Logan Square Animal Hospital

There’s nothing more reassuring knowing that I have a trusted and highly competent vet to take care of my absolutely adored cats and dog. I went to this vet clinic on a reccomendation of a shelter. It is not fancy or in perfect condition however the vet was VERY good. He took time to listen to the issues going on and actually diagnosed my pet with something that two other vet clinics were unable to. My pet is now healthy and happy thanks to this vet clinic. If you are going to base your opinion on the receptionist or decor this is not the place for you. If you know vet medicine and actually take the time to speak with the vet you will like the place (why do so many people base their opinions on the physical place and not the credentials of the vet???) more

We just took our 10 week old kitten (pictured to the left) to get her first check up. Not that it REALLY matters, but all of the receptionists I spoke to were very friendly. The doctor, Dr. K, was great too. He laid out all the necessary tests and treatments our kitten would need without selling us up on any unnecessary frills. He handled our cat very gently and she did not seem to mind the visit at all. Best of all, the price was more than reasonable considering all we got: a FeLV/FIV test, deworming, medication for ear mites, and vitamins. Oh and he saved us the $30 fee for the worm test, he only charged us for the deworming and meds! Please, do not rate these places on how nice the wood in the reception area is or how friendly the receptionist (who has nothing to do with the health of your pet) is. Based on my experience here, the doctors are very friendly and knowledgeable and will only give you what you and you pet really need at very reasonable costs. more

The veteranarians at this clinic were very knowledgable and friendly. They make people feel secure that their animals will be well taken care of, and seem to have a way with the animals. I will send all my friends here! more

I didn't feel that my pet was just another pet. They spent the time going through things with me and the doctor called on his days off to check on things. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it doesn't have a 24 hour emergency center. They do, however, give you info for one in case needed. more

My dog had developed a lump on his chest ate friday night and by morning it was the size of a softball. I first took my vet to Portage Park Animal HospitalI and the examined my dog and wanted to charge me an obsurd amount of money to test him but not diagnosis him. He did not take him tempature nor did he got out of his way to try to even stipultae what it could be. I then took my dog home and a friend came by and recommemded Logan Square Hospital. I immediately called and they were closed to my surprise a vet called me back and told us we casn come in first thing aunday morning. (Yes can you belive a vet open on sunday). So we went Sunday morning and saw Dr. Konstantinov. He was amazing the doctor said well maybe it could be rat poisoning. So he did test and found out my dog was bleeding internally and had a stomach infection. That he may not make it until Tuesday whcich was our next appointment. He sent us home with antiboitics and told us to watch him carefully and that it anything happens overnite to call and he will meet us back at his office. He also told me to call in everyday till tuesday to keep him updated. Well Monday before I can call him he called me. To make this long story short m dog was very sick and Dr. Konstantiov help my dog get better. I have taken my dog several places cause I have had him for 5 years but I never felt so comfortable and trusted someone like Dr. Konstantiov. I highly recommend Logan Square Animal Hospital!!!!! more

I waited for less than 10 minutes at a peak time (5:30 pm) on a Monday, my cat got the shot she needed for a standard price, and I was out of there. I will definitely come back here for my cat's annual check up. more

Drs. Basran, Konstantinov, and Iqbar (sp?) have all been wonderful to me and my cats. They have shown sympathy when I had to say farewell to my good friends, they have been fair on pricing, and they have provided very good care to my large collection. more

And yes.. Part of being a really good Pet Parent is knowing when they are not well and need a trip to the Vet. And this visit was unexpected to say the least but. Thank God for Dr. Basran and for the great staff at Logan Square Animal Hospital! And yes I was pretty worried because my 12 year old Maine Coon Cat Bugonia was really sick. But this morning I was able to walk in without an appointment and did'nt have to wait long before we were seen. I have actually known Dr. Basran since the 1980's when I lived in the Logan Square Area. And he is still there and he remembered me..after all these years! And Dr. Basran and his staff are kind, compassionate and caring people who are really good with the animals. :) And my cat Bugonia was sick to the tune of almost $600.00 and Dr. Basran was so kind to me.. and he found a way to reduce that cost for me. He will give an estimate and then he will work with you if need be.. which he did for me..:) So initially my Bugonia was supposed to have stayed there overnight but.. Thanks to Dr. Basran they helped him in office and I got to bring him home. :) Logan Square Animal Hospital is a Caring, Kind, Place. And I would'nt let my pets be anywhere else. A big Thank You to everyone at Logan Square. I appreciate everything you did for myself and Bugonia. A well deserved 5 star rating is coming your way. Grab it. You earned it for sure. :) more

I will never forget when our White Shepherd got hit by a car in 1995. Our local vet said that the damage was so severe to her leg and pelvis, his recommendation was to have put her to sleep. That was not an option. He recommended we take her to this specialty vet in Riverwoods who refused to even BEGIN to treat her without $3k down, up front. This also was not an option. I don't exactly remember how we got referred to Dr. Basran, but it was divine intervention, to be sure. Daisy required some pretty extensive care but went on to give us 6 more happy and active years after the death sentence our primary vet had initially imposed on her. Sure, we nicknamed her ""the bionic dog"" and joked about all the stainless steel used to rebuild her pelvis, but I will always be grateful to Dr. B for going the extra mile, instead of giving up and pronouncing her hopeless. more

I am currently a student and when my dog neede surgery this animal hospital was very understanding on my financial needs! The doctor gave me useful information and assured me everything would be o.k. with my pet. I will never change this hospital. The staff of the hospital was very friendly and knowledgable about my particular situation! I would highly recommend everybody who truely care for thier pets to come to Logan Square Animal Hospital!! more

We were referred to Dr. Basran by Diane at the Anti Cruelty Society on Grand Ave. where Daisy came from. Dr. Basron did the surgery to repair the hip and pelvis, and told us that the dog may never walk or run the same again. We paid no money up front.\r Daisy was running in TWO WEEKS! And she ran for many years after.\r We Paid less than $800.00 for the surgery. Dr. Basran is a compassionate man, an honest man, an understanding man and a damn fine vet. more

How amazing that a vet could be walk-ins welcome! I walked in and had both of my dogs vaccinated and was out the door in under 30 minutes... and for a price that truly shocked me (y'know- in a good way). Everyone working there (I met 3 people) were friendly and helpful. The place is older (it says on their website that they have been there for 25 years) so you definitely see that it's an older building. I will definitely be returning for non-last-minute issues! more

This place saved my dog who had parvo... i thought i was going to loose him... Dr. Basran cut me a break and let me visit my dog everyday as he got better!!! Thank you Logan Squaer my dog is still healthy and alive today thanks to you!!!! more

dr basran is empathetic and precise. he is 100% on target with his diagnosis, and if costs are a concern, he will adjust the treatment without neglecting your pet. more

I took my 6 month old puppy to this vet because he was extremely sick. Dr. Basran diagnosed him with Parvo. Parvo is a deadly disease and most dogs who get this die,but Dr. Basran saved him! I go no where else. Also took my 12 year old cat with advanced kidney disease and he was saved by Dr. Van Elzen! I am very pleased with them. more

I've been to a few different vets in chicago for cat care. The rates here are very good. You're not paying for a fancy decor and I've never felt that extra services or products were pressed on me. I've seen Dr. Basran and also Dr. Van Elzen. Some of the support staff seems really young (but are nice) so be prepared to ask follow up questions regarding meds and such. I think the drop-in (no appointments) feature is great too if you're going on a weekday morning. more
