One of the best breakfest/brunch spots in town! 4/25/2008

Great, creative dishes; vegetarian friendly; nice and stylish, yet not pretentious, atmosphere; healthy and fresh food; and good service. I love this place and so has everyone that I have brought there! Pros: Food, service, atmosphere Cons: Long wait on weekends (sometimes) more

Unique Chicago brunch spot 3/27/2008

M Henry is by far my favorite place to grab Saturday brunch with my husband or friends. We love it! It's also a great, unique place to take out-of-town guests. I eat very little meat, so M Henry offers many interesting, healthful vegetarian options, but there are plenty of dishes to satisfy meat eaters as well. You can't always find that balance and both types of food be delicious, but M Henry is up to the challenge! My favorite dish is black-bean cakes and eggs, but I am always tempted by the breakfast bread pudding, blackberry bliss pancakes, and whatever special they have that day. Their coffee is very flavorful with unlimited free refills. They also have a full-service bakery with breads, cookies, pastries, and tarts to tempt you on your way in and out. more

Love Love Love! Best Brunch in the City!!! 3/1/2008

I'm totally the type of person who finds a place and sticks with it religiously, so when someone suggested M Henry for brunch, it was hard departing from my favorite Wicker Park breakfast spot. Wow, I'm glad I did! M Henry SMELLS like home cooking when you walk through the entrance, and normally a crowd and a wait would annoy me, I found it somewhat fun to people watch all of the restaurants' customers. The wait staff was great, as well as the host. I immediately felt very comfortable. I ordered the Quiche (which comes with a side salad, as well as fresh fruit) and was NOT disappointed. The Quiche was so amazingly tasty and fresh, I couldn't get enough... I'm also the type of person who loves a little ""sweet"" with his savory, so I ordered a ""half order"" (you can do that if you don't want a full one) of the Blackberry Blisscakes. Yum. Pure decadence in my mouth! I then went back AGAIN with friends and got the quiche (again) with the Sweet Potato Pancakes... YUM YUM YUM!!! This is my NEW Sunday brunch favorite! Pros: Brunch, Food, Staff Cons: expect a 20-30 minute wait on the weekends for Brunch... it's well worth it though! more

Amazing 11/13/2007

I avoided this place for the longest time because it always has such a line and is soooo popular. But I sucked it up one sunny Saturday morning and I'm so glad that I did. First of all...the line moved fast...ten minutes tops. Then the decor was so ""down home"" and welcoming. I mean, I love a good suspended window just like the next gal - the way they hung them really divided up the seating to make each little section feel private yet being able to see to the next section kept the energy strong. Then...THE FOOD...holy muther of god. The food was incredible. To die. I would go back to this place again and again and again. Hell, I would brave an hour long line if need be.\r Pros: look, feel, FOOD Cons: lines more

LONG WAIT...but worth the wait 5/28/2007

Its a little bit of a hike to this cute little eatery from where we live, yet we had to come because it was featured on the food network. You want to get here pretty early because the wait for the two of us was forty five minutes. There is a small little coffee bar with muffins and pastries to curb your hunger while you wait but we didn't want to spoil our appetite. The atmosphere is so alive and full of energy. The bread pudding that was featured on the food network was ""ok"" a little on the watery side..not so much pudding, more like wet bread. We had the tuscan benedict and the fried egg sandwich, very full of flavor. The house potatoes were cooked to perfection and were so crisp. Overall a very nice place and great food, we will defiantly be back for another breakfast and lunch. Pros: FOOD, friendly service, clean restrooms, great value Cons: a little far, long wait times on weekends more

great food 1/8/2007

The wait was long (although expected because it was a Sunday afternoon), but it was well worth it. The place is so cute and the staff is friendly. All the dishes are presented with such care and taste amazing. I am a vegan and they had a vegan dish! Yay brunch for me! more

maybe we went on the wrong day 1/3/2007

On reading the reviews of M. Henry, my gf and I decided to try it out for sunday brunch. The wait is long, but not a huge problem unless you have something to do. However, as we were waiting (35-45 min total) to get a table, two guys walked up to the hostess and asked how long the wait was and she said around 40 minutes, apparently they asked really nicely and the hostess let them go in ahead of us (though we'd been waiting for over half an hour). I don't mind waiting, but allowing people to cut in line is just irritating. Anyway, we split a bowl of bread pudding for starters, which was very good, but it took a few minutes for the waiter to actually give us utensils so we could eat it. And I think they cooked our entrees at the same time as the bread pudding since the entrees came out cold 20 minutes later. I understand that there was a significant rush, but any good restaurant should be able to keep their food warm. Given the otherwise good reviews, maybe I'll chalk it up to the fact that everyone has an off day.\r \r Pros: price, portions, presentation Cons: wait, service, food temperature more

