute I walked in i was greeted with a smile warmly right away!! I did not have to wait and my stylist Dee , Seemed really excited to be meeting me and doing my hair. I had come in there for a bleach and tone . My entire experience at Master cuts was awesome !! She suggested a different tone that help get out the brassiness . And it worked !! She did not pressure me with any hard sales.. But make sure that my hair left feeling better than when I came in And looking better 100%!! I will go back to Master cuts absolutely!! Maybe in the past people have had bad experiences there. But I can tell you the entire staff working there now is a great team and I enjoyed being there and I would recommend anyone going there to get their hair done !! more

The staff was super warm, and extremely helpful. Crystal (the adorably friendly blond) was my hairstylist for a desperately needed cut back in September. Let me preface this by saying I'm a huge pain when it comes to styling my hair: I have LONG frizzy hair that varies from loose waves to wacky curls and I insist on straightening or hot rolling it when I have the time but I desire a cut where I can just wash and run out the door. Really tough to style since layers give my curls their bounce but can look kind of coarse when styled straight (or at least when I try to.) I told Crystal that I wanted a low-maintenance style that would keep my styled curls from falling flat (my hair is long and heavy) but could also look good straight, suit my face and would keep from fluffing up when I decided to go au natural. WOW, did she deliver! She gave me a fantastic cut full of layers, without sacrificing too much length and 4 months later, my hair still looks great! I don't spend nearly as much time styling (or trying to) as I used to, most days I just flip my head over and blast with a dryer til dry, brush and I'm done. I don't even have to brush *while* I dry. My hair looks healthy, manageable and when I do go au natural, my curls have definition and less frizz-aura. Everyone compliments me on my hair, even on my bum-days. Best of all, my wash, cut and blow cost me only $25 before tip. If I tried to get a cut that good in my hometown, I'd spend in the 65+ range. Next time I'm in MSP, I'm going straight to Crystal! more

You know what I hate? A stylist that looks at the picture you bring in, says they understand what you want and then proceed to do a completely different haircut than what you asked for. I wanted a layered bob - isn't that haircutting 101? And that was pretty much the haircut I came in with - I wasn't even asking for a big change! Not only is my hair way too short to be called a bob, it's cut so poorly! Uneven, and there's a big chunk cut out of the side! That'll be fun to grow out. I'm such a dope, why did I think one of these ""get em in - get em out"" chains would care what I want? more

This place is ABSOLUTELY horrible. The service is terrible and all the stylists here are not only bad at what they do but extremely incompetent. I've been layering my hair since I was 12 with several stylists in California. As I recall, the typical way a stylist would layer one's hair (especially when one's hair is very long) is by sectioning off parts of the hair with clips so that they can cut the hair neatly and with detail. With hair as long as mine, it usually takes half an hour to cut my hair. Normally, I would never get my hair at Mastercuts but decided on a whim that I would give the shop a chance. Boy was I wrong. My hair was completely butchered. The stylist there only took 10-12 minutes max on my hair and cut my very long hair by taking strands of hair on a whim to cut. Every minute, she had automated ""oh isn't that cute"" comments, that of which I was polite and nodded so as not to hurt her feelings. After I was done, I was pretty much traumatized. Ten minutes later, when looking into a mirror, I realized that one side of my hair was layered and the other side completely NOT layered. By this time, Mastercuts had closed. It gets worst... I call the manager the next day who was nice to me. Her name is ABBY. She said they would take a look at my hair and see if they could give me a discount. I explicitly told her that I would not want someone else fixing my hair since I didn't want it butchered even more. She said to just go ahead and come see her in the store and that she could see what she could do. After my long day of work, I take an hour long ride on the light rail to Mastercuts only to be met by extremely rude and EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL stylists. The stylist didn't even let me see Abby and claimed that my hair was even. She then proceeded to part my hair in a way I NEVER part it (in a strange zigzag fashion) and claimed that it was even. She then said that she would even out the layers for me (THUS, PROVING THAT MY HAIR WAS UNEVEN). I refused and said I wanted a discount. She began being very rude with me. Honestly, I think this Mastercuts is PREJUDICED because a customer in the store saw me a little later in the mall and told me the stylists were talking nastily about me and making derogatory comments. Unprofessional--not to mention that no one should be supporting a prejudiced shop! I had to leave the store furious and outraged that no one was providing me with the help I deserved. It was clear my hair was uneven and they were just trying to cover their asses. I highly discourage anyone from coming to Mastercuts Mall of America. The woman who had cut my hair the first time mentioned that the store had been very slow and low in numbers lately. No wonder--they butcher peoples' haircuts and are TERRIBLY RUDE.
