Great meal! 8/2/2008

We took the 3 course ""feed me"" option and had a wonderful experience. You do not know what the chef will prepare after your initial conversation (you can tell him what you don't want). I won't give details about our meal because being surprised is part of the fun. I will say that crawfish, squab, and swordfish figured prominently. The courses were imaginative, well prepared, and were presented beautifully. I highly recommend Louisiana Bistro and will certainly return there. Pros: Great food imaginatively prepared and presented more

OMG They got rid of the very best thing on the menu 5/24/2008

Formerly:\r Ab Fab ! Second only to Emerils filet mignon which has the demi glace so incredibly tasty you want ot lick your plate. Louisiana's Bistro's filet sits on a medalion of garlic mashed potatos, and is sauced with Crawfish Scampi - Excellent, Excellent.\r Now: Unbelievably, inexplicably, they got rid of this menu item ! Dined here again on Sunday night. It was very disappointing. I had to get the rib eye with the jalepeno sauce. It was burnt. My husband had the stuffed trout with crab. Although the fish was fresh tasting - the recipe was very boring and unimaginative. It was one of those things that you ate - but you were glad to be finished. Pros: Has some tasty food Cons: Got rid of their best menu item - filet mignon with crawfish scampi sauce. more

A Tranquil Spot for an Excellent Dinner in the Quarter 3/22/2008

I happened upon the Louisiana Bistro and it looked like just the place, but it was quiet, so after sitting down I became unsure if I'd chosen the right place. I ordered the crab stuffed trout and it was incredible. Absolutely delicious. The excellent was followed by a unique dessert - at least in my experience - creole cream cheese ice cream with a balsamic syrup. Wonderful and tangy. And the service was lovely. I couldn't have been more pleased with my dinner at Louisiana Bistro. Do visit. more

The best dining experience in New Orleans 9/30/2007

Louisiana Bistro is awesome! We had the ""Feed Me"" menu, which is where Chef Mars prepares whatever he feels like, you just choose how many courses. To say that it was excellent just doesn't do it justice. Some examples of the delicacies we enjoyed were crawfish beignets, chicken fried filet mignon, and cinnamon apple creme brulee. The atmosphere was intimate. The staff was gracious and friendly. It was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. I hope others will take the opportunity to enjoy it. Pros: Unusual twists on some classic cajun and creole favorites Cons: There are no cons more

New Orleans' Best Kept Secret! 4/10/2007

I ate at this retaurant many, many years ago and I'm sure the ownership and management has changed hands but there's one thing that definitely has not - the amazing quality of the food! The seafood is excellent and the staff make you feel like you're family. Wine by the glass is poured at the tables, so if you change your mind upon tasting, they're more than happy to accommodate you. The chef will come out and have a chat with you about the food you ate and about Louisiana cuisine in general. If you want an authentic New Orleans experience, don't go past Louisiana Bistro. Pros: Friendly wait staff, excellent chef, amazing food, ambience is intimate more

So good I ought not tell you! 11/13/2006

We were five tired, cold, and hungry individuals on a Saturday night in New Orleans without a reservation anywhere. Realtors were in town, so the city was finally bustling with tourists. My husband wanted ""something blackened"" preferably from a hole in a wall diner. I wanted fine dining. Thus we were all tired, cold, hungry, and as I have already mentioned reservationless. We considered Riche which was close by, but not what either of us really wanted. Finally, in desperation, I went to the concierge. He gave us no choices, only quickly picked up the phone and made arrangements for us to squeeze in before the 7pm rush. Realize, this adds to the magic of an incredible dinner... just the serendipity of it all! We arrived and were promptly seated. This little bistro has 11 tables, and each is filled all night with amazing dishes. We did not order wine, so I cannot speak to the variety. We had several appetizers, different entres and tried each dessert. We spent the entire evening passing plates around the table (in a very poor manners kind of way) just so everybody could try everything. This little gem ranks as one of the best dining experiences of my life. Be sure to speak to Mars, the chef. He's delightful. One bit of advice though, don't think you'll be able to get in without a reservation. People were being turned away. But, do check out the Louisiana Bistro. It is worth the effort! Pros: amazing food, great service, quaint Cons: it's a 9 hour drive from San Antonio more

Excellent New Cajun/Creole Menu! 5/5/2003

This restaurant was recommended by our concierge. The food was absolutely perfect. The setting is small and intimate and owner walks around and greets the various patrons. Seems to be more of a local place than swamped with tourists, but its well worthing seeking out. more