Great place to eat-- No where to wait. 9/23/2006

I LOVE THE FOOD HERE. Yummy veg options, with intention-- I can get SOY MILK for my coffee with out explaining how one milks a bean. Great options for my non-veg pals. The only draw back is that it's a little cramped in the dineing area, and there is little to no room to wait- especially during those crowded weekend brunch hours. Pros: great vegitarian brunch! Cons: crowded & they don't take RSVP's more

SO delicious!!! 7/18/2006

This place is delicious!!! SOOO good, great brunch with lots of variety. Busy for sure, but worth a wait! more

Great addition to the neighborhood 7/1/2006

This place is so good. I live in the area and go there all the time. It has a few great vegan options (including the yuba, which I don't like by my vegan friend does). The coffee is wonderful (and free-flowing), the service is outstanding, and the food is always perfect. The Latina Omletta is my favorite non-sweet breakfast and the pancakes with berries and creame is amazing if you want something sweet. I've also been here a couple times for lunch and it was also very tasty. Get there before 9:30am on weekends, as there is usually a lot of customers! Also, they recently added a cafe/bakery, which is also great. It's a perfect stop to pick up morning coffee and a muffin, light lunch or ang baked good for later - including lots of breads. You can't go wrong coming here! Pros: decor, staff, consistency Cons: long lines on the weekend (which I just avoid) more

I've been there twice for breakfast/brunch and the food was excellent. Their choices are unique and contemporary. The staff is very friendly too. Pros: unique food more

yum yum, gimme some 2/8/2006

i had the chocolate bread french toast w/sour cherry topping, which was outstanding. i thought it might be too sweet and heavy but the topping was the perfect balance and the bread wasn't too chocolate-y. we had excellent service, although there was a wait. then again, there always is for something this delicious and so reasonably priced. great bang for the buck! more

Best Breakfasts in Andersonville 1/5/2006

M Henry is a gem in the neighborhood. They by far serve the best breakfasts, and lunch is great as well. (Not open for dinner) I can't wait for their coming expanded space. more

Great Food 5/4/2005

We first tried this restaurant about 3 weeks ago, and I cannot wait to go back. The emphasis here is on vegetarian, although there are meat options. The food is fresh and really delicious. I had the black bean bowl (black beans, corn, cheese, tomatoes, etc. on brown rice) and a side dish of some luscious plantains. My husband (Mr. Meat Eater) had the turkey sandwich, and was impressed! For dessert we shared an oatmeal cookie w/everything (dried cranberries, nuts, etc.) that was buttery and very tasty. Pros: Vegetarian Options, Affordable, Near Edgewater shops more

BEST FOOD AND SERVICE FOR THE BEST VALUE! 3/2/2005

I stumbled upon this restaurant last year and have not missed one weekend breakfast yet! The food is delicious. With ample portions, it's also the best value. It get's somewhat crowded after 9am on weekends, and parking can be a hassle, but overall, an excellent place. Pros: Food, Service, Decor Cons: Parking more

My favorite breakfast spot 12/16/2003

M Henry has some of the tastiest breakfast I've ever had. They definitely rival Ann Sather down the street. Where Ann Sather has the home cooking angle, M Henry has the creative flair. You're going to look at the menu and send the waitress away a few times because everything looks so good. While everything sounds fancy-shmancy at first, it's just well presented breakfast. I'd recommend just about everything on the menu, especially the apple smoked chicken sausage. There is one thing i'd steer you away from however. There's some stuff called Yoba or something. It has the taste and consistency of burnt paper. Pros: good selection, friendliest waitstaff, very reasonable $$ Cons: closes at 2 more
