Best Lebanese food! 8/15/2008

A bit expensive ($48 for two appetizers, one entree, and non-alcoholic drinks), but the food was absolutely delicious! The hommos b-tehiney & falafel (the best I've ever had), the Bastourma (or Armenian salami - tasty), and the beef shawarma were all very, very good. The Jillab was excellent, service was courteous and attentive, and the warm atmosphere was conducive to conversation. This restaurant deserves 5 stars! Pros: The food! Cons: A bit pricey. more

A little pricy ($40 a person) but an absolute feast. Food is spectular. 3/5/2008

The best Lebanese restaurant many years ago in Beirut (it was told to me) was named Maroush. Since then Maroush's all over the world in have sprung up in homage to the original. (There is a change of 11 in London alone) \r \r Like Beirut, London, and seemingly everywhere else Marouch seems to be the best Lebanese food in Los Angeles. While it's a little pricey at around $40 a person the meal is an absolute feast. The grilled meats are spectacular, the hummus is great, but above all the simple yet shockingly good fried Halloum is the ""must order"" on the menu. Pros: Total Feast! Cons: Location more

Fantastic 11/8/2007

Fantastic, FANTASTIC!!!!!! Never been disappointed by this place. Service has been A++ and the service waits on our table hand and foot. My lebanese boss states that this place is the closest thing to his mom's cooking.... and the price is afordable.\r \r Pros: Best food when you want a spicy, ethnic lunch. Cons: neighborhood more

Kind, kind restaurant 3/20/2007

Wow! So, we thought we were going to have about fifteen in our party, but ended up having eight reserved and four show up. They at first told us over the phone that we had to be seated when our whole party showed, but with the amount of people who showed, they totally seated us with eight people ... when there was only one who showed in the beginning. They were kind and courteous, and they really waited on us hand and foot. Thank you Marouch! Pros: Service, atmosphere inside the restaurant Cons: Neighborhood, more

Great Food But HORRIBLE SERVICE!! 2/22/2007

We have been going to this restaurant for years now because of how GREAT their food is. Each visit we spend no less than $120! Mr. Owner & The Waiters got upset because there was no EXTRA TIP left when we finished, but all the GRATUITY had already been added to the bill! They are not as friendly as they used to be! I think since he's a big shot now he has the luxury of being rude to his good customers! They also refused our business on Valentine's Day, considering their restaurant was EMPTY!!! They tried claiming the restaurant was FULL!!! What time were these people going to show up?? There were two couples dining in there!! They practically pushed us out the door!! They've become VERY RUDE & DISCRIMINATING!! I love their food, but the HORRIBLE SERVICE just makes it Not Worth Going To!! Our Family WILL NEVER BE DINING THERE AGAIN!!! Pros: GREAT FOOD! Cons: Discriminating & Horrible Service!! more

cheese turnover is great 11/4/2006

this nondescript place in a shady looking strip mall is great. i love the cheese turnover, the hummus and the falafel. the chicken shwarma and the ground chicken are also great. the rice is very tasty. i would definitely go back. by the way, the lebanese red wine (forgot the name), is also very good - that is, if you like wine that is not too tannic. i would definitely go back. Pros: cheese turnover Cons: parking could be difficult more

great middle eastern, lebanese 9/26/2006

we went there for lunch, were basically the only customers in the restaurant, so we had excellent service. the food is really good too. and another plus for this restaurant is the price! Cons: parking more

Fantastic Lebanese food 6/28/2006

I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. The labneh is absolutely delicious, as are the kibbeh nayyeh and the shish kabobs. The owner is very nice and the belly dancers are quite entertaining. My Iraqi boyfriend loves the food too...One of my favorite restaurants in LA. Pros: service is generally great, ambience ok more

The best 4/27/2006

Over the eight years I've lived in LA, and Marouch is the best restaurant I've come across. There is fancier food, but I'm certain you can't beat the value here. Make sure you try the foul and the walnut-paste dip thing. Order anything off the left side of the menu, actually. Great for vegetarians. more

Wonderful for lunch 8/4/2005

Great food, great service, nice atmosphere. one of the best kept secrets in hollywood. Pros: food, service more

Excellent 3/2/2005

The food is cheap and terrific. Best babajanouch (sp?) ever in the world. You MUST try the cheese turnovers (berek fatayer). They are the most delicious crispy cheesy goodness invented by man. Also, the backlavah is yummy. Pinenut sausages are yummy. Cheese ball is yummy. Stay away, however, from the lamb. I don't like the lamb. But maybe you like lamb, and it's just me. The owner and wait staff are very friendly and love motorcyclists. Pros: Food, Price, Ambiance Cons: Lamb more

Delicious Meditteranean 2/6/2005

Went there for a 12 person birthday party, and the food and service was excellent. Marouch has the best dolmas I've ever had - the grape leaves were not bitter and the rice was perfect. The hummus has an interesting smoky tang, and the tabouli is first rate. It is an unexpected oasis in an east side strip mall - the ambience is just as wonderful as the food. Pros: Food, Atmosphere Cons: Parking, Strip Mall more

Great food and ambience 8/17/2004

The taste is amazing, it's got a nice alcohol flavor to it. They cook with a huge clay style stove. It's very good, the beef flavor's got some sweet wine taste to it. One of the good ones! Pros: food, price Cons: , parking more

Highly Recommend 6/1/2004

When I first drove to this place, I was a little skeptical. That all changed as soon as we were served. The food is authentic and the service is warm and welcoming. If you are stumpped on what to order, get the meza. It is a tasting of the menu and leaves you very satisfied. If you make reservations, I recommend ordering the chicken (you have to order in advance). Pros: excellent food, great value more

Delicious 6/23/2003

It's hard to find and hard to park but it is well worth the effort. Owner Serj and company make you feel right at home with good old fashioned Middle-Eastern delights. All the food is made fresh to order. Try the yogurt chicken or the mixed grill ( two skewers each of filet mignon, lamb and chicken). The meze (appetizers) for 2,4,or 6 gives you a little bit of everything. I can't say enough about this place. The prices are very reasonable too by Hollywood standards. For dessert try the pudding. After 20 years, Marouch is still Hollywood's best kept secret and the best Middle-Eastern Cusine in Los Angeles. Pros: Food, Hospitality Cons: Parking more

Simply the best!!! 5/26/2003

Unlike other med places that are initially satisfying but leave you bloated and miserable later, this gem in a stripmall has the most fresh, flavorful food that never leaves you reaching for the Alka-Seltzer. Try the chicken with garlic sauce, the fool, the fatouch, and the hummos. I love the gyros, and go nuts over the baklava. The service it a little slow, but that's only because they belive you should relax and enjoy the meal - and I always do! more

PHENOMENAL!! 1/20/2003

WOW!! Great food... great service... AMAZING price!!! GO AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! Pros: GREAT FOOD!, GREAT PRICE!!! more
