Worst

There were not hardly any animals there and none of the attractions and shows or cafes were open. We looked the zoo up before we went, since we live three hours away, and there wa...

One of the best! 11/28/2006

Having children, we're always looking for great activities to get involved with. We've been going to the Louisville Zoo and have always had a great time! In all the times we've been (and we've been plenty of times!) we've never seen huge crowds. The zoo is well kept and clean, which is a huge deal to us. There are little shops where you can purchase a drink and snack conviently located, and also great activities for children, such as a carousel. We just recently attended their "World's Largest Halloween Party", one of the many wonderful activites going on, and had a blast! We're definetly buying a family membership next year! more

The Kids Love it and so do I! 8/5/2006

I have a family pass and I wish I took better advantage of it. However, every time we go it's a great day! Our last visit, we finally went to Lorikeet Landing and the new Wallaroo Walkabout. My five year old was nervous but wanted a bird to land on her, but because she was so jumpy it didn't happen. The 22 month old enjoyed it as well. Finally one did land on me and both kids were thrilled! The Walkabout was neat though it didn't seem there were many animals yet. I look forward to see how this goes. more

Zoo 9/17/2005

Our zoo is wonderful. They take such good care of the animals and the exhibits are fantastic. This month they are featuring the albino alligator. The commercial they do for it is great. We love the way they incotporate the community with having contests to name the baby animals. The educational programs are wonderful for all ages, not just the children. The holiday events they have throughout the year are spectacular. It's a wonderful place for the whole family to enjoy. Bring your camera and enjoy the wonderful animals that God created for us to enjoy. When you need a peaceful place to go to get away from the stress, head to the Louisville Zoo for a twonderful and a memorable time. more

We love the Louisville Zoo! 8/30/2005

My kids love the Louisville Zoo. There is so many places to park and the trails and benches are kept so clean. There is picnic tables and a little restraunt to eat at and my kids love the gift shop. The informational shows are so awesome and that is what sets them aside from other zoos. The zoo features 1,300 animals in naturalistic and mixed animal settings. The newest area is the 4-acre Gorilla Forest Exhibit pygmy hippos and Western Lowland gorillas. Which my kids LOVED!! The Herp-Aquarium features OVER100 species. more

Excellent fun! 8/20/2005

The Louisville Zoo is an excellent Zoo. It has tons of animals large and small. Over the past few years it has gotten a lot of new animals and exhibits. One of the best is Gorilla Forest. There are a lot of gorillas that you can watch. Some are adult and some are child Gorillas. Just one of many of the amazing exhibits at the Louisville Zoo. more

Excellent Zoo! 8/16/2005

I've always enjoyed going to zoos everywhere I visit, but so many zoos seem a little depressing because it feels like all the animals are just in cages. However, when I moved to Louisville I was pleasantly surprised to find our zoo is a lot different! They've really striven to have individual habitats for most of the animals so that they are in more natural situations. I'd really like to see that for more of the animals, but at least it's a start! You definitely have to check out the gorillas and the lorakeets! It's a fun way to spend the day. Make sure you have plenty of time to be leisurely in your walk around the paths here. For some reason it always seems a lot hotter there than walking in another part of town, so drink plenty of fluids and bring a stroller for the kids!! more

A great place to spend the day 8/15/2005

The Louisville Zoo is a wonderful place for anyone who likes to watch animals and a great place to take kids. My favorite is the Gorilla Forest. No matter what time of day you visit them, the gorillas are always ready to teach you something new. And the same can be said for the rest of the animals at this zoo. They are educational and alot of fun to observe. If you like to go for walks, this is a great place to do it, as well. The zoo itself is very pleasant. It's clean and the staff are friendly. One drawback is the high cost of the food. But the good thing is, you are allowed to bring in a sack lunch, so I can't even really call that a drawback. more

Great family outing 8/11/2005

The Louisville Zoo is always a favorite among my family. The zoo offers too many animals to mention. They have visiting animals like the albino alligator too. The herpaquarium has a wonderful assortment. They have Roarchestra in combination with the Louisville Orchestra. They have wonderful activitites for the kids. It's great for walkers too. They have paths already marked depending on how many miles you want to walk and the parking is free! Yes the drinks and food are pricey. more

overall great place 8/10/2005

The Louisville Zoo is a great place to go on a beutiful day. The gorilla exsibiat is WONDERFUL and I highly recomend going just to see that. Over all the Zoo in Good. Most of the animals are out to veiw and the perttin zoo within is a great place for children to be up colse with the animals. Food at this Zoo is alittle on the high side but it is good idea to bring your own drinks since a 20oz there is over $2.00. more

The best around! 8/9/2005

They have any type of animal you can think of - from A to Z. The Zoo always gives 110% to their animals and their habitats. Since the Zoo is a rather large park, make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen and plan to stay the whole day so that you can see everything! They do offer free parking. I do not think that you can bring in outside food or drink, but the do offer several snack shops throughout the park, but they are expensive. more

Great Fun! 8/5/2005

There is great fun to be had at the Louisville Zoo. This place is perfect for the whole family and they have many animals from around the world, along with activities and info. Everyone always remembers visiting here as a kid on a field trip from school and it was always neat and a great trip. They're always adding new things and they keep it clean and the navigation around the place is very well laid out. It's a nice way to spend the day with your family and show the young ones all the different kinds of animals that are out there. I would advise looking into their memberships which are very affordable and will help the Zoo out. This is a great place and you should visit every year. more

Louisville Zoo 8/3/2005

We have visited this zoo many times and always enjoy our time there. The facility is kept clean and neat. There is a train that can tour you around the park as well as a carousel for the children to ride. There is a petting area for children and they can also feed the animals thre.We especially enjoy the gorilla exhibit. They've done a great job of creating a natural habitat. more

The Louisville Zoo 7/29/2005

The Louisville Zoo Is a great family outing destination. The gorilla forest is a must see on any visit. Four acres in size, it is the home to 12 lowlands Gorillas and 2 pygmy hippos. A membership is the best value if you are a local. It allows unlimited access, and admission to the World's largest Halloween Party. The zoo is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Days. more

Louisville Zoo 7/29/2005

I love the zoo. I am worse than the kids. The Louisville Zoo is first rate. The recent addition of the gorilla forest moved it into a new level. Four acres have been devoted to the 12 lowland gorillas and also 2 pygmy hippos. There is a new baby pygmy hippo! The zoo also has a rare white alligator and has just added the lorikeet exhibit. Lorikeets are beautiful birds that look like little parrots and they will land on you and eat nectar from your hands. The zoo has a endless number of animals to visit as well as beautiful landscaping and art pieces. There is also a train to ride,a tram, and a one-of- a kind carousel. more

Lovely zoo! 7/29/2005

My whole family enjoys going to the zoo. We are planning a trip there tomorrow in fact. They have lots of attractions, a wide variety of animals and the prices are fair. There is always a special exhibit in the summer as well. They take good care of their animals too! It's a great learning experience for my little girl and myself as well! more

Wonderful Family Attraction 7/20/2005

This zoo is fantastic. They have wonderful programs that go on throughout the year. I love when they have name the baby contests. One year we got to enter a name for the baby giraffe that was born. Not to long ago, they had one from two lion cubs that were born. The zoo is kept clean and the people there really seem to enjoy their job. There are many exhibits to see. They even offer educational programs. The prices are reasonable and it is just a wonderful place to take the family. My favorite is to see the penquin exhibit. more
