Go back to cooking school 7/18/2003

Hard to believe but Maggiano's has the worst pasta I've ever attempted to eat, anywhere. The spaghetti was overcooked, therefore soggy and drenched in utterly tasteless meat sauce. The mozzarella marinara fared slightly better, but it, too was swimming in the same tasteless sauce. The only decent dish was the pound cake dessert which came toasted with a scoop of ice cream and hot chocolate sauce. Last, but not least, the wait staff has attitude. Pros: nice setting, poundcake dessert Cons: tasteless sauce, portions too large, staff attitude bad more

Best family style dining for four 6/26/2003

Enormous portions on family style dinners for four. Everything we ate was great. Will definitely return. This review is for Woodland Hills only. Pros: food, service, ambiance Cons: Grove location more

Nice Spot, Not So Good Grub 6/13/2003

The place itself is very nice and the staff is GREAT! But..the food is less than acceptable. The pasta was mushy and the sauce left something to be desired. They need to work on the food and they could be a great spot. Pros: Location, Staff, Ambiance Cons: Food more

I don't get it 6/1/2003

Being italian AND from a major Italian city (Chicago), I still fail to see the real greatness of Maggiano's food. It's family style, the portions are big, and the vibe is always good but back home, it's just a big scene - not the best Italian food around. Worth the trip but not for the food so much than for the atmospehere. Pros: big portiions, decent food, nice environment Cons: expensive, over hyped more

Scrumptous 1/21/2003

This place is very warm with an atmoshphere that is so desirable that you'll want to come back when you have a group of people you'd like to eat with. This really is a rare find combining the wonderful elements of the Italian dining experience: food, atmosphere, good prices & wine! Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking, Heated Pation dining more

Great place for special events! 12/4/2002

We recently held a family reunion at Maggiano's at The Grove, and everyone is still raving about it!! The food was wonderful, the service superb, and the location and decor is ideal for special events. From the banquet manager to the wait staff, we could not have asked for more personalized and professional service. I recommend it to everyone, and can't wait for them to expand to Northern California! more

Just Like the Windy City! 10/11/2002

Being from Chicago, this is one restaurant that serves up Italian dishes like I'm used too. The taste is very consistent as to that of the Chicago chains which makes me not miss home so much anymore! Try the Maggiano's Salad, it's heavenly!!! Pros: Lots of food, You can share 1 meal, Corner Bakery! more

Ben Fatto! 8/9/2002

Forget that this restaurant is part of a larger national chain. Maggiano's (at the Grove) is an excellent restaurant in its own right. The atmosphere is incredible; I've spent many a summer evening in the back, thinking that I was back in Tuscany. The drinks are great, the wine list respectable and the service is excellent (say hi to Elle). But what really makes Maggiano's is the food. Large, flavorful portions (although the calamari was a bit bland) are the norm. The steak with balsamic reduction might be the best steak in LA (no exaggeration). Overall, there are worse ways to spend your money. Would recommend highly. more

Great place for a relaxing late lunch! 7/20/2002

We had the most incredible lunch at Maggiano's! In a beautiful setting of dark woods and spacious airy windows, we comfortably enjoyed some spectacular Tuscan wines with their house breads and outstanding ceasar salad (the small was HUGE and happily shared). We then tried the melt in your mouth seafood pasta (which would have easily served at least 3...) and the most delicous 4 cheese ravioli drizzled with a tomato pesto sauce that was really out of this world! We also noticed they have some gorgeous party rooms upstairs to accomodate a small get together or an entire reception. We went back the following evening and enjoyed a late light dinner in their cool bar (with piano man playing in the corner...sounded alot like billy joel...) They make a very good martini, too! Pros: excellent lunch, attentive service, incredible food Cons: noisy children nearby more

Fine Italian Cusine 7/2/2002

Maggiano's has replaced Olive Garden for me. The food here is authentic Italian food, taste's great. Serving sizes are BIG! Bring your appetite. If a romantic evening is what you want, Maggiano's is the place. Pros: Fresh Pasta, Good Service more

yummy 6/21/2002

Maggiano's is delicious! the atmosphere is sophisticated yet comfortable.. I went to the one in woodland hills, but i am sure they are similar enough. try the maggiano salad with blue cheese.. and the pasta arrabiata. it's all good.. more

Comfy, cozy, and fun 6/17/2002

Best Chicken chop salad I have ever had!! I love the decor. It has real live piano player on most nights. Its a great place to have big parties as the upstaris caters to private groups. You'll have a good meal here. Pros: food, decor Cons: pricey more

Wait and See 5/20/2002

Even though it's barely been open a couple months, this place is always hopping. The CBS crowd throngs here after work for the mondo martinis. Be careful, 'cause those things are lethal. more
