Why bother 2/11/2010

When I met with my tenant and was told that the broiler did not work I thought that this would be an easy fix. 1. Call the manufacturer. 2. Get repairman there and have it fixed for free as it was still under warranty. Well I called the manufacturer, was given Mars Appliance Service as a reference and contacted them. That was easy. I requested that they contact me before they arrived which they did. So far so good. I met with the repairman, Leo Y. (who gave me his card) and his associate. Not Bad. They attempt to diagnose the problem by taking the inside of the broiler apart. They talk about it for a minute and decide that they will have to move the oven away from the wall. OK Well this is where is starts. Being concerned that when they move the over out, they would scratch the floor, I asked them ?could you be careful so you do not scratch the floor?? Leo tells me that they will not move the oven and that I needed to do it. WTF is that about? Here I am making a simple request for them to be careful and now they will not move the stove. If fixing it requires them to move it; then move it. Is asking them to be careful such a huge request? Is this something out of the ordinary? Wouldn?t most people be concern about this? Shouldn?t they be prepared to move an oven and have the proper equipment there to protect someone else?s proper? They are two large men, and I?m sure that it?s not that difficult to move a stove. Even if a client ask for you to be careful how do they get off tell me that I have to move it? I told them that it?s not my job and that?s why there were called; to fix the broiler. If they were not willing to move it while being careful then they could leave. They reassembled the broiler, less one dropped screw and left. Wow so much for an easy fix. I contacted the manufacturer and placed a complaint with them and was given another repair company?s number. I hope this is the easy fix I was looking for. I know that there are many other company?s out there and I hope they, as well as Mars, read this as feed back of what customers think and use this as a tool to increase their level of service. I have dealt with many Service Repair Company?s and have to say that Mar Appliance Service is an example what customer service should not be. Pros: on time Cons: everything else more

Terrible service! 12/10/2008

Terrible service. My oven's electronic controls were acting up intermittently, turning off the oven in the middle of baking. etc. I explained all this to Claudia, but none of this was passed along to Gregory, the service tech. At the time of his visit, the oven was working. I re-explained the problem was intermittent and since it was under warranty I wanted the controls replaced. He said he would order them and come back. Two months of waiting and NOTHING!!!! Finally I call and talk to Gregory. He says, since it was working at the time he DECIDED not to bother ordering the parts. Two months of wasted time! And they never bothered calling me back. Not recommended! Cons: Never call back. No follow-ups. more

Absolutely Fantastic 10/24/2008

These guys are awesome. The lady I spoke to on the phone was patient and polite even though I called in rather late with an anxious tone. She sent out a tech that same day. He showed up prompt for an evening appointment that I had made for 4-6. He was there at 4:30 on the dot. Lucky for me he had the parts on hand to fix my leaky bosch dishwasher. I would recommend these guys to all my friends. Thanks Mars you truly saved my friday night and weekend. Pros: Honest more

Utter Lack of Follow-up! 6/5/2008

Although the initial response was timely, the repair was not completed. A part was replaced, but the dryer is not drying. SInce this was a referral by our landlord covered by their homeowners, we have no choice. We paid the deductable. Now it's been three weeks, and I can't get Claudia to call me back of schedule an appointment. more

Fabulous repair service on any home appliance 2/23/2008

This is a family business. They do not advertise, because word of mouth has given them more business than they can handle. If you are new to them, be patient as they may not call back on your first try......but the wait is worth it. Pros: Fast, honest and friendly Cons: non more

Horrible... horrible... the worst of all 1/12/2008

Never use Mars Appliance ! They were assigned to me by Lowes, and never called back! Finally, a week later they called me and stated ""You know, we called you, you called us - let's make an appointment"", I When I replied - ""sorry, but I do not think that you ever called me - they said "" WE WILL NOT SERVE YOU. Bye"" more

On the ball and to the point a great appliance service company 12/3/2007

I found Mars Appliance to be punctual and efficient. Ther repaired 2 appliances for me in one visit. Overall I was very happy with their professional service. more

waste of time 7/31/2007

I agree with the ""Lost in Space"" review. Months of no follow-through, while the warranty slowly elapses. Also, weak technical knowledge: Gregory couldn't understand the machine's display, wanted to replace the wrong part (LG explained what needed to be replaced), and failed to schedule an appointment to replace the right part. If you need a repair done correctly, and within a year or so, don't waste your time going to Mars. Pros: none so far Cons: wasted months due to weak technical knowledge, failure to order parts, failure to schedule a visit more

Lost in Space 4/15/2007

When my lovely new Siemens clothes dryer decided to shed some of its plastic door last fall (2006), a call to the Siemens folks put me in touch with the guys of Mars Appliance. On the plus side, the guy who came out to look at the dryer wasn't creepy at all. Quite nice in fact. But the company seems to have a problem with follow through. Several calls, and many months later, still nothing. I leave messages with real people who probably have the ability to write, but nothing. Never a single call back. So, while I can't say much about the quality of their work (unfortunately), I can say that it's probably a big waste of time to call these guys for a repair. more
