Wonderful Salon 10/25/2011

Where do I began. I came to Madison Avenue Salon after I read up on many reviews in Hair Styling magazines that placed the salon in the top 100. I had an amazing hair dresser in Atlanta, GA, where I am originally from (city of hair) but I moved to Seattle as a business decision and was really down about having to find a new hair stylist. I thought I would never find someone to live up to my expectations, because my hair is so unmanageable. If I do not consistently go to a professional, I start to see breakage, split ends, very dry and brittle hair, you name it. So finding someone who specialized in healthy hair treatment was very important for me. I called the salon to schedule an appointment, and spoke to a very well mannered stylist. When I arrived for my appointment, I was immediately greeted and taken to the chair to decide what I wanted done with my hair. Kay, the head stylist, was very knowledgeable in my hair type and provided many options and benefits that she can do with my hair. She is so versatile with so many hair types, and amazes me in the work she does with hair color, extensions, cuts and technique. I was torn in between a relaxer (what I usually get) and a Brazilian Blowout, which I had just learned about on arrival to her salon. She had great prices and went into clear depth on how my hair will remain healthier for a longer time. I was convinced the Brazilian Blowout was for me, and my stylist was unbelievable right! It took about two hours for the applying process, because my hair had to be washed, dried, washed again, then dried again. But even for that time period I thought it went fairly fast. At my old salon, I could spend on average 3 to 4 hours and would plan whole day trips just to get my hair done. At Madison Avenue Salon, it was in and out. The ladies at the salon are about getting things done and they expect the best results as much as the customer does. My Brazilian Blowout CUT the process of washing, drying, and straightening my hair IN HALF It retains shine, moisture and it remains to look like I am always at the salon. It has been almost 2 months and my hair looks like the first day, that I had the Brazilian Blowout done. With the proper care, and using the right products I was able to finally maintain my hair on my own. Ive been back to the salon twice for a dye and trim and received the same amazing service. I tell all my new colleagues about this versatile salon and I would recommend the salon for women and men with all types of hair. As well as the Brazilian Blowout, with one of the best prices and outcomes in the Seattle Area. more

best salon ever. the owner was experienced and was honest on the condition of my hair (trims help your hair grow, people). both my daughter and i got a brazillian blow-out - my hair is soft, healthy and shiny. Received a wonderful massage as well. when I left I was at peace and felt great. I can't wait to try the facials. more

Artistry at Work! 9/19/2010

I have never received a hair style I did not like when going to Madison Avenue Salon.\r \r The salon is current, clean and maintained. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about hair care and hair care products. I always receive professional customer service while being serviced. The stylists take exceptional care in getting to know each and every customers hair type, style, and hair preferences. The stylists are honest with you about what is needed to maintain and any special needs for each individual’s hair care. If you are uneducated on your hair care needs, the stylists will provide you with the information that you need prior to the service so that you can make an informed decision going forward.\r \r The owner, Kay Matthews is a true artist in her field. I have been a client of hers for about sixteen years and would highly recommend her services. I am still amazed each time I leave the salon at her level of creativity!\r \r The only potential downfall is parking at the salon. Parking is available on the street and at times it can be very busy. If you are going in for lots of services all at once, (relaxer, shampoo, cut, weaves) it may be helpful to get dropped off.\r more

Madison Avenue Salon is open wed. - sat., the good thing is they are open the hours they advertise. The stylist do hair cuts and much more. You will have to save up your money because the prices are a little high. more

Ethnic Hair Experts 2/12/2008

It took me 4 years to find a salon in seattle that understands and can do ethnic hair. After relocating from NYC I'd just about given up on finding someone who would work with me and my hair without pushing their favorite products, hair styles or extensions on me. The staff at Madison Salon treat me like a friend and colleague, not just another head of hair. Their pricing is reasonable - compared to many of the so called 'high end' salon. I go to them for color, texturizing, and my haircuts. I trust them with my kids hair, what more can I say? more

I moved to seattle over a year ago and I have been searching for a salon that does ethnic hair, I went to madison avenue salon and it was a total blessing that I found that place, they knew everything, I think the atmosphere is very positive and well rounded. I have always had a problem with growing my hair, and YES madison avenue salon has solved it. The owner and her employees are kind hearted humorous and real and I'm glad I found them. Pros: everything Cons: the traffic more

new in Seattle 5/7/2006

I am new to the Seattle area, and I needed a professional hair salon. I located Madison Ave on the net. The wait time was long (in excess of 1.5 hrs). The stylist's assistant was very unprofessional, and not very skilled at what she did. The staff was not friendly, and when it was time to pay, they charged a price that was different from the one quoted during the consultation. My experiences, in the past, at other hair salons were pleasureable; my experience at Madison ave was not positive, and I would not recommend it to my worst enemy! Cons: parking, price, professionalism more

Horrible 12/23/2005

This is one of the few places in seattle that does relaxers. But the customer service is the worst I have ever seen. I was yelled at and the stylist even said my hair was the worst she had seen in years and that I should cut it all off. My hair is about shoulder length, she reccomended cutting it off to 3 inches. She also reccomenede that I needed a weave and to come back to her for it and she would only charge me 300 hundred dollars. I'm convinced they are only after money. I was quoted 65 for my relaxer and made to pay 85. Their website is totally wrong and they claim to be celebritiy hair. With their attidude I severly doubt it. PROS: at least they are one of the few salons with a website. CONS: EVERYTHING, they're only open 3 days a week. Worst customer service. more

HORRIBLE! 5/27/2005

If you don't mind having to sit under a dryer all day, or having dirty capes on you, or being told over and over that your hair is horrible then I guess you wouldn't mind this place. The stylists are rude they talk very loud. And reccomend weaves for all their clitents. Oh yeah and they LOVE to cut all your hair off and wanna charge you 20 dollars extra for a trim. I guess you could say its up to standard when you compare it to all the other ghetto salons. Pros: low prices Cons: extremely rude, Over-booked more
